people that recognize that wikipedia isn't that reliable for the nitty gritty
My assumption was more than right though, they already have offers that they can take from other companies, and they will take them if they can't continue getting it crowdfunded. (which sounds completely unreliable, who the fuck would continue shelling out money 24 times over for one show? And why?)
dw digg it's ok to be wrong
Wrong or right has nothing to do with it? You were asking for source when I was clearly just speculating.
Also to be sure we are on the same page here: the part where "I read up on it" was me referring to the wiki, the part where I was talking about them making a deal was me speculating.

they want to use crowdfunding because they get to keep their creative freedom. Also their ideal format is a feature length movie/trilogy. It doesn't say they've secured any deals with any companies for funding, only that it's a back up option.

First question.

Managed to change my address to my friend's address since I'm moving in time to still get slotted in with the first shipments of LWA2
You know even if we get UtD or whatnot and it looks amazing, it's a 25 minute OVA. It's not going to do much and it's not going to be so exceptional. I don't even know what the appeal is of UtD... MAYBE if it was 12 episodes it could be more interesting thing to check out, or even 24 then it could have some really interesting things going on, but 25 minute OVA's usually are either just fine or just suck. It's not even that they suck for the most part, it's that they are too short to do anything of interest.
I mean if we just get MD Geist then fine whatever, I'm down for something stupid like that (Riku Sanjo is a genius BTW).
Just look at all those Shounen Ai 1 episode OVA's like Vassalord that look great and are pretty decent, but amount to nothing and are usually forgotten. I mean look, most of you probably don't even know of Vassalord and nor should you.
I feel like for UtD to be something of interest to me and to many others it needs to be more than a single OVA. It should be at the very least movie length or half a cour (6 episodes or so) and even then it's questionable how good or even worthwhile it would be.
Or I don't know, maybe this 25 minute OVA will be fucking perfect. I hope it is.
Length isn't a determining factor in quality, it's what they do with it. It could be a very dense 25 minutes. Plus it sounds like they plan on continuing it.
I'd use Space Dandy's Planet Limbo episode since that's one of my favourite things of all time but I guess other people wouldn't hold it to that degree.

Yes, but Space Dandy up to that point has/had time to establish itself which is the important factor here. Like I'm pretty sure Space Dandy exists in the Bebop universe. While that may or may not be relevant it still gives some an impression or an idea of what the world is like.
Space Dandy isn't a fair example since unless that Space Dandy episode is completely unrelated to Space Dandy you can't really compare the two. UtD will need to do so many things that a lot of shows can do in longer periods. It's not even part of an established franchise so it can't ride the coattails of that. So if UtD is terrible, there's a chance it will never see any more of the light of day. That's why so much is on the line with this 1 OVA, but I don't think it will be more then some sort of a tech demo. Like a demo of a game that you're trying to sell people on. If people like it they will buy, but if they don't everything on the line will sink. This is their one chance at getting a gold medal or else everything else could potentially be coming down.
Granted if they have offers, I'm less worried, but at that point if it is terrible I don't think I would care about UtD.
Honestly I still say one of the best 25 min ovas I've seen is Oji-san no Lamp, and the worst being Mars of Destruction
It's amazing how popular Hestia is getting,
It's only 2 episodes but DanMachi seems like it could of been a good light hearted anime but instead it's trying to be dramatic but it's just annoying how in episode 2 [sp]Hestia has the enchanted sword right on her back and she never gives it to Bell even though his one breaks. We all know he's going to get the sword sooner or later but the anime is treating us like idiots.[/sp]

"Y-yes?"
I swaer she's smiling hard enough to power all the magic stone lamps in Orario... She's also hiding something behind her back. What could that be? Well, I'll just have to wait. She's really drawing this out.
"The truth is..."
I wait for her to continue, but she just stops.
She looks around the fair, taking in the sights and sounds. But I don't think she's really here, in the real world. Now she's staring up at the sky. What is going on in her head?
"...Hmm. We're already here I'll tell you later!"[/sp]
[sp]pretty much 'cause drama and dragging it out is ther entire reason[/sp]

Death Billiards proves 25 minutes is enough to tell a compelling story.

Oji San Lamp, Death Billiards. Those are 2 examples in a see of shit. Like this is worse than that 90% of everything is terrible rule, 1 episode OVA's is a market where I'd say 99.5% of everything is bad-just OK.
Harmonie
Little Witch Academia
Death Billiards
Ojii-san no Lamp
Shiranpuri
Wasurenagumo
Arve Rezzle
Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko
Candy☆Boy
Attraction
Buta
Puka Puka Juju
Kick-Heart
Those are all great examples of how good just a single short story can be.
Oh man that was a great arc to start out gintama with, this season is looking good.

That is the 0.5 percent. For every one of those someone can name you 5-10 that are terrible. And I don't know, I feel like it's a worse margin overall than just TV anime.
And look, I'm not saying that everything is bad and I'm not hoping that UtD is bad, I'm just trying to look at things from a more devils advocate standpoint, because trust me I would love it just as much as you would if UtD is the second coming of whatever, but there's a high chance it's going to be just a whatever action title. There's a good chance considering the history of the medium that UtD is going to be just OK.

hestia isn't even worth looking up on gelbooru, i saw some pics and it's like the most generic shit ever
at least kancolle had a few interesting designs but hestia is like the definition of shit taste tbh
Kancolle is pretty great.

I would say the margin is much higher on one-offs than TV series.
There are waaaay many more tv shows than there are one-offs.

I guess, but what I'm trying to say is that the best one offs aren't even as good as the best shows/longer things, while some of the worst one offs are possibly worse then some of the shows out there.

oh and I don't care the slightest about Under The Dog, I looked at the kickstarter way back then and thought it looked stupid.

Speaking of, what was the point of that scene, it came out of nowhere, the was fucked up, but not that much.

It's a "fuck you" to asuka/shinji shippers and the fandom and everyone. Basically the whole movie is.

I care about it to the extent of "if it's good, great. If it isn't, well I don't give a shit".
Anyone here cosplay? Looking for some good male cosplay for summer conventions that aren't overly done.
