If you felt even mildly entertained by S1, make sure to watch S2, it cranks up the crazy to levels previously unexperienced by humans. S3 doesn't exist though, don't even think about even considering the fact S3 exists. Alternate universe also does not exist, it is not a thing, it is not real. TD is sort of okay, I guess.

Really wish I could have liked ping pong more(watched it once drunk, then once sober), but it came off as super predictable, cliche as all get out, and the animation was that of 80's MTV cartoon shows. I understand people like it but damn, it really was one of the most unoriginal animes of 2014.

The only thing I didn't like was [sp]Peco playing with a leg injury against Dragon, after not training for a while except for briefly before the tournament, winning and not getting any complications from the leg injury.
They could have also made it more logical if Dragon knew his girlfriend left him and he was not focused on the game anymore, or if something happened to his leg, or if he lost.
It's hard for me to accept that everything went right for him.[/sp]

I don't think that has much to do with it since you can pretty much guess how it will end in the first few episodes since I just got the "Rocky" vibe from it. I won't say if you like it then your tastes are bad or whatever, but to me it just came off really bland. I mean, it wasn't BAD but it really wasn't that outstandingly good.
I'll admit I don't have as deep([I]good[/I]​) as tastes as most of FA, I just watch anime on Saturdays drinking with friends 80% of the time. However, Ping Pong just really wasn't that great just really predictable and no characters were likable/made you think.

1. Yutaka was the praised champ by the "robot" for the first bit, and there was little to no reason to care about this praise until a bunch of episodes in, way more than it should have been. You can basically tell by this whole "Man this dude who is a loser is so great!" cliche will come back if you ever have seen Rocky or Die Hard.
2. Yutaka just is only shown running up and down stairs a few times but can now win a tournament??? This makes no sense, little to no ping pong or reflex training was actually shown.
3. MC tries to kill himself and is miraculously saved because people knew exactly where he was and when and also know CPR and how to deep sea dive???? I still find myself scratching my head at this episode because there is much plot convenience for this episode. I get if if you are something like Cross Ange or Code Geass where shit is just off the wall all the time, but not in a SoL anime at least try to be like Barakamon.

Then again, it's fine if you like the show and enjoy the fuck out of it if you do, I just didn't really think it was all that good.

I liked the artstyle and most of the jokes were good the first time they do them.
I might do s2 eventually but I have a lot of stuff to power through.

there are no other shows that look like ping pong, especially not from the 80s
ping pong uses a lot of vector graphics and other techniques that you can only do with digital animation
