OP spelled "basically" wrong... not a good way to declare his own maturity
I've come across the rare mature under 17 gamer. It happens, it's just not that often. The high school mentality seems to follow the kids that are maybe less popular in school and then they overcompensate by being absolute little dickspots online because people are dickspots to them in RL.
Just my opinion. But I do agree that with age comes wisdom. When I was 14 I was a little prick online. Annoying and elitist. But on that same point, I would lie about my age back then and then people instantly treat your opinions with more respect and you gain the guise of being more intelligent. So there is a vein of discrimination that comes with ones age, but I also think that it's warranted discrimination. Not as though you kids have done a whole lot to make us think otherwise.
Ok, maybe I should of included "Alot of kids don't know everything, but treat them with fucking respect"
You can't join the army and expect the same amount of respect a general gets on your first day.
You can't get a job and demand that you receive the same treatment as your boss.
And you can't be 14 years old and tell adults that you have a right to own firearms and rent a car and shit like that. This will probably only elicit more uppity teenage rebellion, but you'll understand when you're older.

Yeah you can get away with lying about your age if you're civil enough and you know how to spell, but it kind of flies out the window if you either tell everyone how young you are or act like a dumbass.
I hate people who are age elitists. Some children (excluding 12 year old microphone gamers) are exceedingly intelligent and mature. You should base people on their maturity, not their age.
A mature person is not someone who can be unsupervised by their parents and not doing some damage. I constantly see kids saying "I'm young but very mature", like you even know what's being mature... You see a person's maturity in tough times... It's like what it's said: "You only see the truth of someone's when that person is drunk or in charge" ...
And you go to any game, and find a kid as admin (in charge) and you see the true shitfest (I used gaming as example because in RL, a kid in charge (doesn't happen) who makes a shitfest is just slapped and it ends)
(P.S. Comparing age discrimination to racism? lol not even going to elaborate... someone who compares those 2 would probably just cover their ears and yell "nanananana" to what ever is told to them)
Don't worry, everyone goes through this phase when they hit teenage years and suddenly think they know everything.
This.
Also I know how you told us to exclude squeaky-voiced teens but some 15-16 year olds still have a fucking annoying voice that makes them sound retarded (for some reason they are in most cases) and I feel that they ought to be treated as such.

Except most aren't.

OP is 13.

That's because you got to earn it.
That has nothing to do with age discrimination.

Most does not mean all.
OP is 14
Also, age discrimination is not racism at all. Racism is treating someone badly because of the colour of their skin, a completely arbitrary factor that has little bearing on who they are. 12 year olds are incredibly immature almost all the time, it's perfectly reasonable to think differently of children, they don't have the best attitude when it comes to maturity. Which is good really, they're kids.

Of course, that makes a world of difference.

I'm asking for respect, not rights.
Meh, I kind of agree it really depends on how mature the person is. If the person has a dumb opinion then yes, they might be dumb, however saying the person is 13 is completely ridiculous. Sometimes it might be because they worded things wrong, was misinformed, didn't think before typing, or just plain trolling. I have to agree with OP a bit but still, maturity and understanding takes a large role when interacting with people on Facepunch. I also agree with the people that say being wise comes with age, that's actually a great point.
OP is 14? This is the equivalent of a black guy writing a thread titled "Ain't them crakas racist?"
(Not saying all black guys talk like that):3:

Ah, someone who finally understands.
Yes, wise does come with age
if the person does not show respect, he shall not get any respect (Did I ever disrespect anyone? I only showed disrespect once to that one guy that trolled me, and I flamed him back.)
Some people spell some words wrong because the person is not gifted with spelling.
Listen guys, I just want to stop this age discrimination to people that do not deserve it.

My little mind did not understand that joke...
Well I just want to point out that this whole "if you're under 18, your opinions are invalid" or "If you are 14, you go on /b/"
Only part I agree with. I hate it when say some one in their teenage years tries to state an opinion, older people brush it off an go "You're young. You're wrong. End of story." Yet when an adult says the same opinion, it's right.
But if you're below the certain age for thing such as drinking, driving, owning firearms, etc., then deal with it. It's because you don't know how to handle the situation in case something goes wrong, 9/10 times.
If you think someone's stupid because they're young, get out. If you think someone can't handle a certain situation because they're young, then maybe. If you think that the only think young people can't do is what the law restricts (stated in last paragraph), and that's the only restriction, then you've got it right.

I don't think the OP is saying "Older people are ignorant, because they're ageist."
Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

You said it before ; Respect has to be earned.
You said it before ; Respect has to be earned.
Gah, how could I earn respect then?
By not being an obnoxious 14year old kid.
In other words, be mature.
Im not Obnoxious, well I don't think.
Well, maybe some admins think im obnoxious
ok maybe all
:smith:
I am nearly 21 years old. Ever teenager I meet up to the age of 17, I see as an angsty retard. Sorry, but I've yet to see one who proved me wrong not to.
If a 10 year old acts like a 20 year old, I will befriend that kill without a doubt. But first I will bully him due to the simple fact that kids rage easy, which is one of the reasons they're so annoying.
This. But bully is a strong word. I'd just sort of tease him a little. Totally with my dick too.
Rainbows?
I'm asking for respect, not rights.
:cawg:
Yeah, you're taking insults too seriously. Ignore those people no matter how old they are.
If you wanted respect, don't make a thread about it.
You've basically shot yourself in the foot making a thread about this.
kids who think their superior to their peers are more annoying than their peers
It's everywhere if you didn't know that.
that's the joke, you're really bad at this
[editline]01:37AM[/editline]
I'm asking for respect, not rights.
you can have all the rights the law will allow but fuck you gotta earn respect and you're not going in the right direction for that
If you act mature you're golden in almost every community except Runescape.
Gee, maybe don't tell your age and act mature?
Gee, maybe don't tell your age and act mature?
I don't really see how age has to do with any thing in this matter. If a person is mature and smart enough to form their own opinion and gain respect, why should they have to lie about their age?
Say there was a very famous person on Facepunch whose arguments could tip into favor with and convince other people of their opinion. What if that person came out and said they were actually 13 this whole entire time?
What if that person came out and said they were actually 13 this whole entire time?
I would gradually lose respect for that person because usually whenever someone comes out like that they start acting like what they actually are.
kinda like as soon as a gay person comes out they're all megagay for a few weeks before they settle down

What? I've never heard of this stereotype.

This, but most of the time they are related. There is a reason why you can't vote or drink or have sex until you are older.
