Galactic, why'd you rate this dumb? He is making a good point - is it not better to be open rather than to reject other people's opinions?
Because he obviously didn't read my posts and was just dragging on an already tired argument, one that needs to end, now.
Yes it does.
Also I drew a girl

Months later... This is how I construct bodies for paintings. I hope I'm getting better at cartoon faces. I have been practicing real faces but they are hard to get right.

I'm liking your progress, might I suggest working on cleaner lines next?

Does pixel art count? I'm not very good at it but worth a shot

Okay, I have mostly been just working on heads and stuff and now I want to to move into anatomy but I really suck at it and need help.

You need at least a circle for the head to do anatomy, since everything is measured relative to it. As is I'll use the measurement from neck to bust, making her upper arm too long on the right (remember to mirror your stuff when your working on it to pick up on uneven things), her waist is very low for a girl, coming in thinnest at where her belly button is, I know I am personally high waisted but waist follows the ribcage, being thinned just below where it ends, Her hips flare out very oddly, and youve not given her a crotch, if the shirt is mean to be down over her that area, it should be a bit longer and not flare as much (since it looks very loose, also her hips come in at that point, where they shouldnt if that is the effect you want. he knees are very knobbly, although i guess that could be chalked up to style but the left one looks broken, again down on the lower leg you are bending in before you run into the clothing, making it look like her ankles start at the top of the book, They are also probably what I would classify as too thin, at least without some balance in the style with thin wrists or some such. Her lower legs also look too long, but I think it is just the over thinning making them looks weird
You should draw a full structure with shapes underneath before you consider clothing. I'll redline it for ya if you like just to show how I would do it

That's a lot to take in, and sure redlining it would be useful.
I've been told to practice using this but a lot of the poses and actors are awkward looking

Yeah, it mostly comes down to needing to practice more. It's an unusual suggestion as far as the creative work thread might go, but I would suggest trying something I did for a while purely for practice.
Take a full body photo in a fairly normal post and trace it. May attention to the contours and the muscles as you do, rough them out over top of the photo. once your done copying all the details then go in and make what style edits you want on top with a different colour. Obviously its not something to post or anything but it helped me get a much better idea of what I was doing, and I do that as well if I'm having a major issue with a pose I'm working from, to get a better idea of where everything is and how they are interacting. Anyway Just a suggestion, I skip some of the poses on there too, just for being too advanced for me. but try some of the harder ones, just draw in the shapes including hidden parts, makes it much more manageable than just trying to draw the pose with no shapes

There ya go~
The legs are still technically short but I left them that way, I think it works for the "Cute girl" type thing and wouldn't be entirely unrealistic for a short girl any way (its actually very close to my proportions) although it isn't ideal proportions in that way, likewise I left the belly button to crotch area a little short, since although its not idea proportions is it common to real life woman because of the tilt in female hips compared to male.
Everything is still fairly undefined (I basically didn't touch the hands, since I hate hands and dont tend to refine them until my last clean lineart stage, or fine painting, never in the sketch)
Another issue I noticed while I was working on it is your layering, you have her torso at the boob area tilted left, you haven't reflected that in your center of her body continuing downward (at least not closely enough) and her arms dont overlap in the right ways with her body to suggest her shoulders are tilted away
Hope its helpful :3 Just keep at it man, you'll get there
What program are you drawing in by the way, and with or without a tablet. I feel like I might have asked before but I forget
I use paint.net and mypaint depending on what I want to do, and yes I have a tablet
Also I just realized how shitty my bodies look when you compared mine to yours :v:

I havent used MyPaint but I would recommend picking up a program with pressure sensitivity, makes it a lot easier to rough in details without it becoming a huge mess.
I like Sai particularly if you plan to use it for lineart, since the stabilizer is my best friend~ <3 Its pretty easy to get a hold of too, unlike photoshop

I'm not a fan of the scrolling system, I guess I'll have to try to get used to it.

You could also see about getting a version of Photoshop? There was a stablizer posted for it in creative work a while back that sounded good.
Or if you dont care about stabilization GIMP is very common (Havent used it personally but its pretty popular)

I have photoshop elements 9. How does the stabilizer work?
Also does fan art count?

No clue how it works, but here I found it again: http://lazynezumi.com/
They probably explain some on their site. It does cost 30 bucks but it would be something I would be pretty happy to ask a parent for as a gift, or just buy it if you have a working paypal. Pretty cheap as far as art software goes, and i'd consider that a prefer major improvement to photoshop. The lack of stabilization is the major thing that keeps me from using it.
n.b a circle alone is a poor representation of the entire head, the idea is to have the main mass (from the back of the skull) be a circle, since that will work from any angle, with the mandible and features built out from the front/bottom.

Well, calling/rating someone "dumb" who posted what is as far as I can tell their honest best work isn't very kind at all, or necessary. A disagree would do if you don't think it's worthy of posting.
tbh if you dumb someone you can't really be like WHO CARES afterwards you obviously had a reason to rate them
