Unpopular Opinions V6 You know maybe fascism wasn't all that it was cracked up to be

Another unpopular belief I have: we don't exist - at least not in the way we often see ourselves. Our identities are just a matter of convenience when interpreting reality, but what I think is far more likely is that we're just a pattern of electrical signals, chemical balances, and other physical properties of the brain that is ever-changing. "I", "we", "you" - these are all conveniences. They're just concepts that we use because addressing the physicality of our beings is very abstract for everyday living, so it all gets generalized into an identity sometimes associated with the body (which I disagree with).
I think that the human mind could be broken down into scientifically understandable mechanisms of chemistry and physics, and could also be emulated by a machine for this reason. I think that at some point machines and people will become seriously blurred for me in spite of the general superiority humans feel towards everything. And our understanding of identity and consciousness will only become more confusing but endearing for philosophers and scientists - not only for research in AI but also because of general research with stuff like understanding anesthesia's effects on the brain, and whether or not it can lead to a quantification of consciousness.
Big budget and big studio entertainment is getting objectively worse over time. Not that it's all bad, but it is mostly getting worse.

I don't entirely agree, but industries (much like life itself) have upward and downward trends all the time. Right now I guess you could say things are on the downward trend, but I don't think that means we'll never see an upward trend, and I don't think that stops good things from coming out while things may be looking sorta grim for now.
In terms of big studios though, I think its more a matter of how they're run that's causing this downward trend so much as just the simple fact that they are big budget studios.

No yes I recognize this downward trend, I'm not saying things are going to get worse forever. I know that establishment Hollywood and a lot of other industries are going to get replaced by something newer and innovative, like Netflix, before that new status quo gets stale and repetitive and gets replaced itself. It seems to happen with everything related to humans such as civilizations.
I just don't like living in the time period where we are experiencing this decline. I guess you can thank the Chinese for delaying this death because what the west finds crap they find new and exciting, a good portion of consumers of western media are the Chinese (most major films are not even made with their native audiences in mind) so I wouldn't expect things to get better for another decade or so until China gets bored of Thor 7.

I honestly was thinking you were talking more about games at first, and yeah I guess i misinterpreted the post a bit and thought you were saying that it was gonna be in permanant decline. Oh well. :v:
But yeah the film industry especially is in a weird place right now IMO. People say games are in a bad place but honestly at least theres alot of new and/or interesting stuff coming out of it at the moment.
The film industry is likely going to evolve quite a bit later in our lifetime though, yeah. Hollywood will gradually become more and more irrelevant once the chinese market starts to realize that most of what Hollywood makes isnt that new or interesting. And new places for the industry to thrive will likely begin to flourish in it's place.
In the case of games however, AAA games aren't in a fantastic state either but I honestly don't think its irreparable. It's likely going to be hard for existing, established studios/publishers to regain the trust of their consumers unless they're like, say Devolver Digital or some other fresh(er) face to the industry. I do think that in time alot of the industry's problems will fix themselves in the AAA end however, but it's gonna require alot of work for studios such as say, EA and Capcom to rebuild the trust of their consumers after things they've done in the past. To me though? It does sort of feel like those studios in particular are doing something about it. But to me I feel like the AAA industry in the future will be made up of a few established names here and there, but mostly made up of new publishers and studios.
TL;DR
[sp]The movie industry is in a bad place but once the chinese market realizes that most of what they're seeing isn't unique it will repair itself. Game industry is in a better but still not good place too but consumers are starting to realize what some of these existing studios are doing, and hopefully will be "voting with their money" to decide which companies get to stay or get to go. Hopefully by 2030 Minions 4 and Metal Gear Pachinko 15 wont be things that exist.[/sp]

I am legitimately curious as to what on earth could make you possibly hate burgers

here's an unpopular opinion: the only food I eat with the word "bean" in it is a jelly bean. All other beans are gross to me, even green beans which I'm not even sure are actually beans
Not even baked beans?
Crock pot baked beans with some leftover beef are heavenly. Just a shame that they take too long to make on a whim.

The bread is wasteful (empty calories and usually doesn't taste good) and burger meat doesn't taste good.

