I know a couple of hipsters and most of them are nice people, incredibly friendly.
But there's a few who act incredibly superior to everyone else because they're "different." Constantly dissing mainstream music tastes, PC users, people who drink coffee from chain stores. Fuck, I want to punch them all in the face. They make me resent all of the genuinely nice ones as well.
I am from the southern part of the united states, most people where I live are normal and less than 1% are ignorant rednecks. But you know rednecks, they go out of their way to stand out. So to people who learn I am from the south I am a racist, inbred, truck driving, hick of below average intelligence.
Honestly, I dislike the whole "hipster" trend of doing things differently just to be different. I do some things differently because they work for me, but that instantly makes me a hipster to a lot of people I know. It really pisses me off.

You know, being flamboyant can be a good thing. It can be a statement against homophobia. A way to say "I'm not afraid of bigots". Second is the fact that it takes quite a lot of courage to come out in the first place, so publicly showing that one is homosexual/bisexual/transsexual/asexual/whatever is quite risky. And yet they show it publically, like a "Take That!" to bigots.
Thus; I'll have to disagree.

Most of my gay/leabian/bi friends also hate people who over do it. I know a lot of people do it for attention, I know a lot of "bi" girls who over do it because they think its cool.
Sexuality should not be a fad/statement if it is your doing for the wrong reason; by over doing it a lot of people inforce negative stereotypes which makes it harder for LGBT community to be accepted as normal individuals
