A vault that slowly creeps to a 45 degree angle over a one year period [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Then it keeps to that angle for a year before taking a year to creep back to a flat angle, it then creeps the other direction for a year, this repeats untill the vault is opened.
A normal vault but with fat, sweaty men living in the vents and all they eat are baked beans
A vault, covered in dark green vine, metal rusted, dark alleys leading to the unknown demises, creaking noises from the bathrooms, a small room with blood on the window containing 1 person and 2 dead bodies, the man holding a .22L pistol emptied out clip and a disgusted look on his face, and a room with a crab in it. at the lab 12 people sit with small armoury, 1 20 gauge shotgun 2 22L pistols and 3 bats, and the rest huddled in a corner. [sp](detailed :D)[/sp]
A vault where there are no rooms, it's all one giant room. There is plenty of food and water in 2 corners of the room, and beds in the other two corners. There is a big red button in the center of the vault. The residents are told that they are not allowed to press the button. The only problem is that everyone is so compelled what exactly happens when the button's pressed. [sp]The button opens the vault door[/sp]

There would be a vault where the first weeks everything would be normal, after two weeks the lights slowly gets brighter and brighter until the lights sort of blinds everyone in it. After its at its max a few days later all lights would be turned off (and as its a vault it would be totally dark). One would have a slow flow of water that would rise a few centimeters every year, there would be no way to prevent it from entering a room and they are told that when they stop it they will die.
A vault in which a new political party is randomly selected each year. The party (based on the ones we have today) is given full control of the vault. Connected to this vault is a second vault, a vault that is aware of the former vault, and is ruled by a completely neutral being (robot etc). This Vault would be given enough food to last 950 years. After which the door would open. The first vault is completely unaware of the second vault, but the ruling political party is given information of it. The politically unstable vault is given a population that is twice that of the neutral vault. The social experiment here is if a politically unstable, but stronger, vault would overpower a completely neutral vault. A challenge of political control if you will.
A vault in which there are several separated floors, for each floor up the average intelligence of the people inhabiting it goes down. Those who inhabit the vault are taught that the people living below them are more intelligent than themselves, naturally they either resent them for it or see them as greater beings to please. In either case they have the power to democratically decide how much food/water the people below them get. There However there is a single person (randomly selected) on the lowest, and thus most intelligent, floor, this person has control all of the food and water for all of the floors besides his own. He has the power to override the decisions of all of the communities above him besides the floor that controls the water/food distribution of his or her own community. There is no communication between any of the communities.
A vault where the blastdoors will violently slam open and shut very rapidly 24/7 And the only population would be a billion ducks and a crocodile.
Damnit double poast.
A vault where everyone is brought up to believe that nothing exists beyond the vault, that all that exists is within the vault.

A vault where Gabe Newell duplicates himself every three seconds. The only way to stop the duplication is to kill the actual Gabe.
A vault populated entirely with house cats and some Mr. Handies to look after them.
Can you guys stop just making death traps? Although the idea of a semi-submerged Vault would be interesting to see how humans adapt to a life like that.
A vault where all of the light fixtures -- backup, emergency, handheld or otherwise -- are heavily tinted magenta. All items that emit light as a secondary function, such as computer monitors, are also specifically built to work with only differing shades of magenta instead of with multiple colors. All food preparation and vault maintenance is carried out by special robotics functioning "behind the scenes," so that dwellers past the original generation will not even be familliar with things such as the yellow-orange of fire or the whitish-blue of electricity. Only magenta. Would be amusing to see several generations down the line, when that vault door finally creaks open for a world which knows only one color...
a vault filled with 100 blind people; with furniture set to randomly rearrange on random increments and a food supply that cycled to random places in the vault, and one quadriplegic man with sight. Learn to co-operate.
A biodome, constantly ensuring we are balancing homos within the system.
A Vault with 100 PETA member and 100 highly dangerous tiger.
A vault in which half the time it is too hot and the other half of the time it is too cold.
