^ Dream Theater FTW. This and Pink Floyd = Best progressive bands out there.
Still Alive. Got me interested in JoCo which in turn got me interested in Indie.
I was overtaken by the funk. Also.
This song literally made me just sit in shock for a few minutes. And it's made me look at rap in a completely different light.
First dubstep song I had ever heard. Didn't even know it was dubstep until a few weeks later a friend told me "I didn't know you listened to dubstep" and I was like "woah what's that?" and it went on from there. Checked out some more dubstep and for a while this was my favourite dubstep song. Now that I think about it, I listened to totally different dubstep than what I listen to now.
These guys made me get into industrial and metal. Goddamn this was a great song...

Rise Against got me interested in Punk Rock. First heard them in Guitar Hero 3, I liked them so I started to listen to their other songs.
Rise Against is a very good band. It's the only group of punk metal that I respect (and I know, lawl). Endgame was an amazing album, too bad it has the same name as Megadeth's.
Justin beiber - baby. After that, I loved every single song ever not made by beiber, 'cause they're all amazing compared to his shit.
The below song got me into the great world of experimental metal. The song below got me into Ska.
This got me interested in the beach boys. I never thought I would like them.

This one probably got me into everything electronic basically.
this got me into The Beatles and really into British Invasion stuff
Used to be purely a metal man. Then I heard this, and have a sudden need to learn bass.
Once I listened to this, I became a fan of Aerosmith, some music from the 60s-early 90s and a fan of D.O.A
Needles by system of Down!
Redneck by Lamb Of God Down with the sun by Insomnium
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Daft Punk was what originally what got me into electronic music. Their unique and innovative sound was new to my ear and it sounded amazing. Credence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son This song by CCR was the band that truely got me hooked on classic rock. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Black Sabbath is the band that made me a metal head. Listening to this one song got me hooked listening not only to them, but to other 60s and 70s metal bands. Megadeth - Peace Sells Megadeth was the main band that made me listen to thrash metal. They're currently my most listened to band on Last.fm
Turned me from rock and metal within days of listening to more of his songs.
This is basically the song that got me into pink floyd, and that ultimately led to my love of classic rock. (dosent start till about 20 seconds in.)
Toto-Africa
Metallica- Master of Puppets, listened to it for the first time when I was around 10, pretty much got me into metal/rock.

Octavarium by Dream Theater They are the main reason I listen to Prog at all.
This is my local farmers market band. They made me really enjoy bluegrass. I would go see them every weekend. Its at the Santa Cruz Farmers Market at Cabrillo College, the local community college.
Genesis - Justice Phantom was first song I ever heard from them. At first, I considered them decent but lost interest of them days after. It wasn't until hearing Genesis in the Assassin's Creed 2 trailer a couple of months later that sparked my love for them and the house/electro scene. Lights - Ellie Goulding This one was pretty recent. Fell in love with the song the minute I heard it and I became a huge fan.
Bring Me to Life by Evanescence. I really liked Evanescence and one of my friend's recommended a Nightwish song to me. Then I went from Nightwish to Epica, which then got me listening to Kamelot. Then bands like PAIN, Indica, Evergrey, Amaranthe and ReVamp are from seeing those live. Before I listened to Evanescence I was pretty into electronic music and not much else
pop tones is quite deep for a punk song and it really opened the door way to that really brittle sharp post-punk that i always listen to sonic youth was my calling card when it came to music tastes when i was a teenager and that led to whatever it led stereolab leads you to those bands that are too cool for their own good
