No video game series has better explosive combat/battle soundtracks than Kingdom Hearts. Like, the compositions are so incredibly raw and explosive, the sheer emotion conveyed by the violins going apeshit and overall frenzied pace of the tracks is absolutely engrossing.
Honestly, though, expanding on that, I'd like to add that Yoko Shimomura is hands down one of my favorite composers out there. The sheer scale and variety of the work she's created over the years is staggering, but I never really hear her mentioned up there with the greats.

Japanese video game composers are on another fucking level
Japanese video game composers are on another fucking level
The ridiculous technical skills shown in pieces composed by composers like Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura are just out of this world. Like, how do you just wake up one morning and crank out something like this. Such complex tracks with so much going on you can just listen to them over and over again.
Absolutely love them to death.

I would say that the only Western composer that can rival them would be Ryan Amon, who did most of the work for Bloodborne, the game that IMO has the best soundtrack of the decade so far.

Well, I really wouldn't play the comparison game among prominently video game related musicians, since many composers' styles wildly differ. For example, saying something like 'Oh Jeremy Soule is better than them' or 'can rival them' is just subjective since it's all down to personal taste and the like.
That being said though, it's a shame I can't listen to Bloodborne's soundtrack since I don't have a PS4, and still wish to maintain going in blind.

Even though Bloodborne wasn't my favorite Souls game, I will say that it has some of my favorite tracks. Both final boss themes (Base game[sp]Gehrman[/sp]& DLC[sp]Orphan[/sp]) are some of my favorite boss themes in any game. Kind of a shame that it being a PS4 exclusive means that a lot of people still haven't played it yet.
You'll only like Sanius Squad if you support what they do. (Which is pretty obvious, tbh) I loved it when they would shit on actual racists and put them in a corner, but I hated it when they would go too far left with some of the shit they would say.
Not a sadist, but I remember when thisispain or someone else called some dude a racist and he went full ghost breakdown saying "i'm not a racist!" and then everyone shat on thisispain for making the dude cry. That's how much everyone hated the Sanius Squad.

it was actually some anti-feminist bullshit
the thing with shit like this is it basically just takes a broad and abstract sociological concept and then completely misuses it. dude takes it as a personal slight and goes off on long rants while tpain did the equivalent of nodding and saying "yup" while looking to his audience and shaking his head
ironically enough, tpain was in a similar position to the guy and was the only one to actually offer him any decent advice after his big personal rantings.
of course you don't get posts like that nowadays, SH and the like feel much less diverse than they used to be

Where else can we go? Facepunch is where all the weird people come together in the first place.

i know that only too well my friend
Pretty sure this is an unpopular opinion, I dislike most youtube collabs. The vast majority feel forced as hell. The premise for each one basically goes
"Hey welcome to my show you guys today we're going to talk about-"
"nope hey I'm for real totally intruding in to this video and this was not a planned unfunny skit at all, we're enemies I guess"
"Other youtuber from other youtube review show?? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here because contrived reasons. Your game is too bad or something. I don't know."
"well fuck you other youtuber but how about instead of doing my normal fucking show that everyone actually wants to see, we do 8 more unfunny skit sections where we talk about anything but the subject matter of the video and on the whole you take up like 50 percent of the video"
It's just not funny. It never was funny. It's just annoying. If I wanna watch fuckin', I dunno, Jontron, I do not want to see ProJared come on to enact the same stupid unfunny plot from every other fucking collab video for the sake of advertising both of them. If I wanted to see Projared, I'd go watch a Projared video.

You're the goddamn king, we should do an unfunny collab sometime.

Well shit, I think we're doing an unfunny collab right now
Higher frame rates in television are much more needed than 4K right now and should be implemented first before we even think about increasing the resolution.
Long rant coming:
There is no such thing as tryharding when it comes down to games.
Most, if not all games are built upon the premise that there is the winner(s) and then there are the loser(s). To not seek the status of the "winner" is completely devoid of any logic whatsoever. You gain nothing and all your efforts have been but a waste of time. You don't even learn anything because that's only tied to true losses. The ones where you give your all but still fail. Those are the ones that make you a better player.
This applies especially to the competitive online games that seem to be all the craze these days. Dota, League of Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO. Maybe even Team Fortress 2 after the recent update. Their sole reason to exist is to provide an easy platform for high-octane competitive experience in a team based environment. Sure, public matches are still nothing compared to professional ones but they are still something. And to take that something away makes the game have no purpose.
So when someone calls me a tryhard, it pisses me off beyond measure. To "call me out" for trying to win. Not only is it idiotic but it also implies two things:
1. I don't play games for fun. An absurd claim.
2. Winning is apparently not fun.
I have always been a really empathetic person. But no matter how, I can not understand these people and their logic.
I agree to some extent. But while I try to win I also don't mind playing weaker characters/weapons/etc if they're fun, or trying new strategies, or doing things I'm bad at to try to get better, etc. Tryharding to me would be picking only what's the strongest in the meta for instance.

