Legend of the Galatic Heroes is nice but its such a big thing to watch so I've only watched 2 episodes in like 10 days.
But I agree about the huge amount of content being there for someone who 'just' started watching anime though.
Its tough to get in to at the beginning as its a show that takes a bit before it gets steam.
But when it does hooo boy. Probably my no1 anime.
Problem for me is that I've only recently (within the last year) started consuming anime/manga. So I have an incredible amount of content at my disposal.
If only I still had that dilemma. These days I have already watched quite a bit of the top tier animes. So I have to go to more niche directions to find the other really good ones.
I quite liked tatami galaxy but oh man I really didn't end up liking Shigurui. I knew it was gonna have a slow pace but GOD DAMN it was slow. Complement that with nothing going on and them not featuring THE FINAL FIGHT THAT THE ENTIRE STORY IS SUPPOSED TO BUILD UP TO and I was pretty pissed when I finished watching. I entered expecting hanachirasu like combat but I didn't exactly get what I wanted. Nana was also a dissapoint for me. It was rated a 10 on the nihon review but I would personally rate it a 7 or so. The characters were believable but they were also often complete idiots so I had a hard time sympathizing with them.
Shinsekai yori was alright but I wouldn't personally put it in my top tier list. Its good but there is too much competition.
"Suzuki made and followed his own training regimen to gain 30 kilograms (over 60 pounds) of weight to portray the role of the two-meter-tall (6.5-meter-tall), estimated 120-kilogram (260-pound) Takeo Gōda."
Whoa

Also must suck only having black/brown haired people to cast.

It's generally bad, although there are some good ones I hear.

The Yuru Yuri live action still sears into my brain whenever I think about it.

In the same way that dubs are always terrible.
There's gotta be some exception, right?
Because I'm actually curious and if there is actually a good live adaptation out there I would like to watch it.

The Blue Blazes/Aoi Honoo tv series is top-tier, go watch that.
I vaguely remember the pheonix wright movie being somewhat okayish? Although I fell asleep during the ending.

Pick your poison.
Also dubs are always terrible? Cowboy bebop. Nothing more needs to be said.

That's why I said there's gotta be some exception.
Everyone says that all dubs are terrible knowing full well there are four or five that this doesn't apply too

also when a live action movie tries to emulate anime tropes: (although the movie didn't take itself to seriously)

I have literally never heard a GOOD anime dub yet. I've heard some good voices, but not a whole good cast.
Baccano is the best I've heard, being mediocre.

Your expectations must be higher than the heavens if you think that Baccano, which has only one bad voice on the main in-the-OP cast and decent to good performances by most other characters, is mediocre at best. Eve's dub VA's performance always got on my nerves.
If you had good enough taste to watch The Big O, one of few dubs considered to be on equal ground with the subs, you'd probably be insane enough to call that bad.

I expect proper voice acting. The kind of voice acting you can find in movies, and well, from actors.
The Big O looks like a snore fest from what I've seen of it.

You say that like movies actually have perfect voice acting.
I like watching certain Japanese AND English voice actors do their thing. This mostly comes to mind (3:59 for lols)

But this is still the definite winner.

I'm not talking about anime movies.
I'm not talking about anime movies.
Neither am I.
Just finished watching all of the Kara no kyoukai movies, watched the 2 specials and that extra movie too.
5 was my favorite for sure followed shortly by 7.

And how much of The Big O have you seen?
Also, The Big O's ridiculously cheap OP is the best.

I hate it when the names for episodes are either too long or they have different ones for different parts in the episode like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Daily_Lives_of_High_School_Boys_episodes
Trying to name them is impossible.

I never remember episode names anyway. Nichibros has a clear naming system though but I guess they kinda sound the same?

Oh oops I read the second part of your post wrong, but I meant the skits themselves have an easy-to-remember system :v:
