I don't understand the appeal of the Godzilla films. At least, the very traditional ones, I think they're very overrated. They released a whole slew of them that feel incredibly samey and have effects that are cute and novel, but really are the most immersion breakingly bad effects I've seen in a while.
There's apparently another one coming out too, and from what I saw of the trailer it's yet another samey looking Godzilla film with effects that look dated on release.
I dunno, maybe I'm just missing the appeal.
I think you have to be either japanese or over 50 to enjoy godzilla
I don't understand the appeal of the Godzilla films.
I think really it's an acquired taste. There's 30 in the series (31 if you count '98), and they span over a period of 62 years.
I understand if it's difficult to jump into feet-first. The Showa series (60s-70s) is campy, the Heisei series (80s-90s) is "muh canon", the Millennial (99-04) is all over the place, and Shin Gojira is literally whatthefuckhideakianno.
If you do find interest in them, go ahead and hit me up. It's a real fun series if you relax. They're not comparable to other films, especially western ones, it's such a different genre
No man's sky turned out to be disappointing, and that's fine, but the people defending it are obnoxious. I don't consider a game worth 60 dollars if it's only selling point is that it's comfy. Hello Games was purposely vague in order to build up hype, and the games backlash has been a natural result of that. Saying facepunch has a hate brigade towards it is a terrible argument.
Not going to lie, I'm actually sad that No Man's Sky became such a disappointment. They really bit off more than they could chew

I am too, but the 60 dollar price tag really takes away some sympathy. It really feels like they are just cashing in on the hype.

I think the "$60 is just what the prices are today" is a load of bull anyways. It just excuses companies to charge out the nose for games before they inevitably cram you with DLC
I don't buy 60€ games anymore. I either buy them on sale or they are cheaper to begin with. No, but don't overcharge for games.
Some people don't understand the point of this thread, and should leave. Sometimes people share unpopular opinions (and yes sometimes they can be horrible), but seeing people attacking this person for using the thread's purpose is just plain wrong. We must uphold a mindset to not fear whenever we speak our minds, and we should be recieved with respectful manners as adults.

There's a difference between unpopular opinions, and stupid opinions.
There's a difference between unpopular opinions, and stupid opinions.
That is entirely subjective; some may not see it stupid, while others don't.
Also, aren't stupid opinions (the minority) still an unpopular one, since those who oppose that opinion is the majority? Because if it is a stupid opinion, it must be a lot of people who's against it.
Ok there's a difference between unpopular opinions and flat out inflammatory opinions
Yes.

I'm easily tired of the "Godzilla stomps on a city" disaster style films (besides the incredibly good first film); but when he throws down with other monsters it becomes one of my favorite series ever.
Plus is has such a history that in watching the series you see the world progress over the decades, film styles change, story expectations are different, aesthetics vary wildly -- it's really appealing factor to me. That's also a reason I love the Bond franchise.

Nah, I think that''s bullshit. There is a hate bridgade and it's people's own faults for the most part. Let's be honest, if you saw the trailers for No Man's Sky, heard what the devs said about it, and heard that it was a procedurally generated space exploration game and you hyped it up to be more than was said in your head, your disappointment is on you. I think the only real arguable point is multiplayer. They said there will be multiplayer and there isn't. That's a reasonable criticism.
Other than that, I think it looks fine. I won't pay full price for it but I was never going to. Saying it's not worth 60 dollars is a pointless criticism because it's completely subjective. I don't remember the last game I paid 60 dollars for. Very few games are ever worth 60 dollars to me. I'm sick of the hype train backlash that's just a circle jerk of nitpicking stupid fucking things about the game because you built it up to be more than was shown and sour grapes. People are so bad at judging games, I'm continually flabbergasted when people are let down by games after seeing trailer after trailer of the same garbage and eating it up.

Say shit, get hit

"I believe green should be called blue" is not an unpopular opinion, it's only stupid

Just because it's the unpopular opinions thread doesn't mean you're immune to having your opinions criticized. It's the same idea as freedom of speech. You're free to say whatever the hell you want. But others are free to say what they think of anything stupid you say.
Unpopular opinion:

Or you could ignore it instead of fueling it, which leads to even more derailment and shitposting. Instead of spending time judging this person, lets act calm and explain to this person that what he said was wrong and uninformed (and why) so he can improve himself, or else we'd look bad just like them, while contributing to nothing. You don't kick a student for being wrong.
"I believe green should be called blue" is not an unpopular opinion, it's only stupid
Except I'm refering to different contexts.

There's a difference between providing valid criticism to a person's opinion and belief than attacking them while being disrespectful. I'm not talking bout the general communication here which is good, it's just that sometimes there is this user who's acting bad towards others without critizising.

The only time that actually happens is when someone says something exceptionally stupid or refuses to accept when they're wrong so it's basically a complete nonissue?

Never said that. If they don't wish to learn, they're the ignorant one.

So by your own admission you're basically just getting worked up over nothing then? I'm kinda confused at what point you're actually trying to make if that's the case.
Well since people are either putting words in my mouth, or it's just me writting bad english (sorry for that) since there's been a missconception and nobody likes me here; I'll leave this thread. All I want is this thread to be a nice and friendly place. It'll just turn into a non-stop argument and the thread should stay it's course.
See you somewhere else.

The debates in here are generally reasonably civil, not sure what you're talking about. You can't just dump whatever opinion and expect it to go unchallenged.
If someone posts something horrible and won't put a reasonable defense behind it then they do deserve shit.
I don't think The Witcher 3 is anything special. I mean, I only put in like 6-7 hours into it so far, but I wouldn't say my first impressions were great and I just never felt compelled to continue playing it (especially when it's like 30-50 hours long or something).

I did the same (and I still haven't finished it) but it did get more engaging the further I went.
I've yet to be able to get into Witcher 3... I just hate the way the combat feels and the way the game handles progression feels awful.
It's a shame because I like everything else about it quite a bit.
"Ignorance of the law is not an excuse" is an extremely dumb saying.
"Ignorance of the law is not an excuse" is an extremely dumb saying.
nah, you go into a country and break it's laws then that's not on the country, that's on you.
of course there's countries with fucking dumb laws but hey you still gotta obey them if you're there and don't want to get arrested.

Except it's literally the truth
Go commit any crime and use that defense
