Overwatch is a MOBA and it's more or less advertised as one with the forced e-sports aspect
None of the gamemodes play remotely like a MOBA, none of the map design is like a MOBA, there's no PVE elements, no lanes, no towers, no leveling, no equipment, multiples of a hero on a team, changing hero mid-match...
You're right it's a dead ringer for a MOBA alright.
And they've barely been pushing it like an e-sport. If you've been following the development, they've been making a conceited effort to make a good basis for the game first and then focus on the competitive scene from there.
I would say a Hero-based roster, PVE elements, and mid-match leveling are the baseline required elements of a MOBA. Outside of the roster, Overwatch doesn't have either.
HOTS has all of those, but their impact is reduced by so much compared to your usual dota-like (except for leveling which is still big) that it often feels like they're not even there. Overwatch is the same but with those things not actually there. I'm a MOBA fan and that's exactly what makes me interested in Overwatch
But again, I'm trying to convey how broad a genre it is, not how neatly it fits into the definition

It has aspects from MOBAs, but that doesn't make it a MOBA. Lots of games have RPG elements but that doesn't make them RPGs.
There are so many elements shared across the MOBA genre that aren't in Overwatch, that to me, saying it's actually part of the genre is a stretch. But whatever, at the end of the day it's not like what "genre" it's in is really relevant.

i'm just classifying it like i'd classify a movie. you get a comedy with drama, plenty of people will call it a bit of a drama, or a bit of a comedy. overwatch is a bit of a moba
If you get your car stolen because you left it unlocked and left the keys in your car, it's your fault it got stolen.
I mean that's an unpopular opinion in some circles but still.

You'd be a dumbass but I still think that doesn't excuse the blame for whoever stole your car
i'd say yes
it's not much but you don't really need much imo
the definition is already so vague. multiple classes, abilities with a cooldown and one ultimate skill are enough already
Christ this is basically creating another "rogue-like" where "rogue-like" became a term with virtually no meaning
Truman was the 4th best US president after the three greats (Washington, Lincoln, FDR).
Overwatch has the spirit of a MOBA, but the gameplay of TF2 but with much more variance of character ability.
It's not actually a MOBA. And it's also not a class based shooter. When people say "I need healing" they don't follow up with "switch to Support" because that could mean one of four things, two of which aren't that great at healing. You pick a character, class is entirely inconsequential. Here's where the MOBA spirit actually shows. Or you could compare it to something like a fighting game cause it's kinda the same except not strictly 1v1.

moba-like :saxout:

But TF2 does the same :v: It splits characters between 'offensive', 'defensive' and 'support', even though each character has a very distinct role.

There's a difference in that you can change your character's loadout but that wasn't the case on release.
Outside of roadhog, overwatch's character designs are boring and forgettable.

I just kinda go by "Musclebro" and "Titslady" at this point. And "Cowboyperson"
There's no motivation for any of the characters in Overwatch. In Team Fortress 2, the Meet The Team videos are very much explanatory of what the characters are and what their purposes are, and who they are, and what they do.
Overwatch's trailers are just like "Oh by the way Winston is a sad Gorilla who wants to meet his friends again. But we don't need to explain why that is, just watch this trailer"
Why is overwatch banned? What is their motivation? What is the badguy's motivation? Why is reaper constantly farting into/out of existence?

There's no substance to the game, just flash

Dunno if Fox will consider the idea of churning out sequels. Have to wonder if it'd be better for his character to be rebooted for use in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Poe's law is awful for discourse. Right-wing. Left-wing. People need to stop taking shit meant as satire seriously to feed into their confimation biases.

nope
PB is great and all but DD is one of my few 10/10 albums
I love sushi as much as the next person, but I can't help but think that hot food in Japanese restaurants is always considered to be an afterthought.

if you go by that logic overwatch is every game genre.
Overwatch is not normally my type of game, its not the style i go for and i really wasn't a fan of TF2.
But yet something about this game is really addictive, maybe its the balance? It doesn't feel like it's impossible to beat a certain "OP" class. Sure if you're someone like Tracer, its harder to beat a tank of somekind but its not impossible. It's actually a skill based game, you have to be good and have to practice to get better.
Though some songs are good, overall the radio in GTA 5 is pretty bad. And the enemies in that game are kinda aimbottish.

Personally I give 0 shits about lore in a multiplayer shooter. That's not where the substance is.
Also the Meet the Team videos are funny but they don't give much context overall. And it took nearly five years after release for them to all come out.
The fact that whenever I hear about overwatch half of the time its not even about the game itself rather the characters with le butt or best girl or some sfm porn thing is pathetic and I'm tired of hearing of it honestly
Even as someone that adores the game, this gets annoying...

Radio Mirror Park for life. I've discovered so many good bands because of this station.
I don't think Fallout 4 is actually good, from what i heard.
Pretty sure Fallout 4 is a contender for my favorite game. I've put over 8 days of playtime on it and I've only had if for about 4 months. I can see why some parts of it didn't work for some people, but I was satisfied with basically everything it did. The complaints I have are so minor that they're almost not worth mentioning.
I'm waiting till the new DLC to actually finish the game
Fallout 4 is complete garbage.
After playing The Witcher 3 I cannot take FO4 seriously at all and this is coming from a BIG Fallout fan, I almost cried when it got announced. Really a huge dissapointment. I never even finished the game and uninstalled it, got way too fucking boring. One of the main quests is literally "go do multiple fetch quests so you can continue the main quest" fuck off.

I've been loving Fallout 4 in spite of all it's flaws. I put in 100 hours without even noticing and it feels like I've barely started with the game. Super glad to have finished the main quest too, and it has one of my favorite game characters, maybe all time favorite, in existence, so that's a big plus. (Love you Deacon)
Fallout 4 is going to get it's shit pushed in though when the inevitable happens and someone makes a total conversion so you can play Fallout New Vegas in Fallout 4's engine. Fallout 4's gameplay, graphics and technology mixed with New Vegas's almost everything else? That shit might even beat Fallout 1 in my eyes it'll be so good.
[editline]e[/editline]
just imagine how The Strip and Freeside could look in Fallout 4's engine since Fallout 4 did so much better with cities, and imagine how much better Benny could look and the Legion could actually look intimidating and hardcore mode could be worth a shit and when Frostfall for Fallout 4 hits if that's compatible with the Mojave just oh lawd
[...]and imagine how much better Benny could look[...]
I can see it now...
Looking a lot like Matthew Perry.
