Rock wins, no surprise. Rap is best left for the hardcore gangsters, not the faggot-ass cock-suckers you see on MTV or hear on the radio. Real rap comes from people who grew up on the streets, and actually rap with a passion for telling their story, not rapping about money, like that butt-fucking ass-clown known as "50 Cent".
Tupac was a real rapper. Dr.Dre was a real rapper.
These faggots you see on TV like Chris Brown and T.I. are not what I would call "rappers", but more like "posers". You see, the difference between rappers and posers is a little thing called "talent". Anyone who has a PC, a mic, and a copy of Auto-Tune can make an instant radio hit just by looping a beat and talking over it. (So many artist to name, I can't possibly list them all here).
I love gangster rap, as well as rock. I just hate that horrible shit on the radio that they call "rap", which is nothing of the sort.
Word.
You can't compare the two, they're completely different.
I love underground rap seeing that the majority of it is good.
no

What the hell are you talking about?
Dr. Dre has had nearly all of his lyrics written for him by other people. He's not a "real rapper," he's a producer (and a very good one). He only raps to put a face on his music, because it sells better. He was also a straight-A student, for the record. T.I. and 50 Cent were actual drug dealers, if that means so much to you, although I'm not sure why it should. They're also both fairly talented rappers. T.I. has made some of the best rap albums of the year. And Chris Brown is a singer, not a rapper. Not all black entertainers are rappers, you know.
As for rock, it was good in the 70s, before it got ruined by synthesizers and Kurt Kobain. Now it's like a leper that deserves a mercy killing. Fortunately it seems to be resurrected in its old form through pop music.
ITT Ne-yo is a rapper.
Cuz he's black. get it?
Classic Rock, 60s, 70s and some 80s was the best
How the FUCK is rap winning?
I like both but I listen to a lot more rock/metal.
Classic Rock, 60s, 70s and some 80s was the best
Give This man agrees.
Besides, Rap has a great beat to it, if it wasn't repeated every 10 seconds.
Through the whole FUCKING song!
Most ridiculously hard decision ever.
Rap is obviously the besttt
it's hard to get a good rhyme

Not if you're good
How the hell is rock only getting 1/3 of the votes?

Listening to Motley Crue...
Rap is superior, as stated fact by the denizens of facepunch. Although rock and rap to me a equally good if the artist have skill and talent. Some of my favorite rap artist consist of Tupac, Biggie, Lil Wayne (not his mainstream shit), Wiz Khalifa, Drake, and many more. Country music can eat a dick, this contradicts my avatar and user name.

Actually Rapper Jay-Z Drives a Maybach 62S. Also Lil Wayne drives a Bugatti Veyron, so enjoy your metal head mustang please.
Rock. No contest. Rap has fallen into a mixture of drug/gangsta/slap-a-bitch zone.
I have an odd place in this.
Anything before 1995 rap I love and rock I'm not very fond of. Then post 95 rock I love and rap I hate.
How did rap get 65% of the vote?
Rap has fallen into a mixture of drug/gangsta/slap-a-bitch zone.
My thoughts indeed. Granted there are a few decent songs, but as far as mainstream goes, this is where its at.
I thought most of Facepunch was staunchly against rap.
I like both.

you have to sift through the shit to find the diamonds for all genres.

The Veyron? That horrendously ugly, overcomplicated, 4400 pound, second-best rolling toilet seat that eats it's tires in 15 minutes flat?
Just goes to show rappers have no taste. They seem to gravitate to cars that are ugly, second best and have big rims.
BTW, I said rap fan's car. Not rapper's. Rappers have enough money to buy the really expensive ugly cars like the Veyron and Maybach, they don't have to settle for 24" spinners and a candy paint job on a rusted out 1984 Chevy Caprice. If I was loaded I'd have either a Saleen S7 or SSC Ultimate Aero.
The fuck, how is rap winning?

I have respect for streets rap pre 95, but, in my eyes. It's obvious.
