Immersive games that make you forget about reality

Space Station 13 used to make entire nights disappear from me, but that was before the aspies from Bay12 came along and ruined everything with their no-fun no-robusting serious roleplay bullcrap
Far Cry 3 and Terraria. Like seriously, those are the coolest games to play on an all-nighter, with the lights off, chugging on some soft drink, munching on snacks, with some dim-ass lava lamp on your desk or some shit. Seriously, I always sink hours upon hours in these two games.
Trine duology thanks to its gorgeous environments coupled by an equally good soundtrack.
Fallout: New Vegas
Star Wars Galaxies(emu)
Minecraft
Doom/II
Sins of a Solar Empire and the space stage of Spore seem to suck the time out of you.
Also Recettear. Even if you aren't into japshit, get any PC controller and buy it in steam. It's basically a reverse RPG where you're the item shop owner who buys and sells to adventurers instead of the other way around. I sunk 18 hours into and someone on my contacts has 400+ or some bullshit.
Making virtual profits is great.

Katawa Shoujo
Max Payne series
Minecraft, FTL, CK2, Payday 2, XCOM: EU
GTA IV-V, the cities feel living and breathing especially at night with street lights and skylines. It's fun to just go for a drive around it.
I played Metro: Last Light a few weeks ago and I loved it. The world (ironically) feels alive. Very few missteps as far as I'm concerned. And to top it off, it's a contained experience. I didn't feel like I missed out on any part of the story by not playing Metro 2033. I'd give it an 8.5.
It's a shame to me that we're going to miss out on a lot of games like this in favor of yearly AAA franchises that do little to improve upon previous games in the series.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
You can just go on it and drive for hours without realising.
Chronicles of Riddick - Escape From Butchers Bay.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat
day 54, I been only drinking vodka and have none but bread on table
cost over 1500 rubles for can food i say ебать , що. i shoot i cook beast of a dog then clean rifle using wet cloth
such is life
GTA IV and V
Any of the first 3 Silent Hill games (Mainly 2 though)
Also Thief 2. Only game where I'd spend 4 hours straight on a level and not even remember where the time went.
Persona 3, Ultimate Doom/Doom II

Minecraft used to distract me for whole days
Metro 2033 is great. I love how you use the watch to see how much time is left on your gas mask filter plus the breathing/condensation when you have the mask on.
Me and friends played daylight at 1 am which was super fun, I forgot they were there until a friend screamed at me to scare me :v:

I tried to put agree on your comment but accidentally pressed disagree X3 I can't change it!
Anyway, Metro: 2033 is an amazing game that's very immersive :D I love it
This may sound odd but I'm gonna go with "The Escapists" by Team17
I spent 4 hours playing this game yesterday, on the first level, amassing money, plotting my breakout and shiving cunts in the prison showers. I even went so far as to start making backstories for all of the inmates and what they were in for.
At one point I had free roam of the prisons entire ventilation system and could go anywhere as I please, until one little shitlord guard saw me climbing up into the ceiling in my cell and I was put in solitary for 3 days.
One of my most favourite games ever right now.
STALKER when it actually works
