It didn't work the first two times I tried it, but a few months ago it just worked suddenly. It's pretty iffy
When it's not working it's usually because the site went down or because they changed something on the site which breaks the updater. If the latter happens an update usually gets pushed fairly quickly which fixes it.

Ratings are fun to discuss, I don't worry about them. I think it's weird however when people don't use the full scale, because it becomes impossible to understand how good they thought it was relative to everything else.

I guess principles are rules of sort. But the way I see it, a rule is something you should follow whether you like it or not, it's decided as the correct way of doing something. A principle is something you've chosen to stand for on your own, right or wrong isn't part of it, and can be ignored if you want, you just generally need a good reason for yourself to do so.
The reason I don't like to drop things is because there is always value in watching something, even if you don't like it. You might discover good music you otherwise wouldn't (Umi Monogatari - Shima Uta), the art style and/or animation might have some unique moments, maybe some of the scenes are composed really fucking interestingly, maybe the story brings up something later on that you want to see explored better in a different show.
Even when a show fails to bring anything of interest, that in itself is a valuable experience, you learn more about what you dislike, and more importantly, why you dislike it.
I'll disrespect anyone that manages to succeed at failing.
everything ufotable has put out in the past few years has been excellent (although all type-moon related) so I am definitely excited for any new project.
