My theater group is putting on a production of The Music Man. It's my last year with them.
I've practiced for months to try and get the lead role. I've started to get in shape. I took voice lessons. I learned his major songs. This would have been my first real leading role, especially with a lot of the competition gone this year. And I could have totally done it.
A lot of people didn't believe in me when I said I wanted the role, but I was determined to prove them wrong. I practiced, and practiced, and when people actually saw what I had practiced they were very impressed. I knew I could've done the role.
I've just found out that I wasn't even called back for it. Instead I got called back for the horrible, bland side character who sings arguably one of the worst songs in the musical and basically does nothing the whole show. It would actually be more fun to be in the ensemble with my friends.
I don't know, I'm just really broken up because I tried so hard for this and I [I]know[/I] I can do it, and if they just gave me the chance to I could impress them like I impressed everyone else. But now I don't even get the chance to show off what I've practiced for so long. If I got called back for Harold Hill, and tried my best and was not as good as the others, I would be a lot less crushed. It happened last year- I really wanted a role, I was called back for it, my friend did better with the role, and I accepted that and got over it eventually.
But just... ugh. All that work, wasted. I don't even get to put it to use in an [I]attempt[/I]

yeah it's weird for me. i'm talking to a guy from my group of Smash friends who didn't do to well at a tourney today, and he's kinda feeling like he's not improving anymore and is just really down. i wanna talk him up because i know he's great and he's such a nice guy IRL, but the things he's having issues with are way above my head in the sense of the game.