If I have to choose between winning while not having fun (by picking the meta things or something like that), and losing but still having a good time, I'd pick the latter.

This and this are my favourite Soulsborne songs. The entire soundtrack to Bloodborne is amazing though.
A lot of games aren't very fun if you're losing, though
I think it really depends on the context when it comes to "tryharding". Like when I play a game like Dota, OW, Smite, etc., I usually try to play to win. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to be 100% serious and will sometimes try something silly/risky, within reason.
Then there's when your on something non-serious at all like surf maps or skirmishing in OW, where people will mostly dick around. I'm usually the guy who's just crouching spamming voice lines. I guess what you can all "tryharding" there is when: Everyone is just dicking around, then one guy comes up and kills everyone. I kind of see it as a "Congratulations, you sure showed those people who weren't going to fight back."
Then again, there can be a times were someone dicking around too much can just become annoying. The people that go, "I'm a friendly _____! :D" then proceed to literally do nothing the entire game is something that usually bothers me. If it's something like a 32-man TF2 server, fine, those kinds of servers are usually never the most serious of places and having two or three people dicking around is fine. But if it's something like OW or Dota where the games are 6v6 and 5v5, then that one person dicking around can make it so nobody on their team (and maybe the enemy team too, depends) is having fun. Especially if the enemy team is still playing seriously, it just means you're constantly always one man down.
But like I said, it all depends on the context of what's going on.

The transition between Ludwig's two themes gives me chills every time. The first time I fought him and that happened I lost my fucking shit, so hype
I don't know if I can say it's the best game in the "series" but Bloodborne is easily my favorite of the "Souls" games.
Tryharding is when you play Smash Brothers and you're one of those "NO ITEMS, OMEGA MAPS ONLY!!!" type people.
Not everything has to be a competition.
What if you like to play casually but also prefer no items and not gimmicky maps?
Gaming could do with more international collaborations between Japanese and western developers.
I doubt most people will trust Keiji Inafune's word after Mighty No. 9, though I can't help but think that the consumer is definitely missing out on something due to the lack of east-meets-west collaboration. I guess the closest thing to that would be the GameCube's Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes which in turn was developed by Silicon Knights. Then again, I suppose we'll see the accuracy of my opinion when ReCore releases.
Nope, it's pretty liberal. Go to any trans rights thread and post something not liberal, you'll get disagreed with a lot. It's not just as liberal as some people would like.
But I'd gladly see your examples of why
Facepunch is liberal on some issues, but leans right when it comes to others. Gun control? Refugees? BLM? Racism or sexism in media?
Anyone not familiar with this place reads a thread about any of those things, "liberal" is the last thing they're gonna call Facepunch

Sure, there are people who don't subscribe 100% to liberal values. Different people different opinions. In terms of gun control most of Facepunch seems to be against limiting ones ability to own guns. Most are against BLM for reasons stated in every thread, but does that make you not liberal? And you'd be pretty hard pressed to find anyone that condones racism or sexism in media, which is all depending on context. On the other hand we have
- Pro marijuana
- Pro LGBT rights
- Pro freedom of choice
- Supports Bernie Sanders, and are annoyed that he lost
- Pro women and trans people serving in the military
- Just pro women's rights in general
- Has a pretty strong dislike of Donald Trump
- And so on
So I don't really get where you're getting that from.
And you'd be pretty hard pressed to find anyone that condones racism or sexism in media, which is all depending on context.
They don't condone it, they deny it
- Pro marijuana
True
- Pro LGBT rights
True, but I rarely see a trans thread that doesn't have someone saying it's ok to use the wrong pronouns
- Pro freedom of choice
True
- Has a pretty strong dislike of Donald Trump
Not entirely true? FP has normalized Trump as a candidate to an insane degree. A good chunk of users here see him as a better pick than Clinton. On average, yeah, I don't think most of FP likes him, but it's not as black and white as "Facepunch hates Trump"
- Pro women and trans people serving in the military

That's funny
They don't condone it, they deny it
Where are you getting this from? Most times I see this "denial" is when people claim that the media is making people sexist (or some shit)
True, but I rarely see a trans thread that doesn't have someone saying it's ok to use the wrong pronouns
And those people are either those that are in a minority, or those who aren't as exposed to transgendered people as some are.

I mean, I legit would mind actual counterpoints instead of comments like that
Removing ratings from SH was a great idea. Now we don't have pages of people falling for ratings trolls and far less zingers for zingers sake.
