If you're going to college remember:

I hear a lot of employers care more about your social skills than your actual work skills these days. Knowing Facepunch, this really sucks for a lot of people on here including myself. You can go ahead and get a Master's and still not be able to get a job these days. I still think college is worth it though, especially if you work hard enough in high school to get a scholarship.
Try choosing something that you really, and i mean REALLY enjoy doing and that suits your skills. Please don't try to get a job in the video game industry either. Game companies only accept the best of the best, especially since there are so many 13 year old kids who think that just because they play games means they can make them.
A 2-year degree from a technical school will have a high job market with average pay, and higher degrees from 4-8 year school have more high paying jobs but a smaller job market.
Of course it would really help if we knew your plans for your major/profession.
Also most 4 year colleges are (in my experience) a lot better than high school, whoever told you they are the same must have went to a smaller college
