Whenever someone asks "people still play this?" about a multiplayer game that is less than 10 years old, or a previous iteration in the series.
what? people still play tf2????
*Playing FPS games* "A parachute, take it then jump from the cliff" "Is that the antagonist?" "Can you go fishing" "Use the toilet" "Name of the weapon that you equipped?" "What happen next?" Goddamnit, just shut the fuck up and watch it for yourself. I can't concentrate when you keep yapping like a goddamn hungry bird.
Someone i know asks a thousand and one questions during films. It's annoying and all of their questions can be answered just by watching.
Literally anyone who fucking refuses to take off the nostalgia goggles when comparing any older title objectively to new ones. Point and case is my friend who will argue until he's dead that Goldeneye is the best shooter ever created. No it's aged like shit. When comparing older games to new ones, limitations of the medium at the time need to be taken into account for how the game functions and looks. If you don't, you're merely comparing something and outing it for literally just being old.
Shamelessly stolen from the Valve Cut Content Thread: The comments on this (now unfortunately private) video of a demo of HL2: Ep2 for the xbox360 were pure cancer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIE0gH1i35U
Anyone who thinks that simply slapping a HD texture pack, bloom, and some shaders onto something makes it look good. All you did was make the lower poly models stand out even more and how they don't look good with modern graphical effects. Minecraft and Quake has these people. I've seen artstyles designed with low poly models in mind and they've looked fantastic. But i guess that because it wasn't bumpmapped and doesn't have bloom coming off of literally every source of light, that somehow makes it look bad.
In your case yes, but I'd say it depends. IMO it's alright if someone's paid a premium for something they could get for a lot less. Then it's not "lol ur poor" and instead "you made a terrible and ignorant decision". Such as just a couple of weeks ago when my older brother decided to buy himself a new PC without, for whatever reason, telling me first. 30K SEK for a prebuilt (relative to the price) potato with an i7 6700K and a 980Ti. Fortunately I managed to convince him to return it, I then assembled a system for 18K with very similar specs but with a 1080Ti instead. The guy's managed to keep his job as an engineer for almost 10 years and going despite being a complete doofus. One time he threw a totally fine high-end router/switch combo in the recycling because his ISP gave him a ~newNshiny~ combo that I, after having looked at it for 5 seconds, concluded was complete trash in comparison to his previous gear. (Very nice CISCO/Linksys products). He also bought a Google Cardboard about a year ago, but he couldn't figure out how to fold it and instead managed to fuck it up completely, so he threw that in the trash as well. I laughed really hard when he told me about that little incident. How in the fuck can you work as an engineer solving logical puzzles and design pretty damn complicated things all day, and not be able to fold a piece of cardboard that even includes clear instructions
imo that's drastically different and doesn't fall under spec shaming. Correcting someone who is ignorant and preventing them from wasting money/showing them how they can get better parts for less is benefical because it's helping the people involved. You know they have the money to have better specs and if you don't harass them about it, you can genuinely help them save money. Also, I know a few engineers who are very smart with their chosen field but lack basic common sense, it's kinda common in my experience
I wince every time I see/hear someone recommend Morrowind Overhaul.
One of the things that sets me off is Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2. 55 fucking gigs and all of it is trash.

An ex of mine kept going on about how being a gamer is "actually a real-life religion" called 'Gamergasm'
cuz its shit
This opinion belongs in the thread. Thanks.
"Video games are completely useless, they only waste your time" No shit. Because of games,im motivated to study english. Because of historical games like Assassin creed,im inspired to learn history, and now im the top one in history lesson.
People who call anything with perma-death a roguelike.
cuz its shit
Why do you think it's shit?
My parents claimed our computer had viruses because of my Steam games. I just hid the Steam shortcuts from the taskbar and desktop and made it so it wouldn't auto-open when you turn on the computer. I falsely claimed I uninstalled steam and my games, they never complained to me about viruses again. :downs:
Wasn't there a thread some years back about a guy asking why his PC lagged when playing Gmod and not when it played Avatar (The film)? Oh and that Jack Thompson guy from years ago... ...kinda wonder where that guy is now.
Me: Damnit, this PC/game is slow because RAM is too small Pretty much everyone: No,its because you downloaded many thing :speechless:
Or it could be because you have too many mods? :v:
Or it could be because you have too many mods? :v:
I never installed any mod until i beaten the game. If it because mods, then i would change "RAM is too small" into "i installed lot of goddamn mods"
Friend: How much RAM do you have? Me: 8GB, why do you ask? Friend:New Vegas is laggy. Me:What CPU do you have? Friend:IDK Me: Okay, what GPU? Friend: What's a GPU? Me: How do you not know? Friend: I'm using a netbook.

I've tried to get my friend into Half-Life and Fallout but he says he doesn't like "Army Games". Dude what?
I've tried to get my friend into Half-Life and Fallout but he says he doesn't like "Army Games". Dude what?
If its got guns in it, it qualifies as an army game. /s
I've tried to get my friend into Half-Life and Fallout but he says he doesn't like "Army Games". Dude what?
When someone says "I don't like it because [BLANK]" and you ask them why, and they just respond with "Because it's [BLANK]" Thank for not explaining anything.
"It's about ethics in games journalism"
"It's about ethics in games journalism"
Considering that Zoe Quinn was in a relationship with several people who reported on her and someone like Brianna Wu thinks that corporations could use the moon to launch attacks by hurling rocks at the Earth, and people keep associating with them, I'm going to think there is some bad ethics going on.
I know so many people like this and I hate them with a passion. Some times I'll even say "Hey can you explain yourself" and they'll get mad and start asking me to explain why I buy certain things or wake up so early. It never works because I always have an explanation. :saxout: Honestly, considering that these people didn't explain themselves in the first place, I don't think I want a response.
Somethings I'm willing to give a pass on because of personal tastes, but its like some people don't even bother to connect the dots before feeling a certain way.
"It's about ethics in games journalism"
I love how all the conspiracies gamergate unearthed turned out to be totally true. It was kind of messed up. [editline]e[/editline] Does that count as stupid things people have said about games? "Gamers are dead"? "Gamers are sexist"? [editline]e[/editline] "Let's all publish articles insulting our only readers, all at once."
"It's about ethics in games journalism"
Yeah, people who continue to use this as some sort of trump card are pretty stupid. Thanks for pointing it out.
Also thinks Skyrim is the best RPG ever (Fun game but this is a stretch).
I have a friend who wants Bethesda to keep simplifying their games, saying that Fallout 3 was too complex.
