Over-rated bands in my book...
Metallica
Nirvana
Guns N' Roses
Massively agree with Nirvana, it's decent, but far from spectacular.
AC/DC. I like two of their songs, but the rest is shit.
metallica
None of those bands/artists are overrated. If I had to vote I'd say AC/DC, but even them aren't overrated, their early stuff is great!
AC/DC has been getting away with lyrics that are almost as shitty as some mainstream rap lyrics, and are similar, even though a lot of fans insult rap lyrics. Their songs are insanely easy to play, and I say that having picked up a guitar only 15 times throughout the course of my life. I also don't really like the screechy high-pitched squealing singing style.
Since when does music have to be complex to be good?
The fucking Beatles, they are shit
Ac/dc
I don't think I've once heard anybody talking about Creedence Clearwater Revival in my entire life, in person.
[editline]02:03PM[/editline]
Anyway, the Beatles and Black Sabbath are both incredibly overrated, but they had a big impact on music so it's forgivable. AC/DC are just shitty and boring so I choose them.
I think the Beatles hate here is beginning to be a bandwagon thing rather than an actual music judgement. Facepunch at it's best :v:
CCR = Creedence Clearwater Revival for anyone (like me) who had to google it.
I'd say The Beatle's, or AC/DC
I like the OP. He wanted to make a genuine music discussion thread without relying on bashing Justin Bieber as "competent musical criticism".
I was expecting Justin Bieber or something for this, not bands with actual talent.
AC/DC because kids at my schools for the longest time (and kids today as far as I can tell) all wore those damn shirts you find everywhere at hot topic.
also pink floyd and that prism logo
Daijitsu, I hate to disagree, but that is the exact thing I do with your last statement.
That is, in my opinion, one of the worlds best albums ever made, and I've grown up in a place where the mainstream music was/is generic rap and shit.
All of the artists here are awesome accept for maybe AC/DC (never really thought they where too special to be honest).
If you want overrated you should have put Kiss on that list.
I don't think Pink Floyd in themselves are bad (hardly ever listened to them), but you can't disagree with the fact they've became basically a cornerstone of hipster culture.

In what respect.
In what respect.
Does have a point.
I'm also surprised U2 isn't up there.
But I would say The Beatles for the fact that they are so famous, yet only a few of their songs are good.
You really cant say that bands are overrated decades after they became famous. At the time people thought they were great, and at this time you may think they are shit or something because you're used to listening to modern music. AC/DC, The Beatles, Kiss, etc. were all great in their time, and still are.
All of these bands probably influenced modern bands/artists who we wouldn't have now if they didn't exist, too.
This thread deeply saddens me.
:Dawkins102:
Okay except the beatles are good news. AC/DC is decent but not that good.
Where is U2?
Also, who voted on the beatles are:
A. Kids.
B. Pepole who heard one song and said that this suck.
C. Pepole who never heard any songs, but going with the bandwagon
D.Trolls.
E. Pepole who actually dislike this kind of music

Its just a bandwagon, just ignore it.

Also, this man is smart, you can't really compare Beatles to Black sabbath, they are tottaly different.
[editline]03:24PM[/editline]
By the way, what is CCR?
The Beatles
I mean; What's special? I can't find any special at all about them...
