I was able to download GTA IV in 50 minutes on wireless then before I was on wired. Took me 3 hours to download GTA IV.

Now you should realize that even though Wireless N (the current highest standard, commonplace in wireless networking equipment purchased recently) is rated for 600 Mbit/s, if you were actually able to download from the Internet at that speed, you'd download GTA4 in less than four minutes.
The bottleneck in your downloading is not your choice of networking, it's your ISP.
