I hated it 8/10 - shit show
Klk's not really bad but it's totally overrated
It became popular so people started hating it
I hated it from the start before it was the hip thing to do. At least up to at least either ep 15 or 18ish.
no it's bad and that's why it became popular
Why do you consider it bad?
I liked Kill la Kill but I feel like it just barely missed the mark on becoming a great show, ending up just being pretty good instead.
at least it's not fuckin Ninja Slayer.
The story halfway through definitely takes a turn for the stupid
Why do you consider it bad?
barring the first episode i was so bored i checked the amount of time left in each episode like every 3 minutes and all of the characters were annoying
edit: idk how i even got to episode 11
edit: i also hate madoka, ano hana, eva, etc. so take that as you will

that's why I can't stop posting here
While kill la kill was airing everyone here was super hyped about it acting like it was the best thing ever and then afterwards people were like "meh it was OK"
i stand by my 10/10 rating and it is definitely better than gurren lagann

you still have objectively worse taste

You standing by a 10/10 is nothing noteworthy, and it is objectively, factually and universally worse than TTGL. You should take a look into the "Book of Facts" before making false claims.

Why is it 10/10 for you?
As someone who just started watching anime, I'd rate it something around like 6/7 out of 10.
Reasons are that the story later on makes no sense, there was a filler episode when there really didn't need to be a filler episode, and that the animation quality seems to vary a lot.
ratings are evil
don't do it
i stand by my 10/10 rating and it is definitely better than gurren lagann
this is so unironically wrong that I can't even muster up an intelligent response to it
Didn't TTGL have like fourty million times the budget of KLK too?

I was never super hype for it, only sorta hype for a bit, it in no way is better than gurren lagann, it looks worse, it sounds worse, the pacing is worse, the story is the bad kind of nonsense and not the good kind of nonsense.
It has better animation, better characters, better character designs, better colors, better story, better music
gurren lagann would've been almost as good as kill la kill if it didn't have the mecha stuff
whenever the animation was "lower quality" it was done in a humorous way that actually made the show better rather than being negative thing at all
and unlike gurren lagann, the KLK filler episode was really funny and nice-looking unlike the ttgl one which was just kinda ugly in comparison to the other episodes
the kill la kill filler episode was the best episode
The only time I was honestly hyped for KLK was when the trailer came out,

Then once the show started airing, it was just one very long, continuous, quiet, "oh".

what is objectively worse about kill la kill
the lower budget actually made the show better because they used the limitations and turned them into great things

probably because you have a nostalgia boner for gurren lagann while kill la kill is objectively better
It has better animation
no
better characters
I bet you can't guess what I'm gonna say here: no
better story
very no

better music
Absolutely false. Libera Me From Hell shits on the entire Kill la Kill soundtrack easily. And that's just one track.
gurren lagann would've been almost as good as kill la kill if it didn't have the mecha stuff
"I don't like mecha so all of it sucks"
whenever the animation was "lower quality" it was done in a humorous way that actually made the show better rather than being negative thing at all
"episode 4 is exactly how all of the lower quality animation in gurren lagann was done"
and unlike gurren lagann, the KLK filler episode was really funny and nice-looking unlike the ttgl one which was just kinda ugly in comparison to the other episodes
"the episode that introduces the black siblings is in fact a filler episode"
just stop you are wrong in every way

"no" is a fine response for "better x"
is this normal to have drama in this thread?
It's the bread and butter of the thread. Who ever loses gets banned.
So i've been watching quite a few movies for the past week cause I gave up on trying to watch non airing shows while watching so much airing shit. Here's some super short reviews that nobody will care about!
Patema inverted 8/10 - Really good. Was like a 7/10 until the ending, it was pretty genius.
Garden of words 6/10 - 10/10 animations, 4-5/10 story.
Sword of the stranger 7/10 - Fantastic animations and music but I didn't care much about the story and characters.
Time of eve 9/10 - My hopes for this one were really high and it more than made up for it. Super interesting.
Tamako love story 7/10 - Really cute and certainly better than the show, not much else to say about it really.
Anohana movie 8/10 - Surprised how much new scenes and dialogue there was, great for a compilation movie of sorts.
Saint young men 8/10 - Jesus is cute as hell
Tekkon Kinkreet 7/10 - My hopes for this one might have been a bit too high, the art and animations were fantastic but the rest was mostly just weird, not as weird as mind game tho thankfully.
Giovanni's island 8/10 - I knew nothing about this movie before I watched. Really good and it even made me cry a bit.
Colorful 9/10 - Nobody on my mal friends list watched this which is a real shame, it was pretty amazing. Probably my favorite out of the ones I watched this week. If the synopsis sounds interesting to you then do watch it.

The animation is far, far worse. you can't even argue this objectivity TTGL has better animation, you might say "but it's intentional in KLK" but intentionally being bad is still being bad.
Character designs is debatable, but I can easily remember every character design in TTGL instantly, the only designs i can remember off the top of my head in KLK are Ryuuko and Satsuki's. not to mention that the majority of the character designs in KLK look exactly like characters from TTGL
Better colors you say? I too enjoyed call of duty: kill la kill edition now featuring red, and more red, and some extra red. KLK's colors are washed out 90% of the time where as the color in TTGL is all vary vibrant while still sticking to a general theme.
Guggen Lagaan tells a very simple story in the straight forward way, a story neatly cut into two halves each with a beginning, middle, and climactic ending. meanwhile, Kill La Kill tells a disjointed, fragmented story with several plot threads that go nowhere or are resolved extremely quickly, there are no clear arcs as everything blends together in this mess of story that's trying to act far more complex then it is. the pacing is quite off, after three episodes it goes into literal filler with no bearing on the rest of the story (ttgl episode 4 is not filler and carries a lasting impact on the story), meanders around, wastes time, and then rushes to the ending because it wasted too much time.
having listened to both the kill la kill and gurren lagann soundtrack on their own, while there are standout tracks in both i feel that ttgl's ost has a far more balanced setlist. most of the songs on ttgl's ost are great, where only a few are on klk's.
lastly, your comment about mecha reveals more than you probably intended, showing that your bias against mecha is likely your sole reason for thinking ttgl is worse is that it has mecha. Please tell me if this assumption is wrong and as always these are my opinions (ps your opinions are wrong.)

To add to this, TTGL has a clear knowledge of when to change the palette. The washed out colours, something that is 90% of KLK, are used in TTGL solely in scenes where it makes sense: underground caverns and dark areas. TTGL's palette evolves according to the setting, whereas KLK has approximately two modes: washed out call of kill, and obnoxious rainbow colours
