I really don't get this "All opinions are valuable" thing. I would never consider the opinion of a Neo-Nazi or a Homophobe a valuable perspective.
They can fuck themselves. But I like to believe it's because of their existance, we know the horrors and we can use these people to remind ourselves to not repeat history. Make an example out of them. They're valuable because solutions rely strongly on bad factors. The more problems we solve, the better outcome.

"All opinions are equally Truthful" might be a more consistent position to take. On a more context-specific level, though, consider the Spartan practice of killing unfit babies. You could argue that baby-killing leads to a unhappier society, but you could also say that being free from having to take care of invalids makes the public happier overall. Fascism and bigotry are just different versions of this debate (i.e. a better society would have trait X/would not have trait Y) the underlying problem is that there is no objective version of "better" and nothing can ever be proven to be True. We can't say that a happier society is a better society unless we place arbitrary value on happiness.
what would be funny is a thread named "Unpopular Facts" use it as a cull to bait weirdos
what would be funny is a thread named "Unpopular Facts" use it as a cull to bait weirdos
Unpopular fact: black people and jews aren't real they were made up by the government

1984 is not a bad book by any means, but the fact that some people still consider it the end-all of political literature is giving Orwells novel way too much credit. Animal Farm is a much more thought out (and relevant) political universe and it's sad it gets overshadowed by 1984 even if they are both good novels. And please stop saying that 1984 is the best dystopian novel ever written, it really isn't.
lizard people, duh
I think the question still stands?
No one is above toilet humour it is the thing we all have in common when we are stripped of everything we base our identities on we still shit and fart

I find it hard to see a difference between drag and blackface in terms of its mockery of minorities
I find it hard to see a difference between drag and blackface in terms of its mockery of minorities
it depends how much thought they've put into it really, it can and has been used to make perfectly valid statements on gender. which is pretty far from "that guy in the frock has a moustache lol" like you see in a lot of low-brow british comedy

Drag queens get to take their costumes off and go be happy elsewhere because they don't have to deal with being trans or the real discrimination that comes from it. It's blackface but for the trans community, it's disgusting, and I'd never even think of considering drag queens members of the LGBT community in any way. They're detrimental as fuck
1984 is referenced way too fucking much by people here, it's as if they think they're incredibly educated for reading a book that all freshman highschoolers will have probably read by the end of their year. it also doesn't apply in so many situations but hey dictatorship or any amt of government control over *thing*? 1984 was this!!!!
Oh god I hate it when people use "Orwellian" when it comes to things like google watching your searches and giving you ads based on your recent interests.

Honestly I find drag queens and pride parades to be disgusting and pointless and all it does is make the LGBT community out to be some exotic creature rather than, idk, fucking normal like the rest of the world.

Let's dress up in women's clothing and be sexually suggestive, then wear assless chaps and pasties in public!" [editline]28th May 2016[/editline] Like I get that it's a "fuck you, we'll do what we want" kind of thing, but it isn't exactly going to convince people that you're a normal person like everyone else

Shouldn't you be happy?" No, I'm not. Should I be happy when the skinheads go out and march? They have the right to do it, sure, but it doesn't mean I'm not allowed to fucking hate them. [editline]28th May 2016[/editline] Oh and don't get me started on the bullshit "Please no inter-LGBT fighting!". Drag isn't part of LGBT lol
Choosing not to vote isn't a criticism, it's just abstaining from making your voice heard in the elections. If you want to criticise the political system or candidates, put some effort into it
this i consider my beliefs to be roughly anarchist and even i think voting is necessary for you to get the system you desire, regardless of what sort of person you're voting for. it's better to vote for a person you agree with MORE than to let the person you agree with LESS get voted into power. the only way for a lack of votes to amount to anything is if literally nobody votes (unrealistic)
Can we please have no intra-LGBT hatred, it's absolutely toxic.

I dislike cringe compilations. They are weirdly absorbing, but they just make me feel depressed and like I'm cringy.
Blame bigots who misinterpret drag Queens, not Drag Queens themselves. Drag Queens aren't harming anyone or advocating harmful ideas unlike racist skinheads. [sp]special note, Skinhead is a very wide culture that is rooted in multiculturalism and lower class British men, sadly it has been hijacked by racists as an image. :( there are plenty of anti-racist skinheads[/sp] [editline]28th May 2016[/editline]
I dislike cringe compilations. There is a fine line between genuine cringe, which is rooted in second hand embarrassment and empathy for a person, and just outright mocking. Facepunch cringe thread is REALLY bad about this.
