Reading the Yahari LNs and I'm actually learning some more hefty words than I would taking college level classes. Moral of the story: school sucks smart kids read LNs.
To add to this, TTGL has a clear knowledge of when to change the palette. The washed out colours, something that is 90% of KLK, are used in TTGL solely in scenes where it makes sense: underground caverns and dark areas. TTGL's palette evolves according to the setting, whereas KLK has approximately two modes: washed out call of kill, and obnoxious rainbow colours
aka kill la kill has a distinctive palette that it sticks to while ttgl is just standard for the setting
and the colors in kill la kill are never washed out, i don't get where you get that from. Most of it used highly saturated colors in contrast to a lot of dark colors which really makes thing pop
kill la kill is like nichijou where it's timelessly fantastic while ttgl is like haruhi where it's "ehh kinda good for it's time"
totally going to make a video explaining why kill la kill is an objectively better show, export it to webm and post it in this thread
kill la kill is like nichijou where it's timelessly fantastic while ttgl is like haruhi where it's "ehh kinda good for it's time"
this is the worst analogy i have ever heard in my life
The animation is far, far worse. you can't even argue this objectivity TTGL has better animation, you might say "but it's intentional in KLK" but intentionally being bad is still being bad.
Except it isn't. The simpler animation in Kill la Kill is perfectly executed with great comedic timing, to the point where it isn't bad or worse in any way, just in a different style. In fact, it's better. Just like a fun indie film might be a better and more memorable experience than a generic blockbuster.
is this normal to have drama in this thread?
You call this drama? Oh boy, you know nothing.
hey guys hey guys
you know that people have different opinions right? that doesnt mean your opinion is suddenly wrong or right! as long it makes sense its okay to like things and not to like things.
also as with everything opinion based, nothing can be really objectively better.

It is bad, it's objectively bad, all the comedic animation is keyframes that are motion-tweened.
There is nothing wrong with it, but it's bad animation.

Opposing opinions confronting each other.

Since when is comedic simplicity objectively bad
It's cheap animation but still good, well-timed animation
A really choppy animation with really good poses and no inbetweens at all can still be a good animation if it uses that to its advantage
Since when is comedic simplicity objectively bad
It's cheap animation but still good, well-timed animation
It's not even that well-timed animation, a lot of it is just the characters moving around in comedic fashions because lol funny.
The "well-timed" parts are just as effectively replicated with actual animation. It's done all the time with actual animation, when characters freeze up or they quickly switch into 3-4 frame loops, they make a silly expression, etc. The keyframing is completely unnecessary and is just an easy way out to get cheap laughs.
It works, it works well, but it's not good animation, they could get the same comedic effect with actual effort put into it.
Since when is comedic simplicity objectively bad

because even the serious animation scenes do it? or are you telling me KLK is never meant or trying to be taken seriously?

"kill la kill's animation is objectively better because it's not objectively bad"
aka kill la kill has a distinctive palette that it sticks to while ttgl is just standard for the setting
lmao
TTGL has a distinctive palette that obeys the conventions of colour theory, lighting, exposure, and any and every other important visual modifier to a given colour scheme
and the colors in kill la kill are never washed out, i don't get where you get that from. Most of it used highly saturated colors in contrast to a lot of dark colors which really makes thing pop
maybe you need to get your eyes checked out, because if we take out all instances of transformation scenes we're left with a very simple and discernable colour palette:
black, white, grey, brown, sandy brown, sandy grey, satsuki blue, ryuuko red, ryuuko dark blue, washed out everything else ever
kill la kill is like nichijou where it's timelessly fantastic while ttgl is like haruhi where it's "ehh kinda good for it's time"
objectively wrong, I could rewatch TTGL right now and I'd marathon the whole show and the movies in one sitting
if I rewatched KLK I'd get through about three episodes and stop
totally going to make a video explaining why kill la kill is an objectively better show, export it to webm and post it in this thread
go 4 it
it'll be completely wrong though
It's not even that well-timed animation, a lot of it is just the characters moving around in comedic fashions because lol funny.

Except if they were done with standard animation those moments wouldn't have been as memorable at all
Look at how fantastic this scene is, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlRyb2wQ1BY
if this was animated in a normal, generic way it wouldn't be as funny at all
"kill la kill's animation is objectively better because it's not objectively bad"
kill la kill's animation is objectively better because it's cheap animation done exceptionally well
Except if they were done with standard animation those moments wouldn't have been as memorable at all

It could be more fun with proper animation. Nobody said anything about animating it in a generic way. Proper animation =/= animating things in a boring way.
It would be even more fun if it was funny to begin with.
kill la kill's animation is objectively better because it's cheap animation done exceptionally well
so cheap animation done well is objectively better than good animation done well
kill la kill's animation is objectively better because it's cheap animation done exceptionally well
I would take South Park over Kill la Kill any day.
And everything (with effort, not those flash animation shows) beats South Park.
It has better animation, better characters, better character designs, better colors, better story, better music
gurren lagann would've been almost as good as kill la kill if it didn't have the mecha stuff
whenever the animation was "lower quality" it was done in a humorous way that actually made the show better rather than being negative thing at all. The only reason that Ryuko and Mako actually made it to the school was via a literal Deus ex Machina. I would argue that the Fight Club episode was a better episode.
and unlike gurren lagann, the KLK filler episode was really funny and nice-looking unlike the ttgl one which was just kinda ugly in comparison to the other episodes
the kill la kill filler episode was the best episode
honestly, the filler episode's gag with the entire nosebleeding thing was the best part of it. The last 10 minutes were utterly boring and the baddie survived but never turned up again. The only reason that Ryuko and Mako made it to school on time was via a literal Deus Ex Machina.

Wow, I was just about to warn Eric about the spoilers.

any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Gonna check out that "Colorful" movie. Thanks Ninny.
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Hellsing Ultimate. I really can't think of anything else remotely good that features vampires as a serious plot element.
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
rosario+vampire
I'm kidding don't watch that.
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Oh of course. Totally forgot Hellsing.
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
does jojo's bizarre adventure count
Sorry if I'm reviving an argument but did I see someone say that KLK is better than Gurren Lagann? In all my years of weabdom, nothing has surpassed Gurren Lagann.
On a semi-related note, I read a post somewhere today that said TTGL is bad because it makes no sense that Team Gurren won and because the show doesn't follow its own rules.
In a show whose catchphrase is "kick reason to the curb and do the impossible".
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Vampire Hunter D movies
and the books
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Eh gankatsuou sort of counts and its critically acclaimed.
I kinda wanna watch it but I already read the book. On that note did anybody read the count of monte cristo first and then watch gankatsuou at a later date?
If yes was it worth it.
Btw thanks ninny although next time I'll try to complement you without getting banned.
Also I am a baka. But eh you guys probly figured that out already.
I don' think there are.

People liked Shiki for some reason.
Some of the worst shit I've ever seen. Had a good variety in hair styles though, they were ridiculous and made of metal.
any recommendations for a good vampire anime series ?
Hellsing Ultimate is the only good serious show that deals with vampires.
But if you prefer some romance, shojou and/or comedy on the side:
Vampire Knight
Karin
Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase
