Have you ever seen those side-by-side references oh shots from kyoani animes and the real life locations? They're always heavily photo referenced but fully painted from scratch. A bit of CG as well.
What is the point of painting something from reference if the end result looks like a filtered photo or trace? Never understood that.
I dunno if you accuse of them of saying it's a photo when it's not sounds like a compliment to me
I dunno if you accuse of them of saying it's a photo when it's not sounds like a compliment to me
Sounds like a waste of time to me. If it looks like a photo, use the photo.
Sounds like a waste of time to me.
Sounds like a waste of time to me. If it looks like a photo, use the photo.
My guess is probably them just trying to maintain the anime industry equivalent of e-peen
What is the point of painting something from reference if the end result looks like a filtered photo or trace? The Anime versions of locations are always much cleaner, with nicer colors and just generally nicer looking And putting drawn characters on a photo background always looks pretty jarring and cheap, too. With close-to-photorealistic slightly stylized paintings they fit in nicely.
Finished Nanatsu no Taizai. Man, some well-animated shounen fights is exactly what I needed right now. Really great show there. Now I continue the hunt for good action shows that have more than one fight every five episodes, and then have that fight be five seconds long.

They don't fit in nicely, because it looks like a photo. In that image the blur makes it look even worse as well, just gradually blurring the entire thing, ruining all depth.
I don't have any of your fancy side by side shots of Kyoani backgrounds and reference photos, but I think you'd find that if you used an actual photo or a filtered and edited photo it'd clash horribly and wouldn't look half as good. [editline]6th May 2015[/editline] Well, the Digimon PV told us nothing about the plot, but at least we're confirmed for goggles. also it's not out until fucking late November

You can make it look however you want, and they go for a photorealistic style that makes it look like a photo, defeating the purpose of painting it in the first place.
Nah dgg, you're wrong. [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] I wonder why Euphonium is selling so fucking terribly.
I wonder why Euphonium is selling so fucking terribly.
Hopefully because people are sick of KyoAni's shit and want to see a show which isn't k-on tooting on horns and abusing depth blur
But i thought Euphonium is actually pretty good? For once i'm simply enjoying everything about it.
Hopefully because people are sick of KyoAni's shit and want to see a show which isn't k-on tooting on horns and abusing depth blur
Well I guess we can't all take the time out of our day to watch it before shitting on it.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-05-06/digimon-adventure-tri-is-6-part-theatrical-anime-with-new-cast/.87876 Digimon tri will be a 6-part film series lol
Well I guess we can't all take the time out of our day to watch it before shitting on it.
Nah I have actually watched the first episode, a friend convinced me to start it so I am. Going through it between Akagi eps, it is quite not bad. Seriously though, it's bad sales are quite possibly because it is, on the surface, the same basic formula as most recent KyoAni shows. [editline]6th May 2015[/editline] You can only give a man so much moe, after all. Eventually he will snap back.
You can only give a man so much moe, after all. Eventually he will snap back.
This sounds a lot like a Steven King book if he ran out of ideas. Like seriously, the otaku has this shit scrawled in blood on the walls of his basement layer, with a scattering of dismembered figmas littering the floor. Smeared soot all over the eyes and faces of his dakimuras and has an alter with tengas serving as the candle holders, a heap of h-manga in the center. where the fuck am i
[editline]6th May 2015[/editline] You can only give a man so much moe, after all. Eventually he will snap back.
This industry is built on a foundation of moe, if that starts to crumble we're all fucked. [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] alternatively anime is saved [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] but is a world without moe worth living in [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] the answer is very yes
Nonsense, they'll just find something else to rope money out of lifeless urchins, and usher in a new dark age for everything anime as what is left of the Moe Brigade fights against the ever amassing Forces of Change.
My point is that it doesn't look good now either. You can make it look however you want, and they go for a photorealistic style that makes it look like a photo, defeating the purpose of painting it in the first place.
Nah, it's beautiful
This industry is built on a foundation of moe, if that starts to crumble we're all fucked.
foundation of moe and toys
That one euphonium girl has nice hair
I wonder what they'll do for the plot now. I know Bahamut is in the name but I'll be happy if they don't rehash plot elements. I hope they don't cop out and [sp]undo the death of the finale.[/sp]
I loved the first season. But this new announcement left a strange taste on my mouth, I'm really skeptic about this new season quality. Hope I'm wrong.
I hope yamada-kun gets a second season, it's a great adaption.
I loved the first season. But this new announcement left a strange taste on my mouth, I'm really skeptic about this new season quality. Hope I'm wrong.
If this ends up being a medieval bountry hunting western like the first few episodes in the 1st season, then I will be a very, very happy man. A prequel season detailing the life of bounty hunter Favaro and Kaisar after their fathers' deaths up until the events of the first season would be awesome.
I wonder why Euphonium is selling so fucking terribly.
It's because anime fans have shit taste. "I love watching my high school girls do nothing but faff about at school! So where's the really self-conscious girl that ends up flashing her panties all the time? And where's the one that's retarded? Like, literally retarded" "Um...there isn't one and there isn't one. Our characters kinda behave like real people might" "Well then, fuck your show"

the point is that euphonium is actually really good so far and I'm not big on KyoAni at all
If they just behave like normal people, then what's the fucking point?
I know right? Who even wants to watch subtler coming-of-age slice-of-life shows?
