Honestly people can get over it. If the media has been out for more than a year you've had plenty of time to watch it. Spoiling an episode of Breaking Bad three days after it comes out: Scum Spoiling an episode of LOST from 10 years ago: Deal with it. I remember people actually got mad that someone spoiled this minor plot point from a 20 year old anime in a thread before. It's been two decades if you haven't watched it yet you aren't going to watch it at all, get over yourself. I'm not making my post look like a classified CIA document every time I want to talk about any form of show or game. Do people still get mad at Snape kills Dumbledore????
Woah, hey now. A year? Really? That's way too short of a time frame. If you're talking about translated stuff like anime, people who wait for dubs rather than watching subs sometimes have to wait for over a year. I just did a quick search and there's one popular series from 2013 that hasn't even gotten a dub yet. Sure, "lol dubs", but that doesn't mean people deserve to be spoiled. Hell, if you're talking about anime films, even sub-watchers have to wait a long time compared to people who are bilingual. Really, whether it's okay to spoil something depends on a variety of factors. How old it is, how good it is, how major the spoilers are, how well known the spoilers are. That last one really only counts for stuff truly ingrained in pop culture, like Sandman said on the last page. Is it old but really good? Best not to spoil it, unless if we're talking really old. From several years back and okay? Don't spoil it. New but no one gives a shit? Go ahead. Stuff from the goddamn premise of the show? How is this an issue, unless if they try really hard to hide it in the show? Major thing in the second episode? Shut the fuck up.
In regards to FilmSlacker's post: You guys don't owe your step-dad anything. Seriously. The fact that he claims it means that instead of rotting in the 9th Circle of Hell, he'll have to go to super double Hell.

You can't honestly expect people to go "OH GEE I WAS LATE GUESS IT'S OKAY FOR YOU TO TELL ME THAT [sp]IT GETS REVEALED THAT THERE'S A THIRD BROTHER[/sp] AT THE END OF MGS1!" Besides it takes 2 seconds out of your life to spoiler tag shit and doesn't affect you apart from that.
There is no justification for spoiling shit. The only things I feel can basically be shared freely are for those movies that are so inherent to modern culture that everyone knows them by heart anyway (Luke, I am ____), but even that I kind of find a little shaky. The only other one I can think of is when something is so atrociously dog shit like Ride to Hell Retribution that nobody really cares. Say I haven't seen Terminator 2, and someone spoils the fact that the [SP]T-800 dies at the end[/SP], and justifies it by saying well I should have seen it by now, it's been 24 years, as is the most common excuse. Guess what? I was born in 1996, 5 years after it came out, and I've spent the rest of those 24 years growing up and only a few years ago did I reach a point where I'm old enough, interested enough (now in the demographic of the movie itself and aware of these old movies), and have the means to (Netflix and shit). Sure it's been out for 24 years but only a fraction of those have I actually been reasonably able to watch it, same as every other 80's and 90's movie ever. Or Fight Club's another good example. Was I supposed to watch it when I was a baby? Same shit leading up to now, when I can watch it, but my enthusiasm is killed because I already know the twists and ending because people have been spouting that shit without warning for years now, because it's my fault that I wasn't an adult in 1999 able and ready to watch it. I guess people born after this generation can go fuck themselves, they don't get our movies. Even with video games, take something like GTA V. Sure, it came out 2 years ago, but I didn't have money to buy it 2 years ago, or a system that can run it, and I still fuckin' don't. It has not been marked down in price two years later, and doesn't seem to be heading that way any time in the forseeable future. Or, shit, maybe I didn't have an interest in GTA until this year, or maybe I just got in to games, or maybe a million different other reasons that prevented me from playing it until now. There's so much shit you can't predict happening that the only reasonable thing to do is take the 5 fucking seconds it takes to spoiler tag something, or throw up a spoiler warning, or whatever. I'm aware that there's apparently studies that say that spoilers 'increase enjoyment of media', but I and several others don't agree with that or find it personally true for ourselves. [editline]e[/editline] And for those guys that try to handwave it by going "Spoiling because fuck you (immediate spoiler)". no, fuck you. You inconsiderate, lazy, selfish asshole. Eat a dick.
Vader is Lucs father