Disgusting. Those tomatoes are fucking huge. They'll drown out the taste of everything else in the burger and since tomatoes taste like ass that entire burger tastes like ass.
A tiny bit of tomato, like a tiny bit of onion, compliments the taste and adds to it. Too much though and it's just a tomato/ onion sandwich with extra calories packed on.
I don't like burgers but if you think tomatoes taste like ass you haven't had the right tomatoes.

to be fair generic anything doesn't taste great in general, care has to be taken when making anything, and it's only as good as the quality of the ingredients you put in it.
I don't like burgers but if you think tomatoes taste like ass you haven't had the right tomatoes.
I just don't like regular tomatoes standalone. They taste great on pizza and on burgers in small quantities. Also I love most tomato byproducts, such as tomato sauce, juice, and ketchup.
Im not a big fan of red meat in general. I'll take fish or chicken any day of the week over steak or a burger.
Something I've noticed about myself is that I like making audacious claims, and it's been part of my goal as a person to stop. I've previously said I dislike mashed potatoes, but that's only true for the mashed potatoes that I've had, which is mostly mashed potatoes from family or fast food restaurants. There's far more ways to prepare mashed potatoes than the norm, which seems to be potato + butter around family in Las Vegas. There's other people that realize that potatoes aren't their own driving force and needs to be either treated as an auxiliary food or given some pizzazz to taste awesome. And with that I've found that my bar for good mashed potatoes is just higher than most people's.
I think this is similar for burgers. At a basic level, you can get burgers rare, medium-rare, medium, medium-well, and well-done. And alongside that are different sources of beef, different seasonings, condiments, and flavorings, different styles (I mean, look at how food differs region to region in the US), and overall quality. A Burger King Whopper is far different than a burger from a five-star restaurant. A Santa Fe Creamy Jalapeno burger is different from a standard In-N-Out burger.
For that reason I think it's best to only say you dislike a type of food after you've exhausted the variants. That is an unpopular opinion in itself, but you can't say you dislike something until you've experienced at least most of it. I think it's better to say stuff like, "I'm not into your average burger", or "From what I've had, burgers aren't great." I think how we speak affects how we think, and using qualifiers help maintain an open mind.
Barry Obarry should have gone to the meeting with Duterte so he could catch his fade instead of cancelling.
The Halo series as a whole is now a joke and a waste of time. Terrible writing, completely botching everything that made the older games interesting, the well structured story and arch from the first 3 (even though I absolutely hated Halo 2's SP). It's a total mess and I absolutely hate the art direction they've been taking the games from 4 onwards.
I think the "you reap what you sow" phrase is condescendingly annoying and a stupid way of justifying certain "somebody suffered to some extent" situations, especially when you consider that anyone could just as easily use that exact phrase for any other situation where someone gets hurt because of something they did regardless of the morality of said action.
I can understand why "colored person" is not the wisest thing to say, but I really don't understand why people are saying "person of color" instead. It's the exact same phrase but with the words swapped around.

Honestly using anything other than black, white, or where they're from as an identifier is silly.

Agreed about the second part, but like every other statement, context is important. It's no different from saying that all actions have consequences. They can't necessarily be good or bad, especially in a world as complicated as ours. For instance, if you were to use that statement with regards to a gangster who got killed in a police encounter, it might be considered justified. If you were to say the same about a guy who simply tried to be helpful in X situation but ended up being hurt or killed, that's being an asshole no matter how you slice it.

It has more to do with the historical context of colored person and its connotations with the era of slavery and apartheid.

It's sort of like why "Jap" is considered culturally insensitive despite it being just the first 3 letters of Japanese or how Negro is considered a slur despite it being literally black in Spanish. How it was used in one point in time or another affects it's connotation today.

I actually really hate the term "African American". To me, these people aren't African American, they're just American. For so many of them, the only thing African about them is their skin colour. They haven't been to Africa. They don't know the languages or the customs. A lot of them don't even know where in Africa they're from.
Same thing goes for "Irish" Americans (or plastic paddies as I hear the Irish call them).

Crock pot meat let alone with beans makes me thing of rotting flesh for some reason and I just can't eat it. It also smells fucking awful.
I personally detest Mexican food too, the ingredients they use and how they're used make abominations that people call food. I will agree though that salsa Verde if spicy enough is the most bomb chip dip to ever exist
