Why does EA insist on using battlelog and punkbuster for their games

both can be incredible pains in the asses at various times, the first sometimes throws a fuss about your browser, and the other sometimes just kicks you until you do some annoying stuff to get it to work. VAC just works in the background, I don't have to go to google to find out why VAC isn't working for every valve game I play.

Also battlefield related, I find it funny when servers ban swearing to have a "family friendly atmosphere", when your character and the radio people swear like sailors. They're essentially like "SHIT THEY JUST CAPTURED CHARLIE FUCK"

I feel really disconnected from everything, like nothing matters. I think I told this to someone earlier, that I'm not giving myself space to get emotionally attached to something because as soon as I do, I'm over-emotional and start crying and worrying.

There's a chance I won't get accepted in the mental health care system because the minister associated to it has tightened the requirements someone fulfills to apply for it, basically creating a gap that a lot of people fall into, so if there's a screw loose but not enough that you can't function in society, you're fucked

my dad won't lend me 12 quid to do my driving theory test, if i don't book it now i will have to wait about 10 weeks to even book it, then another 20 odd for the practical. i have been working 6 days a week for about 4 or 5 weeks now and the reason i can't pay it back is because i bought the car and had to insure it.

not saying i'm jealous of the guys who get things paid for them, but it makes me so fucked off when they're unappreciative of it.

probably doesn't help either that i'm starting a new job next month and the only way besides getting up at 4am to catch several buses is to drive there, but i won't be able to until the yearly fucking contract is over and i no longer have the job anyway!

Battlelog is the fucking worst. I literally cannot play any game that uses it. It doesn't matter what browser I use, it simply refuses to launch the game (Battlefield 3, to be specific).

I tried every fix and tweak I found online that was supposed to help and none of them did. The game would partially start, hang on a black screen, and force me to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to kill the process. I technically got in game once, but it crashed after the loading screen.

Fuck Battlelog.

Fucking hell these last few weeks. With my dad and my depression.
On one of my worst weeks, when my depression decided to take a turn for total lethargy and anhedonia. The day after I had tempted suicide; I get to hear from him: "No wonder that you're so miserable when all you do is sit around in that corner".
Which left such a crap feeling that I could not be bothered to contact anyone I was supposed to, due to fearing that I'd just be burdening them.
Then monday, a few days later after a weekend in which I had to promise the mental health workers that I wouldn't kill myself. I finally get my diagnosis, yay. And when sitting outside for a smoke; my dad sneaks up on me and gives me that "Just try to be happy, stop being sad"-crap. :angry:

One would imagine that at least after that Monday when I told him that I got diagnosed with depression; that he'd read up on it online. I mean it's really not hard to come by information like "phrases that metaphorically kick a depressed person in the guts".

I got to hear a rant (accentuated with an angry frown) about if I really do hate my family when I don't want to spend time together and prefer being alone (I couldn't even muster a reply as all of my efforts went into trying not to break down into tears).

Like yesterday when he complained about that when my friend and I borrowed one of our cars for going to an airsoft game and the cars tank was as empty as it was when we borrowed it (we fueled it correspondingly to how much we used) and also ranting ensued because there were a few straws of grass in the cars tailgate (which I couldn't really clean up at night with rain pouring).

For big places even, going in person is a good way to make a lasting first impression. Makes it a bit more personal, but that's just my experience.