It literally takes two seconds to type in the sp tags, just fucking do it like jesus christ it's not fucking hard it's absolute pure laziness to not spoiler tag
When people get in my face I get fucking pissed. If you want to get in my face and act like you want to fight then expect me to throw the first blow. People underestimate me because I am skinny, but I am 6'4 and have been biking and running to school and work every weekday for the past 8 years. I will fucking kick you in half if you fuck with me. This and I have repeatedly been [sp](by the court of law)[/sp] coerced into anger management classes and such a couple of times, starting from when I was 11 and spent 10 days in the Seattle Childrens Hostpital after trying to kill my moms boyfriend by choking him with a sweater. [sp]and several times after that[/sp] Nowadays I have a good control of myself, for the most part. I did recently get into a fistfight with my younger brother, who is 20.
i didn't read harry potter as a kid so "snape kills dumbledore" being usdd as an example spoiler everywhere actually spoiled it for me guess what? i'm not pissed about it because i get that it was a popular thing
i dont know about anyone else but i dont take video games and movies seriously enough to get upset if it gets spoiled. like yeah i get it, its better to find out in the moment, but if i have it spoiled, i literally dont care. oh well, its still fun to play/watch.
It literally takes two seconds to type in the sp tags, just fucking do it like jesus christ it's not fucking hard it's absolute pure laziness to not spoiler tag
it's not that i'm lazy, it's that it's a stupid thing to get mad over and if you're browsing a subreddit for a show the day after a new episode aired you had it coming to me it really seems like something people get mad over because they think it's acceptable to get mad over guess what a black box or little button does to a curious person? nothing i'd really rather see where things begin, know how they end, and then discover the dots between and how they connect -- the journey is the reward
Spoiler tags are always a courteous and important thing to remember when spoiling anything. [editline]dearp[/editline] but admittedly, not necessary.

There's no reason to not spoiler tag stuff, like there really isn't. And you want to know what else is a reward? Being surprised by a twist or an act; you can connect the dots and see everything in a different light your 2nd and 3rd times through something - but your first should never be ruined. That's great that you don't care, but spoiler alert, you're not the only one in the world so it's much easier to just be considerate and spoiler tag shit. like, i don't get why people are against it, like it's just a thing to do so people who do mind don't get shit spoiled.
why are people so protective of their ~first reactions~ you talk about me acting i'm the only person in the world? sandman seriously expects people to spoiler tag popular movies FROM THE 90s
If someone had spoiled the twist for The Usual Suspects for me I'd be pretty pissed; that twist was great and honestly if I had known beforehand I wouldn't have been able to play a mental game and see if I could figure it out. That's why people are "so protective" because it's fun trying to figure shit out and then you go and ruin it for someone because you couldn't dare to fucking put a spoiler tag because it doesn't ruin it for you. And yeah, the 90's were only 20 years ago not everyone watches a lot of movies; hell I don't, and it would have sucked having all of the older movies I've watched recently be spoiled for me. The Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, stuff like that.
hey guys jurassic park 1 spoiler [sp]there's a weird jeff goldblum laugh[/sp] (User was banned for this post ("shitposting" - Orkel))
ah so now you've resorted to shitposting gj
God damn I don't like drinking, crowds, and bullshitting to strangers. Why can't people understand this?
I keep getting shit for not drinking. I can safely say I don't like olives, but the moment I say I don't like alcohol, people look at me like I'm a murderer. Of course, it largely depends on what kind of crowd I'm talking to. Though in my experience, people that don't give you shit for not drinking are way harder to come by as you age.
Jesus God in Heaven, ok, lesson learned about weight loss; Watch the FUCK OUT when it comes to fast food. I've had fast food like three times since I started losing weight a few weeks ago now, once being today. Now obviously I'm not going out of my way to get it, it's usually only when it's my only choice or by circumstance, and obviously it's horrible for you. But no, I didn't quite get the ramifications until now. So my calorie budget for the day is 1680 calories to lose weight at about 1.5 pounds a week, a little more than that since I usually try to stay under my budget limit. All we have to eat here is shit for you so a meal is about 600-800 each, requiring I do something to burn some calories pretty much all the time if I want to eat comfortably. But then I have some fast food, and you talk about, a jalapeno burger with some onion rings as a side, and a soda, like I had a bit ago? That doesn't sound like THE worst thing ever, does it? Surely some exercise will make up for that slight breakaway? You just ate a fucking heaping helping of 1550 calories. Want a few burritos from Taco Bell, maybe a taco? 740-1,110 calories for the burritos alone. I'm going to be looking at the menus for these fast food places a lot more carefully from now on, because god DAMN. That little excursion costed me the entirety of weight loss for today because I didn't know just how bad this shit is for you, and like, nothing I can do at this point is going to end with me in the green again by the end of the day, I guarantee you that. In fact, I'll be gaining weight no matter what I do. At least at worst it's 1 pound a week of gained weight should every day be like this which they certainly aren't, so the effect shouldn't be HORRIBLE.
it's not that i'm lazy, it's that it's a stupid thing to get mad over and if you're browsing a subreddit for a show the day after a new episode aired you had it coming
And I guess you also have it coming if you happen to be on the internet at all at any given time for the next two months if you miss a game or movie or some shit release and can't go play/watch it?
to me it really seems like something people get mad over because they think it's acceptable to get mad over
Because it totally fucking is?
guess what a black box or little button does to a curious person? nothing
That's the problem of people who don't give a shit about it. As someone with self control, they often stop me.
i'd really rather see where things begin, know how they end, and then discover the dots between and how they connect -- the journey is the reward
I guess you're the only person in the world and have the only opinion on media then huh [editline]25th July 2015[/editline]
hey guys jurassic park 1 spoiler [sp]there's a weird jeff goldblum laugh[/sp]
Hey guy spoiler about your post [sp]it's a strawman and we're talking about actual spoilers and not dumb shit like that[/sp]
God forbid you actually have a sense of fucking decency when it comes to preserving the story of media Sand Castle do you like, not understand that pretty much every form of media made for mature adults is going to have twists and plot elements that are intended to be a surprise? By spoiling a game/movie/tv show/book/whatever you are purposefully damaging someone's enjoyment of the media because the spoiler was intended to be a surprise in some way How hard is it to get it into your head that things are meant to be kept secret in stories sometimes, and telling everyone about it is a fucking dick move and totally not ok? People want what the writers intended to be surprises to remain surprises. It's not an overreaction to be upset when someone tells you a favorite character, or any character at all died, or some major character betrayed his side, because the people who wrote the story intended it to stay a secret until you had experienced the media up to that point. It is a purposeful shock to the viewer and just shrugging and saying "lel stop overreacting nerd" is just fucking rude on several levels. Stop shitposting, stop acting like an asshole, and have some common fucking decency when it comes to other people's experiences. Just because you don't care doesn't mean you have the right to spoil it and act like a pompous cunt when someone is rightfully mad.
Doesn't necessarily get me angry mad but summer used to be so awesome when I was younger, just that feeling of getting home after the last day of school knowing I've got 2 months of enjoying myself and just general fucking around & loving it. Now it's been replaced with a constant feeling of monotony and if I don't get a job I'll be broke and unable to drive like everyone else indefinitely. Fuck, it even feels like there's less sun than there used to be. I spent all my time looking forward to summer and the beach and parties and I haven't done any of that. Instead I've sat at home on my computer, when it doesn't even make me happy.
Actually, his last post was the shitpost, so I think he decided to leave because he realized other people rightfully thought he was acting like an asshole instead of agreeing with his shitty opinion
nah, i had to do a thing i really have no idea how you guys take this so seriously, like you're talking about "common decency" or calling me an asshole because of people overreacting over shit that doesn't matter -- like you're only proving correct right now the jurassic park post was a joke, and i do tag spoilers -- that doesn't mean i can't think it's dumb i'm not some cartoon supervillain that spends tons of money and time keeping up with all current movies and tv shows, and then spends hours making sock accounts on internet forums posting untagged spoilers

