Obviously I don't always live up to my ideals.
1) Never be a total failure.
If things go bad and I lose a lot of things, the first thing I do is think what I have right now and what I can do with it, there is no other way.
Complaining won't get my stuff back, qutting won't get my stuff back either. Doing something else might give me another opportunity.
2) Find the right mood to the situation.
Things are to tense? Try to be calm. Things are too calm? Try to be more active. Everyone is a dick? Be chill. Someone tries to intimidate you? Stay confident. I can't pick the situations I end up in, but I can pick the way I react to them.
3)Food is great

Man I try to live by those, but I'd swap "don't panic" for "don't get too stressed out about shit since in the big picture barely anything matters".
Except I feel like a bitter asshole most of the time and sometimes it spills on other people too often.
