I start up steam, press the "Tools" tab, load up Source SDK, then continue one of the many unfinished maps of mine.
I don't think I've ever truly been relaxed.

Over the summer, I started practicing meditation techniques used by Zen Buddhist monks. It's never failed me. Alternatively, music or rendering stuff in Paint.NET, the poor man's Photoshop. Either that or contemplating philosophical or scientific topics. There's also running. If all else fails, I have a naturally analytical mind to see the problem and discipline to just let it go. Not unlike the Taoist concept of yielding.

I meditate with some Boards of Canada or similar music.
Basically sit in a chair, close your eyes and focus on your breathing.
I usually put on some classical piano music, for example Beethoven, and just lie on my back and let my mind wander until I either feel rested or fall asleep.
Beer and games sets my mind off most things.
Chill music.
Put on dim lighting, turn on music, and write. All simultaneously. I have terrible handwriting, and a computer with a gui and internet is too distracting. So I got a really crappy old laptop and write in nano.
