Shokugeki no soma is turning out to be super fun for me. I dunno about anyone else, but the fact it has gratuitous food porn makes me wanna jump up and cook something.

SHIT TASTE CONFESSION : I've never seen a 'psychological horror' that worked in... What are they supposed to do? Unnerve you? Make you think about how scary something might be? I just haven't seen a good example that works with anime.

Like the Serial Experiments of Lain or the Shinsekai Yories.

The best psychological horror manga / anime are the ones that are unsettling rather than "scary". On that note, I am legally obligated to inform you that Shinsekai Yori is a great show and that you should watch it.

Ya see the problem here is that the anime that I found the most 'unsettling' was school days. It provided me dread and existential doubt. Is it therefor the best?
perhaps you will find this closer to your apparent visage of the psychological horror that is higurashi no naku koro ni, dgg? [t]http://i.imgur.com/gZNaOti.jpg[/t] srs tho the current one is hardly representative of higurashi as a whole (it's literally just rena looking through a partially opened door while looking a bit angry - this is cliche as shit, not to mention could be for literally any reason - the image used in mine conveys an ominous aura that's far more in line with how higurashi actually plays out, especially where rena is involved), doesn't use the original logo for the original show, and has the logo cut off for explainable but unacceptable reasons, making it look cliche and shoddy psychological horror doesn't have to be "oh my god this woman is trying to break the door down to kill the shit out of me", in fact the ominous death stare is far more psychological because you have no idea just how much she's lost it and what she's actually thinking, what she's going to do, why she's doing that, etc etc
she looks sad and gloomy, there is no death stare. The red tones could just as well be romantic
she looks sad and gloomy, there is no death stare. The red tones could just as well be romantic
perhaps the full image (this, by the way, is the official cover art of the ps2 port of the original VN) will help you understand what a death glare is and how that red is very much nothing romantic [t]http://i.imgur.com/S2KeOkh.jpg[/t] well, unless you find a girl very likely about to hack you or someone else in half romantic I guess??
dgg if you can find a single romantic image where the entire sky is fucking blood red maybe you'd have a point.
perhaps the full image (this, by the way, is the official cover art of the ps2 port of the original VN) will help you understand what a death glare is and how that red is very much nothing romantic [t]http://i.imgur.com/S2KeOkh.jpg[/t] well, unless you find a girl very likely about to hack you or someone else in half romantic I guess??
Outside of context I'd say she does look sad and gloomy. But going by the full image, well, she still does look a bit gloomy, but like, murderous gloomy? Unless the average person didn't look at the full coverart before they'd probably think she was just sad and gloomy.
I'm not really seeing any kind of sad in that expression at all, it's an ominous blank gaze gloomy it definitely is though, yes, the kind of gloom people about to kill people tend to display
Both the current image and taggart's look good. Personally I'd just stick with the current one because it looks better, quality wise.
Despite the terrible character designs in the JoJo OVA ,Dio's World was pretty fucking stellar. I haven't watched this week's episode yet but I hope it holds up
So DanMachi just blitzed through all of Volume 4 in a single episode. We're now travelling into untranslated territory, as it goes for a complete adaptation of what's out of the main story.

Still not feeling an ounce of threat from her. [editline]30th May 2015[/editline]
dgg if you can find a single romantic image where the entire sky is fucking blood red maybe you'd have a point.
it's rose red with pretty flowers and a moon, it's pretty damn romantic. it becomes unromantic because the character is wielding a sword. Without the sword it looks like a sad story, maybe a breakup.
that's not a sword it's a machete dgg. [editline]29th May 2015[/editline] I also said your point would hold if you could find a similar image that can be proven to be romantic, since you have no evidence I can only assume that you are indeed wrong. these are not romantic colors, they're horror colors.
Now it's a sad gloomy person with a sword in her hand. Still not feeling an ounce of threat from her.
What if I told you she believes that global warming is fake, and that she's studying law in her spare time so she can become a politician?
Nisekoi today was great. The Mahou Shoujo Onodera thing in the first bit was a hilarious parody, and then in the second bit we have Onodera, Onodera, Onodera (all different people), and Ichijou making Japanese sweets.

A reviewer recommend SHIKI as a good murder mystery. However is it a murder mystery in the sense that you can actually solve the murders by using logic. Or does a wizard show up at the end and say "howdy time for a supernatural explanation to everything!" In a similiar vein how good are the fights/tactics in BASILISK?
It wasn't that kind of mistake. We all voted it into that category. Which was considered a mistake afterwards. But i don't think it's that much of a problem.
no I made a post during that time saying how inevitable it would be for it to end up in that category since it was flavor of the season and had something akin to games in it and that everyone should think twice before voting for it. Alas it was in vain.
In a similiar vein how good are the fights/tactics in BASILISK?
I'm eleven episodes in. It's not a spoiler to say that loads of people die since that's the entire plot, it's just a matter of how and when. But here's the thing: there's only been two or three actual fights, and none of them ended with either of them dying, besides one fight with some unnamed red shirts irrelevant to the plot. Every single death has been via surprise attack, sucker-punching them when they let their guard down, backstabbing, or the like. No actual fights. [editline]30th May 2015[/editline] Pretty much everybody has some sort of ability that would make for a cool fight but most of the time it's just a case of one of them fucking up or being taken by surprise.
