(Deleted most of post in quote for space) I did think a long time before I bought. The advantages in a Mac are basically if you like OS X or not (which I do, I personally find it easier) Other small advantages would be certain applications that are Mac only (applications which are incredibly important for my career path)
Ok, so you fall under "Artists" AND people who don't know how to operate a computer
Is there anyone who switched from Windows to Mac because there was something they couldn't do on a Windows machine? Switching to Mac is something people do for the novelty.
Ok, so you fall under "Artists" AND people who don't know how to operate a computer
I understand how to operate a computer.
I understand how to operate a computer.
Then why'd you buy a mac?
Ok, so you fall under "Artists" AND people who don't know how to operate a computer
You say artists as if it is an insult? Yes I am someone who does more with my life than plays games, and yes I do know how to operate a computer, I am doing so right now actually? I do not understand what you are trying to get at here you are just making yourself look like a fool.
Then why'd you buy a mac?
Personal preference. Simply because I said "hey, let's give it a shot" and I've loved it since. This is why first mac, every single computer i've used before ran windows. it's worked nearly flawlessly for me. inb4 "yeah you don't know how to operate a computer". and you people think "mactards" are bad.
I hate idiots who complain that macs are shit. I use a PC and a Mac and they both do me well.
(Deleted most of post in quote for space) I did think a long time before I bought. The advantages in a Mac are basically if you like OS X or not (which I do, I personally find it easier) Other small advantages would be certain applications that are Mac only (applications which are incredibly important for my career path)
Don't get me wrong, I was an avid Mac user. Yes, applications for the Macintosh are very good, but there are better if you look around. They've just laid it out for you neatly. I also find OSX to be very meh. Even if you get that constant sense of constant speed with OSX, the applications are the things that slow down. And they do crash frequently. For an OS on par with Windows and with less support in everything else (Which crashes itself, not the applications, but does less frequently and has better support) I don't see the point of wasting dosh on OSX. To bring in a food analogy, Macs are like one of those Bento boxes while Windows is just cash, free to choose any food from any store. Yes, premade things are good. But with just a little effort, you can get even better.
They look nice. The Interface is nice.

and..what mac do you have?...
All my father told me was it's a G5. other than that I have no clue, I hardly use it because it's slow, and the key board is messed up due to my brother throwing it and breaking the spacebar
You say that I wasted money as If I was not aware of the capabilities of a PC. I looked at PC computers when I went to get a new one (because my other one was butt fucked by viruses from my brother trying to pirate shit) And I decided on a mac over a PC. My argument against that is that I am happier with a Mac so to me It was not a waste.
Did you make this thread just to tell people how their opinion is wrong? Nobody cares if it was a waste for you to buy a Mac or not.
Yes me
So what can your Mac do that a Windows Machine couldn't?

The display adapter didn't work OUT OF THE BOX. I'm not saying that apple assembles it's computers properly, accidents/mistakes happen. But what followed made my lol: He had to take it to the nearest mac store, where they just gave him a new one, because the "geniuses" couldn't fix it. nearest mac store: Reston, Virginia. about 45 minutes away. My pc's graphics card was defective out of the box. I put my old one in and sent in for it to be replaced. Meanwhile, i can still use my old one.

Mac is just my preference. I have used Windows my whole life until a couple of months ago when I got my Mac and I love it. It does also help that I do have a PC in my house still.
If you're using a mac, then NO, you're not using a computer, the computer is doing everything FOR YOU.
what the hell? it's no different then windows. turn on computer, open programs..? oh, unless you mean the reboots you have to do when you bsod..? [*sigh*, i'm probably going to regret that joke. seriously.]
So what can your Mac do that a Windows Machine couldn't?
Make programmers cry due to the complexity and stupidity of the apple programming language (Objective C).
this g5?
yep, that's it
I used to have one and it exploded. Literally. A shard of glass got lodged in my leg.
Make programmers cry due to the complexity and stupidity of the apple programming language (Objective C).
lol, which is why i have every program i'd use on windows on os x.

And just because you don't live closer to an Apple store doesn't make Macs bad, it is just an inconvenient location for you.
yep, that's it
that sort of explains your problems
that sort of explains your problems
really?
I don't hate them. But all the purposes I want in a computer can't be obtained with a MAC.
Make programmers cry due to the complexity and stupidity of the apple programming language (Objective C).
I am not a programmer, If i was I would not have a Mac, that simple.
what the hell? it's no different then windows. turn on computer, open programs..? oh, unless you mean the reboots you have to do when you bsod..? [*sigh*, i'm probably going to regret that joke. seriously.]
Well you have little to no choice for a mac. With a pc, you fix it yourself, and if you don't fix it, you deal with it. If you own a mac, you take it to the apple store where they replace it for you, because even the people whose job it is to fix macs can't fix macs. REAL men use PCs.
lol, which is why i have every program i'd use on windows on os x.
You can run Visual Studio 2008 Professional and Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 on it? Oh, and the XNA SDK. Basically, VB.Net, C#, and C++ (possibly Java).
Read thread
Just read every post. You just gave a few vague hints that your Mac is really cool and can do artist stuff.
I don't hate them. But all the purposes I want in a computer can't be obtained with a MAC.
lemme guess, gaming? because i can do that just fine on my intel graphics macbook ffs, i'm sure you could do it on the newer ones with the sexier graphics cards. i'm a programmer (er, sort of) and i have a mac :v:
No silly they give you a new one because they don't make you wait there while they fix it. It's not the fact that you've got to drive 45 minutes, it's the fact that you can't do ANYthing yourself
