[QUOTE=mecaguy03;45495156]So what did she say you can do about the bleeding?[/QUOTE]
I can't do anything with it since I have no way of making it sleep/become unconscious. But she said it was a good sign that it'd survived the night. And if it survives the weekend, it will pretty much be safe.

I'm not at home right now, have some business to do in the city. When I return I'll be doing some work on the cage and the food.
Also im pointing this out that the blood actually looked pretty light colored. I think it looks like a lot but it isnt actually that much blood, its just spread around.

Yeah, I was going to point that out too. Those red spots are more pink than anything else, looks like a tiny drop that got spread throughout the tissue. Mice are absolute troopers anyway, as long as he doesn't have any internal damage, I think he should be fine.
OP, make sure he has something hard to chew on so that his teeth don't grow out of control. Also, changing the bedding to something less absorbent for now might be a good idea, gives the blood more chances to clot and for the wound to close.

Ok, so to sum up the words of the veterinary:
"What, just a mouse? Whatever, just kill it. Let the cat take it."
.....
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
Guess I'm on my own then. Well, with the help of you guys.[/QUOTE]
what the fuck kind of vet does that
[QUOTE=Zukriuchen;45495646]what the fuck kind of vet does that[/QUOTE]
One that gets paid too much, I'd imagine.

Any suggestion for a different kind of bedding then?
Some old rags would probably be fine for it if you have any, wash cloths and the like.
Alright. I'll be making a plan, and then I'll do all the things in one step to minimize stress.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
Okay!
I am now going to:
1 - Move the mouse to a temporary location.
2 - Remove all the old bedding.
3 - Replace it with an old piece of cloth. (forgot the english name of it specifically, but you'll see)
4 - Put in a small portion of carrots and assorted nuts.
5 - Put in a piece of wood for it to gnaw on.
6 - Maybe add various other items for it to hide in / interact with.
7 - Tape the webcam so that it doesn't keep falling down when i open the lid.
he's changing the bedding right now if you want to come in the stream and see.
I think it's very important that you give it a place where it can be totally dark, like a fairly large box with a small opening.
Animals in survival instinct mode are more capable of calming down when they feel safe and out of predator view.

I'll see what i can cook up right now.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
Also, i served him a baby carrot and various nuts (unsalted of course)
On a silver platter, even.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
Alright, it has a new canon-branded dark box to hide in.
I made the entrance as small as i think it will handle. I feel that will give it a larger sense of security.
I bedded the inside of the box with a dry tissue.

New and improved interior based on your feedback
Keep the suggestions coming!

I might grind up the nuts for easier consumption

Nah, i think he'll be fine. Rats and mice have very fast growing teeth, and need something tough to gnaw on, otherwise their front teeth might actually grow into their lower jaw. There's a reason rats gnaw and eat their way trough cables and other things.

Still, the little guy might be too tired to do a lot of gnawing. I'd advise grinding some of them, while leaving a couple unground.
I use to have a pet mouse. It was meant to be food for my brother's snake but I kept one as a pet. It then I guess got a skin problem and ended up being snake food anyway. :( RIP Skittles.

He is drinking from the water, and appears to be doing well.
His motions are sluggish though, but that is likely related to his earlier blood loss.
He does not appear to be bleeding anymore!
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
I put a chunk of quartz crystals as a thing for him to step on to more easily reach the water.
hey, it's the only thing i had which was the right size and that he couldn't bite apart :v:

I'm glad to see the Sgt. is in stable condition.

Because nobody suggested it!
This thread is actually really heart warming. Its nice to see multiple people express concern for that little creature.
Honestly, you should keep him, i'm really getting attached to the little guy.
now train it to kill
Should've named him Mr. Jingles and started training him to do tricks involving an old wooden thread spool.
start a kickstarter for sending it to space

Man, mice have it tough.
They're considered pests because they spread diseases and try to make homes in people's walls.
If only that weren't the case though, then they'd be treated like bunnies or other cute wild animals.
Also, since mice are domesticate-able animals, it might become attached to you if it realizes that you tended to it while hurt.
That's a very common way for wild animals to become attached to humans.
like all animals mice are domesticated primarily through breeding
I'm worried if you intend to set it back. I'd imagine wild animals have a hard time adjusting back to the outside life after living a cushy like this.
Still, better than leaving it to suffer.
Maybe I'll just keep it then!
It's not exactly an expensive to keep pet.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
I'm considering buying a Logitech C930e webcamera to replace this one.
If the mouse survives some more days, that is.
[B]The current webcamera, a PlayStation Eye (PS3)[/B]
640 x 480
75° FoV
Fixed focus (fixed to like 2-3 meters away)
[B]The Logitech C930e[/B]
1920 x 1080
90° FoV
Autofocus (manually adjustable even)
I'm glad to see the sergeant is doing okay.
Now send him to the centrifuge
[QUOTE=Kommodore;45498546]like all animals mice are domesticated primarily through breeding[/QUOTE]
I would agree but I don't think it's impossible based on animal reward pathways and learning.

That's quite the jump in quality I would say.
so you're not sending him to space?