Even if you think spoilers don't matter, other people think they do. [editline]25th July 2015[/editline] Nobody was acting like you're a "cartoon supervillain" spending all your free time and money purposefully spoiling shit, either All we're doing is saying you're acting like a huge jackass disregarding other people's feelings and opinios and doing what is basically just saying "lele deal with it xD" like a self-centered child Your opinions don't supercede others.
what i don't get is that it's easier than ever to watch a tv show or movie a variety of affordable streaming services are available, and if you have the internet you can watch stuff a few days after it airs on hulu if you don't mind watching a few ads got a long commute by bus or train? you can download it off amazon video to your phone and watch it on the way in or out of work
Fucking shit I'm not done having a crisis here As well as what I said before, I'm having second thoughts about university because I don't really know what I want to do and I don't want to spend £9,000~ on a course I won't use in life/enjoy/understand. But then, the idea of finishing college and going straight into IT work for the rest of my life until I die is so severely depressing that I'll pay all that money just to avoid it for a bit. Don't know how I got myself in this middle-class first world problem shit but I hate it. And if I just had my fuckin gf back I wouldn't care about any of it ffs man

[editline]25th July 2015[/editline] I actually timed it on my phone just now, it took me about 3 and a half seconds. If you don't spoiler tag, you either well and truly forgot (in which case you should edit your post as soon as possible), or you're purposefully being an asshole. [editline]25th July 2015[/editline] Also those opportunities existing still doesn't excuse spoiling things, by the way. It's already been well-covered that "you had the chance" doesn't cut it for an excuse
I'm fucking starving boiling hot and I can't go into the living room to eat and be less boiling hot because my mum's boyfriend is sleeping there. FUCK. I'm probably going to go out tomorrow and buy a bunch of mac n cheese to snack on. Either that or a sub. Maybe both.
I guess people born after this generation can go fuck themselves, they don't get our movies.
This quote sums up Sand Castle's attitude when it comes to spoilers.
It's really silly and distracting when you go to watch a video that's just showing you how to do some little trick in a program or something and the uploader has really intense electronic music in the background.
