If you walk in to any room you're scared of and yell "FUCK YOU, COME LICK MY BALLS" really loud, some stress will be relieved. Any variation of that works well too.

If you still feel scared, keep something fairly heavy and made out of metal by your side as a whacking stick. Also, if it's especially hot or cold, know that any creaking or FKFGKFJGFJGIVEMYOURSOUL noises are probably just some material contracting and expanding.

Hey guys come on, he is just scared everyone was/is scared of something too.
OP buddy the best advice I can give it to you is do something that you like or enjoy that distracts you, like watching a good movie on tv or play some games. I remember i used to be very alert when i was alone because it was a violent place so any sound could be someone breaking in =/
If it helps well as i did, keep your baseball bat w/e you have to be strong enough to knock someone down close to you and walk by the house with it in a defensive walk/position of course.
