One game vs. whole series?
Why not, CS series vs Cod series as Counter-Strike does have the whole old CS ver, source and what not. Are they forgotten?
I don't think my friend knows about the existence of CSS.

Ah, he sounds like the type that thinks Fallout 3 was the first in the series.
Those kinds of people usually aren't very open to new ideas.

get new friends

Friend is saying I'm an idiot for liking CSGO because apparently the gun effects aren't as good as Call of Duty and it's "too complicated".

Is your friend like twelve or something?
Why even make the effort to convince him? If your friend ridicules you for liking a thing as mundane as a certain kind of video game, then seriously fuck him, he's a shit person if he cannot tolerate your preferences, he's a waste of your time.
Thing with cod's multiplayer is that it's heavily focused on it's causal game modes, whereas CS:GO focuses more on it's competitive matchmaking. COD offers a better casual experience than CS:GO.
This is also the guy who thinks that Skyrim is the best game ever made... and he plays it on console.
I find this pretty sad.
Just imagine all the children and the people, playing Skyrim without a single mod installed.. let alone a hundred. Why even live?

Talk about CS, I only play it in the form of Trouble in Terrorist Town.
Much more fun when you don't know who the Terrorists/Enemies are, and when C4 doesn't immediately win the round. :vs:
