popular opinion until recently. They are fine, but I still prefur Pc.
See I hate that too, and it is giving macs and mac users a really bad name.
If you overpay for a "fisherprice my first computer" then you've already given yourself a bad name
lol? No one has ever said that because I'm using a PC I'm poor. I just think the Mac's are overly complicated and wouldn't want to waste the money on it. the iPhone SDK is horrible. Trying to get your iPhone to sync with your apps is crying worthy. Let's see, you need to do about 15 things, before you can sync an app you created with their SDK. And that's AFTER you bought the DEV License.
well I don't have an Iphone, I hate only touch screen phones I can't type on them at all.
well I don't have an Iphone, I hate only touch screen phones I can't type on them at all.
Have you even used an iPhone? They are wonderfully delicious.
If you overpay for a "fisherprice my first computer" then you've already given yourself a bad name
And people like you make PC users look like douche bags. I've come to the realization that you are not going to say anything intelligent or mature in this thread. [editline]01:26AM[/editline]
Have you even used an iPhone?
And people like you make PC users look like douche bags. I've come to the realization that you are not going to say anything intelligent or mature in this thread.
how about: Macs are shoddy pieces of crap for "artists", people with way too much money, people who don't know how to properly operate a computer, and people who just love the overall headache of not being supported.
And people like you make PC users look like douche bags. I've come to the realization that you are not going to say anything intelligent or mature in this thread.
Macs are impractical, overpriced, unsupported, and no better than the average all-in-one PC you can get for a few hundred dollars less WITH a touchscreen. What's your argument against that? Fact is, you wasted a few hundred dollars by making a bad choice, and people have every reason to call you dumb.

I dislike them for being more expensive and do not deliver the same performance I could get with a PC for that money, and their lack of support in many common file types.
Yes I have and they are pretty cool. I just really can't type on only touch screen phones. I always hit the wrong letters and mess up all the time.
Well, with the iPhone, when you are typing, if you hold your finger's down, you can see what letters you are about to type, so when you release, it'll type that.
people who capitalize "mac" opinions are automatically invalid. and ugh, threads like these are stupid. they have there pros and cons, just like PCs.
how about: Macs are shoddy pieces of crap for "artists", people with way too much money, people who don't know how to properly operate a computer, and people who just love the overall headache of not being supported.
That is the same thing as me saying "a PC is a useless piece of crap that you have to buy everything for separately and put together yourself unless you want it to suck, only poor people own them or people who waste their life in there moms basement playing WOW or download so much anime porn their computer crashes and gets the blue screen of death or some shit." Sure you can say all that and maybe somebody who has not really used a PC that much may believe it but it does not make it true. I do not actually believe that by the way.

[edit] and setting up the Dev License is another hell....
oh jesus christ how is it complicated? i've found it just as, maybe even more, easy as interacting with any computer running windows. 15 things? lol i'm an iphone dev. simple: make your app, press the "test" button, choose "device" and you're set. there are also plenty of ways around this without purchasing the dev license. not to mention apple supplies you with a perfectly good simulator.
I don't dislike Mac. I don't even dislike Apple. And Woz is one of the coolest people you'll ever meet. I dislike Steve Jobs. There are some people who just shouldn't be alive, and he is one of them. He's a great businessman, but a terrible person. And on top of that, he doesn't know much about what he's putting together. And tbh I never was a fan of OS X's default visual style, but it's reskinnable, and that matters more than the default look.
because you can't play many good games on macs, plus they are slow as fuck when it comes to internet, which is why we keep it in the garage. plus they usually come with a shitty one button mouse.
I was checking out laptops the other day, and ever since I got my new Asus, ive been comparing it to other laptops currently available. I stumbled upon a mac-book, and to my dismay, its specifications were the same as my other 3 year old laptop. And to top if off, this Mac book cost just as much now as my laptop did 3 years ago. I also have a problem with Mac users saying: "Mac's never have viruses, ever. You should come join us!". Using a minority to escape problems won't last long when one of the goals of the minority is to become a majority.

I looked at PC computers when I went to get a new one (because my other one was butt fucked by viruses from my brother trying to pirate shit) And I decided on a mac over a PC. My argument against that is that I am happier with a Mac so to me It was not a waste.
Because not all of them can run windows. :colbert:
also DRM, Apple loads all their software with terrible DRM restrictions. Fortunately, that's crackable.
I know! Let's make it so you have to download an app for you UDID, then you have to generate a Certificate, then you have to upload it to apple, they then give you a file that you have to drag into xCode, and use some other program with. Then all the shit goes to hell, and your iPhone won't be added, you follow the tutorial, and it just cuts off. Then you need to use google to find your answer, which looks so damn far away. So then you decide that the way we her at apple did it, was just to randomly get drunk and throw stuff together and overprice it.
PCs cost less, and do more. Questions?
Quick reminder because I feel like people forgot already. I am a fan of PC I am not trying to convince you that a Mac is better I am trying to tell you from my experience with one that some of your reasons are not really valid and want to see how many people that hate on Macs hate on them for the right reasons (which there are plenty of)

Is it easy to install applications? If you can't click "next" on InstallShield, it's no harder. Are the apps very good and solid for your money? Yes, but with the money you saved you could have gotten a variety of useful applications from trusted manufacturers and still had money left over, then spent the remaining money on solid peripherals the mac does not come with. If you'd actually take the time to sit down and think about it, it's no different from any PC at all, but with more cons. So what kind of people buy them? Yes, precisely that listed in his post. People who don't think before they buy. If you have a counter-argument: WHAT are the advantages of having a macintosh? WHAT makes it better than a PC, exactly?

I just prefer a PC because I can run .exe's and most programming is done in Windows.
I thought before I purchased my macbook.
But in what ways is it better than a good laptop of the equivalent price tag?
that's not why I'm saying it, I'm saying it cause the one I have is slow as fuck and can't even play spore, even though spore works for both PC and Mac
and..what mac do you have?...

The advantages in a Mac are basically if you like OS X or not (which I do, I personally find it easier) Other small advantages would be certain applications that are Mac only (applications which are incredibly important for my career path) [editline]01:42AM[/editline]
that's not why I'm saying it, I'm saying it cause the one I have is slow as fuck and can't even play spore, even though spore works for both PC and Mac
I play spore on my mac and it runs flawlessly [editline]01:43AM[/editline]
Wow, that just show how much you know.
