Dammit Re-Kan, I did not sign up for these feels. Also I picked up Girl Friends' manga and another yuri by the same mangaka called Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry Blossom Pink. The title couldn't be more gay if they tried. I'm debating if I should pick up another of her works, Gakuen Polizi. I also got all of D-Frag and Food Wars, as well as the Log Horizon LN and manga vol 1, NGNL LN vol 1, DanMachi manga vol 1, and all of K-On. I've spent nearly $400 at this con, it may go up to $500 tomorrow, and it's all been on food and manga. I think I have a problem.
Well at least you didn't spend it on plastic butts yet
I tried, but nobody had the Mugi or Azu-nyan 5th anniversary figures I was looking for. Also there was no fanart, or official art for that matter, of So Ra No Wo To. Not that I'm surprised, but I'm still a little disappointed.

But I also heard you can find some gems in there, sometimes. Not that I'll ever know since fuck driving 5 hours south to be in the same general area as a few hundred other sweaty smelly nerds.
stop getting suckered into hella marked up shit
Just checked Amazon. I shouldn't've done that. It's not that it's hella marked up, they're charging US list price on the back of the manga, which is cheaper than Canadian by like $3, it's actually cheaper than it should be at a normal retail store, it's that Amazon seems to always have them on sale. I keep forgetting this fact. It's also the convenience of the con. I go there looking for one thing and think, "Hey, I was wanting to get this too, might as well." and ended up buying like 20 manga volumes when I meant to get 5. For some reason I never do that on Amazon. Also there was one place that was selling swords and knives that had a telescoping baton. I was going to buy it, but they sold out before I could.
seriously, look stuff up on mfc or whatever before you buy stuff at cons most of the figs i saw at sakuracon were about 2x as expensive as online
The only figs I was looking for I already had a max price I was going to pay. Nobody had them. I don't tend to impulse-buy figs or massive pieces of artwork, my problem is impulse-buying anime and manga. This year it's all been manga, since I recognize that the anime is overpriced as shit (I paid $60 for Upotte last year, it's as high as $85 now, and there's shit that's $70 that is $50 on Amazon) but the allure of "US list price" made me forget that Amazon is still cheaper. I shan't make this mistake again. Also I bought Command and Conquer for the N64, and learned that my collection of Gameboy/GBA/GBC games and my collection of N64 games are both worth a decent bit based on the prices of games there. There was also a booth selling purely hentai. They had the Sono Hanabira games, among others, including a K-On Doujin game. I was astounded that any of it was legal here, as I though it'd classify as child porn. The fact that the seller had no fixed storefront made me believe they shared these concerns, but voicing them is bad for business.
I always check prices online before buying anything at a con (except for stuff at the artist alley ofc)
a buddy and i went to a comic book store today naturally, they had Warhammer figures, and corresponding acrylic paint i don't know much about paint but i found three colors that i need to finish my Unit-02 model kit and her accessories, and they match almost identically to the kit's reference guide. but man were there a lot of young disillusioned slightly-unhygienic white males
Also I bought Command and Conquer for the N64,
That sounds terrifyingly unpleasant to play.
That sounds terrifyingly unpleasant to play.
Uh no? I play Red Alert on PS1 and it's great. Speaking of PS I bought myself a PS2 today and got Persona 4 along with it, that's anime right? [editline]24th May 2015[/editline] Also if there's anyone with experience- can I play jap games on my australian console?
i dont believe ps2 games are region locked? i remember my cousin had bootleg disks with stuff like prince of tennis on it

Any money gone into a vacation is as good as spent, and if he has leftover money then cool he has extra money. If he spends it on useless shit at the con and a lot of food then oh well, he already planned to not have that money. It's only really bad if you're buying stuff you know you don't have money for.

I know cause I have a Japanese PS2 and I have trauma from being a kid and not being able to read moonrunes
most likely most anime that we watched as kids are average as best or not very good i remember watching beyblades and medabots a year ago and they were pretty meh
don't forget Monster Rancher and Ronin Warriors
most likely most anime that we watched as kids are average as best or not very good
Cardcaptor Sakura was good.
don't forget Monster Rancher and Ronin Warriors
I forgot Gundam Wing and Rurouni Kenshin
I mostly watched tenchi muyo and inuyasha and sailor moon growing up and I still like those shows. shows targeted at kids rarely hold up, it's not something exclusive to anime
most likely most anime that we watched as kids are average as best or not very good i remember watching beyblades and medabots a year ago and they were pretty meh
I need to read Shaman King someday, I've heard the anime was censored to hell and back. (well of course, 4kids)
Unlimited Blade Works: [sp]Oh no, it looks like UBW is suffering from Dragon Ball Z syndrome. Is the script basically a word-for-word adaptation from the Visual Novel? Because as much as I like the fight animations from ufotable, mirror matches are the least engaging so I'd rather the fight was over sooner rather than later. Also, Shirou simply isn't an interesting fighter to watch. "I'm gonna charge directly at you. Oh no, that didn't work...but if I charge directly at you *again* then maybe...dammit, I didn't work but maybe if I try charging directly at you just like before..."[/sp]

Tough luck I suppose. Haven't actually seen 20 yet so can't comment on how accurate the dialogue is yet.[/sp]
