So wait, when you guys talk about how shounen something is you've actually just been saying "looks a lot like it was meant for boys"
not used it as an umbrella term that refers to things like an overload of exposition, lots of flashbacks, stupid superpower/super abilities, love can overcome anything and people never fucking die amongst other things?
This truly changes everything. All along people have been using shounen and shoujo to describe who it was for (and for some reason using it as a complaint despite just being an informal word), not how the show was.

I don't know what everybody else in the thread has been doing, but I've always used shounen to describe the demographic, the shounen you're referring to is "shounen action"
I've also seen other people in this thread get corrected for using them like you have just now before, this isn't new.

Discussing anime is like discussing tastes in wine, everyone has shit tastes.
Instead let's all have some fun and enjoy it for what it is.

I'm not discussing anime, I'm discussing discussing anime.

anno did Gunbuster not Diebuster
anno did Gunbuster not Diebuster
He did do storyboard for Diebuster on ep 4 and 6.
He did do storyboard for Diebuster on ep 4 and 6.
well ep 6 is the best episode of Diebuster
so so i guess he worked on that
I don't see how it could have ended any other way. [sp]There was no way they were going to go full history and sink 4 of them at Midway, then pull back and lose. Even if they're going to do a second season, you knew full well they weren't going for a tragic ending, especially with all that talk about "fate" driving them to do certain things.[/sp]
[sp]Well people will go apeshit if that happen, so I guess its fair. What I didn't know is that the setting is actually in somewhat future time until this episode came out.[/sp]
Rest in peace johnfisher, your taste will forever be an enigma
Unexpected, it's a requested ban. Weird.
Latest Saekano episode didn't have enough sweat.
Saekano was the best harem I've seen in a while, and an overall enjoyable show. It had just the right amounts of comedy, fanservice, and in-fighting to be enjoyable, but not intrusive with anything, and it was very self-aware, with the characters making quips about tropes amongst and about themselves.
I feel like all the budget in Tokyo Ghoul √A went into the animation of blood dripping and an unnecessarily long, overly detailed walking sequence in the last episode that feels like it went on for 5 minutes.
Also I'm pretty sure they're making an :RE adaptation too so they can shit things up even more, along with this "Jack" OVA shit.
This is my favorite terrible series to follow. I can't wait to see how they fuck up next.
Any recommendations for someone that just finished Tasogare x Amnesia mango and wants more of the same but seinen instead of shounen?
Well, G-Reco didn't have much of an ending. Making your final battle take up like 18 minutes of the final episode will do that.

I ignored it this season because it's mal tags had ecchi and harem in it. Though I've learnt to doubt MAL's and always doublecheck anidb and it doesn't have those tags on there, strangely enough.
I finished two shows tonight. One was terrible, the other was the best thing I've watched in a while.
Parasyte was a fantastic surprise and I loved it all the way through. Last episode got kinda preachy though but I still enjoyed it.
Tokyo Ghoul √A was a total garbagefest from start to finish and they ended it with so many questions that they could probably create an entire 24 episode series with the shit they kept unresolved, and I would say they should but they've already proved twice now that they can't make a decent show :v:

It's a harem series, but I'd say its pretty great. It pokes fun at a lot of tropes, and the writing is pretty funny for what I thought was just going to be another seasonal harem.

Saekano ep 12 was pretty great tho [sp]Michiru in a maid outfit was adorable af- definitely best girl material, and that sorario days cover in the middle was totally unexpected, but amazing[/sp]
[editline]27th March 2015[/editline]
I'm actually curious though, how does saekano get away with using all these things from other shows (figures, posters, manga/ln covers, and now [sp]a song[/sp] without getting into trouble?
Decided to rewatch SDF Macross since the BD remasters have been out for a while. The best part of the early episodes is nobody having any idea what the hell they're doing. Such as what happens the first time they engage their anti-gravity.
