Someone should make a game that if pirated, replaces every texture with goatse :v:
I like those measures when you're more than halfway through the game and something completely not obvious happens that make you wonder "is it a bug or did I do something wrong?"
i remember reading about a game that has screamers when you pirate it...i really want to know what game it is
If you pirated Crysis: Warhead all your weapons fired chickens instead of bullets
But, there are no cracks to counter DRMs right?

This reminds me of Cheatpunch. So many people were swearing up and down they didn't use hacks, sometimes even if Garry/Max showed the evidence.
But, there are no cracks to counter DRMs right?
May as well have some fun with your DRM to have fun. Also stuff like mother's stuff probably did serve to deter the weak minded from piracy. If I think I got it working and then the game deletes my save I'd probably give up.
But, there are no cracks to counter DRMs right?
Spyro 3's anti-piracy pranks were multi-staged; fixing the first layer of fuckery (making collectibles randomly disappear later in the game, making it unwinnable) caused the next layer to become active: randomly being unable to pause, sometimes being unable to use portals (so the game is unwinnable), and changing the menu language into German. And then even if you fixed that, attacking the final boss sends you back to the start and deletes all your saves. Spyro 3's traps were finally completely patched out by pirates, but not for over two months. And the first two months is the largest sales window most games ever get. It's not about being invincible against cracks, it's about being resistant enough to prevent piracy from killing most of your initial wave of sales. Which is why it's not really embarrassing for DRM to get cracked, but it is if it's cracked or bypassed within the first few days of launch.
i remember reading about a game that has screamers when you pirate it...i really want to know what game it is
A google search told me that both Dark Souls 2 and Papers Please have screamers when you pirate them
A google search told me that both Dark Souls 2 and Papers Please have screamers when you pirate them
I find it strange that I can not find any videos on these.
I find it strange that I can not find any videos on these.
It's my guess that it's either: A) Real but unable to be replicated or B) Trolls Either way I don't think the Dark Souls 2 devs would implement such thing into the game, screamers are a trolls way of scaring someone. Such a lie could only come from them. As for the Papers Please screamer, I have found no evidence of such a thing.
I've never had any issues - crysis warhead worked fine - the only problems I had were PS2 games where cutscenes didn't work and in game voices were sped up and squeaky. That was when I was a kid though and my dad got all the games. Nowadays I'm totally legit through steam. Although I did desperately look for a Planetary Annihilation crack because ifs it's shitty DRM whatever that makes it unplayable on my current internet connection. [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] I didn't find anything though.
I wish the Mirror's Edge one made it so gravity is heavily increased after you make the jump instead of slows before it
A google search told me that both Dark Souls 2 and Papers Please have screamers when you pirate them
That's so fucking evil, if it's real. So far I can't find any evidence. [editline]12th July 2014[/editline] http://steamcommunity.com/app/236430/discussions/0/558754259998669625/ Found the supposed DSII screamer. It's a Steam Community link, no actual screamer present.
A google search told me that both Dark Souls 2 and Papers Please have screamers when you pirate them
Do you have a link to this?
While not quite anti-'piracy', it's still semi-pertinent. In Dark Souls 1 in Japan, if you bought the game before it's street date From Software would send Max-Stat phantoms to invade players and fuck their shit up so hard
In Red Alert 2, a few minutes into your game, all of your units and buildings would self destruct, causing you to lose.
same happens in C&C Generals and LOTR Battle for Middle Earth, but only in multiplayer games (lan)
In Maniac Mansion you set off the thermalnuclear security system no matter what you do.
