What mostly annoys me is, people around me try to brainwash me into Islam. You won't meet a single Muslim person in real life who will be okay with you being an Atheist. I get bashed every time. "Stay away from me, you are an Atheist" I'm pretty serious about this. I get disrespected and mocked because I'm an Atheist. I've seen someone getting beaten up because he was an Atheist.
I've met at least 5 who aren't like that, and they don't parade around their religion either. Don't generalize.
If you are a Muslim, you have to follow the book. If you don't follow the book, you are not a Muslim. The book states the rules of Islam, what to do and what not.
Good lord. Yes, I'm not the most devout muslim, but that doesn't make me not a muslim. The book also states levels of heaven and requirements to reach each one. And generally you advance levels by following certain teachings.
I've met at least 5 who aren't like that, and they don't parade around their religion either. Don't generalize.
And I work with muslims daily, and I think I've only ever seen one or two that were like lolspreadislamtoeveryone, but hell, I've seen way more Jehovah's witnesses.
In the US religion is classed as a race for some reason, fuck knows why, but still, you're an imbecile, respect other people if you want them to respect you.
I was a black Jehovah's Witness.. Amongst whites, asians (korean, viets, chinese, japs), Hispanics, Russians (still whites but from russia) ALL in my congregation In school I knew the common looking dessert muslim, then some black muslims Other christian groups outside of JW's were just even more diverse ... i could go on I'm really fucking confused where you're getting this from. Was everyone just color coded in your pocket of the united states?
I've met at least 5 who aren't like that, and they don't parade around their religion either. Don't generalize.
Guess why. When they are populated, they can say and do whatever they want. Because they have their supporters around them. But a Muslim who is living in a non-Islamic country couldn't do that.
If you are a Muslim, you have to follow the book. If you don't follow the book, you are not a Muslim.
And I work with muslims daily, and I think I've only ever seen one or two that were like lolspreadislamtoeveryone, but hell, I've seen way more Jehovah's witnesses.
funny you just mention them [editline]2nd April 2011[/editline]
There is a part in the bible that tells you to never shave your beard, how many christian people with monsterbeards do you see?
"interpretation" makes life a lot more flexible
You can hate whatever you want. Nobody will stop you.
Guess they call this section 'Bullshit' for a good reason.
Extremists, whether they're Christians or Muslims makes the biggest appearance and the non-extremists are being left in the dark. Thus making them stereotypes or generalizes them. /thread
Don't take the book too literally. "Kill the Non-believers" thing is outdated thinking. There is also a saying never kill the innocence even if he/she is not a Muslim which contradicts this.
Good lord. Yes, I'm not the most devout muslim, but that doesn't make me not a muslim. The book also states levels of heaven and requirements to reach each one.
Extremists, whether they're Christians or Muslims makes the biggest appearance and the non-extremists are being left in the dark. Thus making them stereotypes or generalizes them. /thread
Agreed, it's obvious none of us are changing sides.
funny you just mention them [editline]2nd April 2011[/editline] "interpretation" makes life a lot more flexible
The funny thing is, I like discussing religion even though I'm an atheist, so they don't really bother me unless they're disrupting something I'm doing like working, but there's annoying people of all races and religions.
I don't really get why people believe in some religion and refuse to give it up even when threatened with death and killed for refusing to give it up. There was a crusader captured by the Turks, and they said he either had to give up Christianity or be executed, he very sensibly chose to give up his religion as all people in such situations should.
Don't take the book too literally. "Kill the Non-believers" thing is outdated thinking. There is also a saying never kill the innocence even if he/she is not a Muslim which contradicts this.
And god didn't foresee this confusion?
Also, most of the Muslims haven't read the qur'an. Islam turned into some kind of tradition. From parents to the children. About 80% of my friends here are Muslims, and they told me that they haven't read qur'an yet. How the fuck would you be a Muslim if you don't know shit about it? It's like saying that you are a nuclear engineer but you don't know anything about nuclear engineering.
About 80% of my friends here are Muslims
You killed half your argument.

It's boring as fuck to read, and a shit ton gets lost in translation anyway so why even bother(The most famous one is them mistaking 616 for 666 :v: )
Agreed, it's obvious none of us are changing sides.
eradication by re-education (to the offspring... no use fixing "old parts" aka long time believers)
OP, Read Forum Rules before posting
Bad ideas for threads: School Unfair parents Religion My x hurts/is sick/is dead Parody threads, etc. etc....

You killed half your argument.
He had one to start with?
You killed half your argument.
No, I didn't. About 80% them are Muslims, why? There aren't any Atheists down here. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. I didn't tell them that I am an Atheist yet, and I'm not going to.
You killed half your argument.
he just made a slight linguistic miscalculation. His friends were brought into muslim families
Guess why. When they are populated, they can say and do whatever they want. Because they have their supporters around them. But a Muslim who is living in a non-Islamic country couldn't do that.
A Muslim in a non-Islamic country can't not do that, if a Muslim wanted to do that sorta thing in another country, they could, if they thought like that. But not every Muslim thinks that way, I'm good friends with 2 of the 5 I know and they're some of the nicest people I've ever met.
If you are a Muslim, you have to follow the book. If you don't follow the book, you are not a Muslim. The book states the rules of Islam, what to do and what not.
Still, if you're ignoring unpleasant aspects of the book you can just ignore that rule too.
He had one to start with?
Point taken. You killed your own bashfest.
OP, Read Forum Rules before posting
This is a great thread. What are you talking about?
