When rap music was about making a point, lyrics and what not. I love rap music and have been listening to it for a very long time, people think it's weird that I still listen to the same stuff I did 10 years ago.
Most Wu, Biggie and Run DMC songs were about killing people or partying, they weren't terribly more prone to conscious songs than your average modern radio rapper. People just look at them through rose tinted glasses because they don't make notable music anymmore.
Rhymesayers and Black Clover have some damn fuckin' good artists.

That's extremely true, I get into arguments with my other hip-hop/rap buddies about it. I don't mind rap and hip-hop artists that have the occasional party song, but too many rappers make too many party songs and I can't stand it at a certain point. People group rappers up too much and rap and hip-hop culture is more complicated than people realize.

I am educated. Every single damn day I am forced to listen to rap songs because the bus driver like to have K104.7 (aka rap central) blasting on the speakers. I 've just about helpevery rapper of today as I hate it. No wonder the 2000's were considered THE WROST decade for music... -_-
Meanwhile, I miss the old rap songs from the 80's and sometimes early 90's. Rapping back then was about being funky and fresh and cool, and about dancing and letting loose and all that jazz. These days it's just about, "icin' 'dem hoes by 43rd street wit mah gat cuz im rixxx bixxx"
tl;dr I hate today's rap, miss 80's rap.

Till I collapse by Eminem is a great song indeed . When I was much younger I listened to Eminem all the time . Not now though .
I like a couple of rap artists. Such as Saul Williams, Busdriver and Del tha Funkee Homosapien.
Most commericial hiphop is utter trash, but I suppose that's no different from any other market.
