No, I watched it all the way through and agree you should really just watch start to finish. However, not all people want to sit through 275 episodes of episodic comedy, some people really like arcs. Personally I don't mind either way but some of the episodes in Gintama can be really bleh.

The fun part of watching XXXholic is the fact that the animators have absolutely no idea how to handle the extreme noodliness of the characters and so their limbs wildly fluctuate in length depending on the scene.
