Nijigahara Holograph was great, though a bit confusing. I got most of it and the main symbolism, but I definitely need to reread it sometime.
I think all of Asano's work prior to Oyasumi Punpun (out of the ones I read, being this one, Solanin and Subarashii Sekai) were sort of test runs that he borrowed elements from when he made Punpun.
Definitely plan to read all of his work, although in my opinion Punpun is his magnum opus and I doubt anything will surpass it.

my avatar(s) are better than yours
So I stumbled upon Ergo Proxy. Damn this is an old anime.
I'm on episode 8 but why is (not plot details)[sp]plot so slow and vague, does stuff actually start to happen like in Steins;Gate after all introductions? Because so far it was chasing everywhere, foreshadowing and pseudo-intelectual talks[/sp]
(plot details)[sp]I mean,
Lil Meyer is the daughter of sybil system incarnate - she's not like other people. Further supported by healing factor
Vincent Law is not like your usual immigrant - probably an autorave/multiple personalities/immortal human from mosque
proxies are god-like entities, but somehow we managed to drug one to sleep, but then it somewhy escaped and went to e-virus some robots
Also did Vincent Law pulped that one proxy where Lil found and showed it to Daedalus?[/sp]
My avatar is pretty anime right guys?
I'm really surprised how much i'm looking forward to the next Shokugeki no Soma episode. It's really fucking exciting. So glad it got 24 episodes.
I finished my first anime, Kill la Kill (which was really fucking good), and decided to start on Gurren Lagann. Enjoying it so far.
Honestly, being so late to the party with this sort of thing is kinda cool cause I can experience this all for the first time

Dude, it aired in 2006.
[editline]13th May 2015[/editline]
Even if the relentless march of time disagrees with me, my definition of "old" anime is rooted in the nineties. If it's not on cel then it doesn't feel old to me.
What makes it feel so old to you?

It only gets more weird and confusing honestly.
also 2006 isn't that old, come back when you're watching 100+ episode anime from the 80s.

Even though I know what happens every time I watch TTGL I get super hype anyways.

I go back and watch the ending every once in a while, just to see it again. Seriously, 10/10.

it's all downhill from there
I wish someone would have told me that Durarara was so good sooner.

From my experience (I only watched it once even though I liked it), it's generally vague throughout. The back story is explained later, particularly with the existence of the proxies and the domes (I think what they were called domes).
I personally like things not being fully explained straight out. It makes things quite a bit more mysterious than it would be otherwise.
As for the plot details you mentioned above: it'll be explained.
I don't know where the e-virus came from. I think it's just AI reaching a new-found sentience, which is infectious through sight, which made them aggressive to humans as slaves to masters.
I wrote out a giant spoiler thing explaining a good portion of everything but I decided to keep it out so it won't spoil too much.

It's okay.
It would've been great if I didn't have a pet peeve with one of the songs.
Once I hear the one theme with the piano with the little whistles, I know something boring about to happen and when the prediction is correct, it makes the scene ten times more boring than otherwise without the song.
Even worst, that one theme is used way too often through out and it grinds my gears.
It's good when I watched it but that little pet peeve made the entire thing unrewatchable for me.

It's good, but it's a complete waste of potential. It does not live up to the first episode at all, it just throws it into the dirt and steps all over it.
