People who outright say DLC/Expansions are a bad thing and refuse to get anything related to it even if it does do the game good. In reality it can be good, there's just a lot of bad examples of it. I feel like those are the types of people who are stuck in the past.
Factorio lead dev :/

Something tells me Fallout 5 won't have dialogue at all, because it would require attention and actual reading.
Speaking of dumb shit people say about video games, whenever anyone brings up PR reps like they have any semblance of influence on game development. The marketing/PR guys like Pete Hines do not make the games. It's literally their job to whiteknight everything the dev team comes up with, how well they're doing their job is irrelevant in light of people literally getting their job wrong altogether. This holds especially true with Pete Hines who's been blamed of personally altering the franchise to fit his needs.

In fact many times I don't. I just sell the product by making cool shit to advertise it. So this is wholly a PR thing, assuming Bethesda works the same way. :vs:

"Hey let's all copy what Activision and Infinity Ward are doing." -pillocks who tried to jump on the Modern Warfare bandwagon and made a slew of crap shooters from 2007 onward. It got to the point where classic/oldschool shooters became few and far between after 2007. And now, they've finally had a resurgence in recent years, so now I can actually see my health bar again. More stuff like DooM, less stuff like Medal of Honor: Warfighter. (pffhahahahaaa)
I'd be happy if i could get a FPS where i could set the land speed record.
A fair number of iD Tech 1 titles had that kind of Olympic runner sprint speed. The original Doom and Strife had that feature, and looking back I reckon it was pretty helpful for instances of backtracking. And speaking of "land-speed records", I reckon that a shooter where you could go at utterly insane speeds, "rolling around at the speed of sound" as the kids call it, would probably benefit from having large open areas like in the Serious Sam games.
When someone spoils something from an old game while you're playing it and tries to justify it by saying 'oh, it's ten years old'. What the fuck does that mean? So at what point do you think that everyone's played the game and should have already known what happens in it? Do you think I'm a fucking magician?
"People love gun skins, it's all the rage!" - 343 Industries
Gun skins saved CS:GO, though.
I love how all the conspiracies gamergate unearthed turned out to be totally true. It was kind of messed up. [editline]e[/editline] Does that count as stupid things people have said about games? "Gamers are dead"? "Gamers are sexist"? [editline]e[/editline] "Let's all publish articles insulting our only readers, all at once."
As someone who kind of missed the whole GamerGate fiasco, could someone give me a three sentence summary?
As someone who kind of missed the whole GamerGate fiasco, could someone give me a three sentence summary?
Zoe Quinn was in relations with multiple people reporting on her game. The gaming press and several developers called gamers misogynists for pointing out how this was ethically unsound. When gamers investigated, it turned out that multiple people in the press, several game developers, and a few others were in cahoots with each other (for various things) and decided to call gamers misogynists and declare them dead to avoid people finding out shady shit they did.
"fallout 3 is way better than that shitty new vegas" then a few years later he starts playing fallout new vegas and says "oh yeah this is my first time playing this and holy shit this is by far the best fallout game" . Another time some guy said to me in class "what you have an nvidia card, dude intel is so much better!"

I didn't mind FO3's gameplay when it came out, and if I need anything else I can simply mod it Sure, DC itself it's a bunch of disconnected maps, linked together through subways. But this makes DC feel like an actual city that got hit by nuclear armageddon. Using the subway system to move around gives a sense of curiosity. If you arrive at a metro station, do you keep following the tracks, or do you go to the surface and see what do you find? Compare it to Vegas, with the Strip being reduced to about four casinos linked by out-of-place gates. And the outskirts of the city are simply...there. There is no feeling of Vegas actually being a city.

There's more to New Vegas than just The Strip, it's not the sole focus and environment of the game. I can turn your argument around and say there is plenty of curiosity as to whats in this big desert wasteland around The Strip and I can explore it without travelling through tedious tunnels every 5 minutes. Fallout 3 is referred to a themepark as a reason. The fact you're exploring post apoc D.C. is the only thing that the game rides on other than it being what it was when it came out in 2008. Nowadays it doesn't hold up whatsoever.

Not everyone got into Deep Space Nine, granted, but despite its flaws it DID have some damn good writing for the most part. So you can probably understand how I draw parallels between New Vegas and DS9.
"The game's control setup is its most terrifying element. The left analog stick moves you forward, back, and strafes right and left, while the right analog stick turns you and can be used to look up and down.
tbf twin stick FPS controls are tough to get used to the first time around
It felt so weird playing a shooter with a controller for the first time when everything I grew up with was ID shooters on DOS and 3d platformers. I wasn't used to the movement at all realizing the camera controlled turning land I could ONLY strafe.
