Well, watched a couple more episode of GitS over the past few days. Seen 9 episodes now. So far it's okay, above average or average, I dunno, but it seems to be something that may catch my interest more as it progresses.
The problem with Ghost in the Shell is the talking. I already knew it was going to be talk heavy, and I don't really mind that in shows, I rather like it. (which is why I liked Inglorious Basterds so much)
But... The talking... You read it, you understand it, 5 seconds after you go "what did he/she just say?". It just kind of kills a lot of mood and makes me unconcentrated because there is so much actual information that goes out there all the time, and you just can't grab it, you just see it passing by understanding it all and then forget it right after... Like cramming for a test.

Admittedly that also happened to me a bit when I watched it. Eventually it sort of went away as I got further in.

As previously mentioned here it doesn't really become interesting or anything before the actual story comes in (the show contains the Laughing Man story, and then the rest are episodes for character development, information and all that jazz you want to get to know the people in the show.) which is around episode 5.
The first episode is really boring alright, but you should at least watch episode 2.
