At a glance it sounds incredibly unappealing to me.
Probably doesn't help that I have absolutely no sense of humor. For some reason 90% of the shit that is hilarious to others does absolutely nothing to me even if I understand the gag.

Gintama supposedly takes over 24 episodes to actually get good.
Those first 20+ episodes are generally disliked and considered not very funny.
It's supposed to be hilarious from that point on though.

Yes
like dgg said the first 20-25 eps are incredibly boring but after that the pace picks up and it becomes hilarious
the lowest I gave a season was a 8 and that's mainly cause of how Sunrise handled doing it
the latest season has been picking up to pace again

really? i thought the frist 4 were quite slow, but it picked up after that, and on rewatching them, the first eps arent even that bad

second is 51
the "third" is 13 episodes

Watched Patema. I really enjoy wonky universes like this. The closer to the end it got the better the movie became. Gets a 8.5 from me (have to rate 9 on MAL though), enjoyed it more than Colorful. It wasn't perfect, there were some things that could have been done better and explained more, but overall it was a satisfying ride.
I don't want to spark the rating argument again but Orkel just made me realise how much I would appreciate having a . 5 to put onto MAL ratings.

Gintama is really good, if you want to understand the importance of the arcs you need to watch the first 20 episodes; otherwise you won't get a lot of the importance.

Watched a few more episodes of it and it's still fun. I love the world it takes place in, and especially love the characters in it.
Aligura's VA has an interesting speaking style. I love how she talks, but at the same time her fucking voice grates on my ears.
