Finishing off Shirobako right now. What a good show and I'm really feeling it,probably because I'm really sleepy right now though
I almost let it go after the first episode.. didn't seem to be my thing. Then I was bored and picked it back up and was so glad I did. The struggle of doing what you want as a job and trying to get through the rough days are so relevant to anyone working, I think, and the friendship ties make it all the better. The part with the older animator near the end of season 1 really had me feelin some type of way. I love when a surprise like this comes and I watch it not because it's cute and brainless but because it captures things I feel and the story digs deep into the struggle of everyday people like me. Will I ever do what I want as a job? Will I be good enough to pursue this as a career? Will my highschool dreams with the friends come true? Will I still be relevant 10 or 20 years from now? Will people appreciate my art and the work I put into it? Will the peers respect me? They're all so uncomfortable to think about, but the show digs into those questions so well that it revs you up to succeed.
I liked Shirobako because even if it was exaggerated, it was interesting to see a look into the lives of the staff at an animation studio.
I don't think their animation is that high quality as it first seems at all. They're just good at hiding it. Their animation is good, but nowhere as good as it first seems.
I'll never quite get the concept of "no your animation isn't good, it just looks good, it's fake good animation"
I just watched Berserk: Egg of the king and I like it more than the TV series.

So I'm on EP4 of Haruhi, and had to actually pause the video and compose myself when [sp]Nagato got speared with a bunch of shit, pulls one out, and it suddenly became a desk.[/sp] I immediately went for the vodka because I have come to the conclusion that I'm too sober for this shit. Time to down the shot and continue this madness. But I suppose, as the lyric goes, "Bouken, desho, desho?!"
But I suppose, as the lyric goes, "Bouken, desho, desho?!"
Never quote Japanese lyrics in your posts ever again, please.

Jesus christ man.
Wait a minute, you mentioned having watched over 100 shows and Haruhi wasn't part of them? Let alone the first few of them? Jesus christ man.
spoiler alert just because it's popular and well known doesn't mean that somebody will actually want to watch it or get around to watching it [editline]7th April 2015[/editline] What logic even is that Yeah, it had a higher chance, but there's no guarantee and you're acting like this is completely out left field.
Wait a minute, you mentioned having watched over 100 shows and Haruhi wasn't part of them? Let alone the first few of them? Jesus christ man.
Are you also the kind that goes "you deserve to be spoiled because you had a decade to watch it" ? Because I've watched 130+ titles and still haven't watched Eva, or Hellsing, or Death Note, and several other 'must watch' shows [editline]7th April 2015[/editline] damnit reds
Pretty much the only reason why I've watched a bunch of the more popular shows like Eva and Haruhi is for anime night. If anything extreme popularity can push somebody away from a show, that's what happened with me and Eva.
Are you the kind that goes "you deserve to be spoiled because you had a decade to watch it" ? I'm considering the person in question here, who seems to like moeshit and Kyoani stuff so to me it seems weird that he hasn't watched it yet, that's the "jesus christ" part. It's also just like, my opinion.
Don't oversell your reaction then. You can't have this wild reaction then go "well i was mildly surprised" afterwards.
what wheres the spoiler
I added the word "also" and now it should make more sense
I dunno about you guys but I'm still trying to franticly put as big as a dent into my backlog as i possibly can before jumping into the new season.
I did try it, in like 2009. It made me think anime was ridiculous and I stopped watching it. I'm giving it another shot and as it turns out I was right about it in 2009, it is fucking ridiculous. The thing is I'm used to that now. I'm also watching it in the chronological order, not the airing order, so it makes a bit more sense. I'm also not watching it in hacked-up 10-minute segments on youtube like I tried last time. Also I haven't watched EVA, Death Note, FMA, Hellsing, TTGL, or Code Geass, nor do I have any particular desire to. [editline]6th April 2015[/editline]
Never quote Japanese lyrics in your posts ever again, please.
Well it is an adventure, innit? It was also the OP to this shit, so I thought it'd be fitting.
I'll never quite get the concept of "no your animation isn't good, it just looks good, it's fake good animation"
But he's right though, the way ufotable presents their animations really makes it look better than they actually are.
I'm too lazy to watch all the shows on my backlog. I still have a bunch of 'em from last season sitting around unfinished, and instead of finishing those, I started on Nichijou. Yes, sir, I have great animu priority management skills. [editline]7th April 2015[/editline] I did watch Haruhi though. It's been so long I can't even remember if I like it or not. I should rewatch it. And the movie, too.
I dunno about you guys but I'm still trying to franticly put as big as a dent into my backlog as i possibly can before jumping into the new season.
Be like me and just give up and finish shows when you feel like. I've somehow managed to make a dent in my backlog despite constantly starting up shows and putting them on-hold
But he's right though, the way ufotable presents their animations really makes it look better than they actually are.
Ok so they make it so that it looks better than it actually looks with the result of it looking good when it doesn't actually look as good as it does but when you look at it it looks as good as it does ??????????????????? [editline]7th April 2015[/editline] how can gradients be real when our keyframes aren't real
Ok so they make it so that it looks better than it actually looks with the result of it looking good when it doesn't actually look good but when you look at it it looks good ???????????????????
I'm sorry since when did dgg and I said that the animation don't actually look good?
I'm sorry since when did dgg and I said that the animation don't actually look good?
where did i say that you said it doesn't actually look good other than in my pre-revised post
He said it looks good but thanks to their fancy gradients or whatever it makes the animations look more "high quality". Of course ufotable has some high quality animated scenes but even their regular stuff look more impressive thanks to their techniques [editline]7th April 2015[/editline]
where did i say that you said it doesn't actually look good other than in my pre-revised post
well damn I misread so whatever
Well yeah, that's how gradients and filters and shaders and various digital effects work, you slap them on and if you don't apply them poorly it looks better than the raw keyframes unless you prefer your animu to have no digital effects. I'm not really sure how that's a point of discussion other than "ufotable is good with digital effects". [editline]7th April 2015[/editline] I mean yeah, no shit they wouldn't look as good if they didn't have them.

From what I can interpret from dgg's post,he finds that the animations as in just the keyframes and movement don't really look as impressive as what people say since in his eyes it's the effects that is doing most of the work of making it look good.
