Heroes of the storm has this problem and I fucking HATE it. Heroes cost 2000-10000 gold, quests give about 300-1000 (higher values are rarer,) and winning a game gives you about 10-15 gold. Brand new hero comes that you want to play? See you in a few weeks because it's literally unfeasible to just grind out someone you really want.

And the best part is that modders are actually paid for their work being added to the game. I wish more would look at dota 2 for inspiration. especially riot fuck riot characters + runes is BS.

Even though Dota 2's model [i]is[/i] the objective best when it comes to its F2P model, I think Smite's is also pretty fair. It has the normal, "Play games, to get points, to unlock characters" model, but they also have a bundle that allows you to unlock every character now and forever for $30. (Which goes on sale at least once a month or so) Since gods are the only gameplay element you can buy/unlock (No LoL runes or anything like that), the bundle is essentially buying the game like normal, while being F2P can be seen more as a demo or a test run.

I don't get when people defend films by being like "dude it's just dumb fun, just turn your brain off". Not being intellectual high art isn't an excuse for being bad. There are plenty of fun action/adventure films that don't require intense thinking but are actually good and aren't riddled with plot holes and other flaws. Not requiring the viewer to think is fine; requiring them not to think is a problem.

Totally agree with you on this one, the Smite god pack is infinitely better than League.

I do wish other companies who insist who pursuing F2P games this would take note.
