Remember to press square when you run out of ammo.
Just remember the tax payers money when you're shooting your gun at nothing
I def. will tell you guys about it, and tell ya about what guns I get to shoot. My fiancee is going to get a tattoo of whatever gun I get my first confirmed kill with. (Not that I want to kill, but I figured in this job, it's gonna happen, and it's part of my life now)
I know you're in the armed forces and that's a very commendable profession to take, but getting a tattoo of a weapon on you or anyone's body because of their lovers first confirmed kill just seems... Idiotic.
Remember this years from now when you leave the service....... When you EAS, read everything before you sign it. You might sign something important away. One of my friends opted out of some VA benefits because he wasn't looking at what he signed.

[editline]3rd January 2013[/editline]
Remember to press square when you run out of ammo.
It's the X blue button for me. [editline]3rd January 2013[/editline]
Just remember the tax payers money when you're shooting your gun at nothing
I will remember that, also remember it's the rough men standing at the ready that protect you and your rights to say something like that. :)
Just remember the tax payers money when you're shooting your gun at nothing
Doesn't munitions in the military get a fixed budget every year? It's not like they set it for each individual bullet fired.

Why not give him a little respect eh? Of course trying to get anyone on Facepunch (or the internet in general) to be respectful towards anything is a bit too much to ask for.
I'm gonna tell you now, unless shit hits off with another country, you're never gonna see the frontlines. You're an infantryman, you're gonna be in the field a lot. Most guys from my platoon have been doing nothing but doing field ops. I haven't been in for too long, but, Keep motivated. Otherwise, you're not gonna have a good time what-so-ever. You ever find yourself in Alpha Company, look out for three men named Howard, Alan, and Flores. Those were my DI's.

Think of it this way, maybe one day if you get lucky, you'll have kids, and maybe, just maybe because guys like me, who decided to take the chance and fight for your country, they won't have to. I hope you have a great day, and can understand I respect your opinion and will not further add to this. :)

I understand thats a big part of your job description, and im not suggesting you should hate your job, but I would go in with the mindset of "ill do what i have to do when the times come, but hopefully that time never comes" not "god i cant wait for my first kill, so my wife and I can get tattoos!"

Really, I changed my mind, and said I'd rather us get Semper fi tatted together. And I'm in no rush to kill someone, trust me, taking a life is not something I want, but like you said, push comes to shove, I'll be the one who holds that weight.

the taliban are op plz nerf

Personally I'd jut freeze up if I was ever in a face to face gunfight. No matter how many bullets they put through me I'd never be able to justify the act of shooting back and killing the guy and ruining the lives of any kids/wife/family he has. So from the guy who thrives in the protected walls of the society you help to enforce peace within... Thank you and good luck. Also the my birthday is the 15th so my thoughts will be with your safety for the day.
wait wait read that wrong i'm sorry please forgive me snip

I think about it too, the wives and kids and family, but I have those to (no kids yet) so I guess in war you just gotta let those things go and fight for the guy next to you. I am a total Army POG, but I have nothing but respect for combat arms guys, no matter the service. Just remember man, never ever quit.
Good luck, and thank you in advance for serving!
After a long day of safety briefs (You're gonna fucking learn to love them) I thought of a few bits of advice. Bootcamp 1. Scream as loud as you can 2. Scream "Aye Sir" when in doubt. Even if it is a yes or no question and you absolutely have no idea as to what to say. No matter what, you're still gonna get fucked up. 3. You will be screaming ditties a lot, so, when you have no idea about what is being said just scream something and make it look like you're saying it along. Most likely you'll be called out by the DI and you'll get fucked up because you didn't say it/hear it. Happens a lot (IE. Sir, ORM is: Occupational Risk Management Sir!) 4. You will be friends with almost everyone in your platoon for a short while. You will slowly hate them progressively more and more. You'll probably go through more than 30 fights throughout Bootcamp. My platoon had at least 8 a week. Ranging from one on one to full blown platoon fights. 5. You will probably hate your Guide and Squad Leaders. Mine were pure douchebags except for one. People will power trip really hard in Bootcamp. 6. Your Senior will not always save you. Unless you guys become the best platoon, but, that's highly unlikely. 7. Depending on your height be the House-Mouse, or, a Laundry Recruit. 8. DO NOT EVER SPEAK IN 1ST PERSON 9. DO NOT EVER SAY THANK YOU. One of the worst IT sessions I've ever had was from someone saying thank you. 10. When being addressed, the only things to ever come out of your mouth are Aye Sir/Yes Sir/No Sir. If you ever say no, you better have a damn good reason. 11. Be prepared to lose shit. There are a lot of thieves. There's much more to tell you, but, that's all I can really think of at the moment for you. If I think of anything more, I'll add it.
8. DO NOT EVER SPEAK IN 1ST PERSON
Elaborate, please
Elaborate, please
Speaking in first person... I/me/we/us.
I think he meant why, not what.
I think he meant why, not what.
Why? Because as a recruit you amount to nothing and forfeit your right to speak as a human being until you complete Bootcamp.

Actually, I'm part of Temple Terrace Recruiting area, in Florida, and my recruiters have put me through some of those motions...the screaming...I freaking love it.. Honestly my goal is to be a DI one day. I love the yelling and all that..I thrive on it.
Honestly my goal is to be a DI one day. I love the yelling and all that..I thrive on it.
Many came into the Corps with that hope. Many gave up. I'm not saying you can't be a DI, but, once you learn more about everything you'll see it all in a different light. And Florida you say? I came from South FL myself.
Best of luck, I have huge respect for you guys. :downs:

Also ya, it might change, but I been wanting this my whole life, and I really do like the D.I thing, I also went to Parris Island with my JROTC, I was prob. the only person getting his nuts off to it all. I fucking love it. [editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
Best of luck, I have huge respect for you guys. :downs:
Thanks bro! [editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
HM here, FMTB is a follow on school to A school, its like a mini marine boot camp. Take my advice and do it RIGHT after school, dont go to a shore command THEN to it, its much harder to get back into the swing of things. Marines can and will haze the fuck out of you till you prove yourself, then, they have the utmost respect for you if you prove your worth. You must work as hard, or harder than they do, PT harder, and still be johnny on the spot with care. Don't fuck around, dont lose their trust, if you don't know an answer, dont bullshit your way through it, respond with "i do not know, but let me ask and i'll get back to you". It's better to look like an idiot than to look like a liar.
Thanks man, def will remember that. I don't like bullshitting my way through anything, if I don't know I tell them. If I feel it is beyond my ability I tell them and atleast try to do it.
Why? Because as a recruit you amount to nothing and forfeit your right to speak as a human being until you complete Bootcamp.
What an excellent way of making them feel they are not just cannon fodder.
What an excellent way of making them feel they are not just cannon fodder.
Well you can't go in being treated like you're somebody. The Marines, are brothers, and to be brothers you must start from mud and go through hardship together...when you earn the title of Marine then you know you aren't cannon fodder.
