In Skyrim, I prefer the Empire to the Stormcloaks. I mean, yeah, it seems illogical to join up with people who tried to cut your head off within 5 minutes of setting foot in Skyrim, but there's a lot to read into before you impulsively let that drive your decision. First, it's immediately established that the Nords are complete racists, especially to the Dark Elves. I found it much more enjoyable to fight alongside people who seemed diplomatic and civilized. Along with that, the whole 'banning the worship of Talos' thing can be looked past, because several indications are given that the empire plans on eventually going to war with the Aldmeri Dominion anyway. And finally, if you complete the civil war quest before the main quest, you run into Ulfric in Sovngarde, where he directly expresses regret for starting the war, and realizes how it did nothing but separate Skyrim, doing exactly what the Thalmor would've wanted. And there's no alternative experience if you fight the empire. No regret expressed. Most people seem to immediately side with the Stormcloaks on the execution thing in the beginning. I have a feeling that, if they hadn't included that sequence in the game, most people would've instead sided with the empire. I think they made a mistake putting that major scale-shifter in right at the beginning.
Though, really, the differences aren't that big. You can go to Australia to or from New Zealand without a visa, and it probably isn't a truly difficult job for someone to adapt to either country when coming from the other.
~15% of new zealanders live in Australia :v:

Plus, Legate Rikke is voiced by Claudia Christian...who'd want to kill that?
I'll probably be seen as a terrible excuse of a human being, though I have to wonder if bullying would be less encouraged if news networks covered bullies getting murdered by their own victims more often than suicides caused by bullying.

But then I don't think that happens anywhere near as much as the other, so overall it'd be talked about less.
I hate the taste of licorice.
Here's an Unpopular opinion, courtesy of me. When we stop debating about "Privilege" and "Majorities" and "Minorities" and just think of people, as fucking people (not if they're part of a majority), then maybe we can cure some injustices. Maybe then. What made me realize this was the latest Sensationalist Headlines thread where this was debated.
I think they made a mistake putting that major scale-shifter in right at the beginning.
I think the real mistake is making the side-choosing morally black and white. Especially to common players now who more or less would be for the concept of equality for all. I would have thought that more people would have sided with the Empire because of of the whole Stormcloak being bigots thing. Even asked this in the TES megathread a while back, but the next question is if the Stormcloaks would be able to fight against the Dominion and win or if I'm not far enough to find out a definite answer.
I think they made a mistake putting that major scale-shifter in right at the beginning.
I think that was completely intentional. Nationalism like that of the Stormcloaks is really emotion driven. I supported them because it seemed like the Empire was in decline and really didn't have the interest of the Skyrim in mind at all (based on the treaty and comments from Imperial leadership). A few of the books in the game revealed to me some of the Empires history which was mostly stuff about political disasters caused by central authority and insane emperors. It was my first Elder Scrolls experience so I didn't have much prior knowledge about the universe and I was also trying to roleplay as a Nordic character. People always shit on me for supporting them.

I just got back to my homeland after doing gods know what, only to find that it's engulfed in chaos and those damn, dirty elves that took away MY god in the pantheon are working with the remains of the Empire. From a roleplaying standpoint it made sense to me at least. v:v:v
Late 2010s being 2017-2019
How do we call the 00's anyway? I mean, there's thirties, fifties, nineties and so on, so do we call it O's or what?
How do we call the 00's anyway? I mean, there's thirties, fifties, nineties and so on, so do we call it O's or what?
The noughties.
The noughties.
So the first ten years of a given century are always naughty? :v:
I like Microsoft's metro ui style. Just not the 360s dashboard.
Stormcloaks vs. Imperials discussion
I prefer to take the side of the Stormcloaks for, yes, the obvious reason that the Imperials are the ones trying to execute you at the beginning of the game, and I also feel like the Empire is in decline if they lost to the Aldmeri Dominion. But from a lore-based point of view, it doesn't matter whichever side that you pick, as that side has the almighty Dragonborn on their side, the hero of Skyrim who has saved or is destined to save all of Nirn by killing Alduin. Not even the Thalmor Nazis can stand up to the Dragonborn.
This is probably gonna cause some confusion and need additional explaining, but "the white race" does not exist.
I don't get why everyone jerks it over Loki from Thor/Avengers. He's a mediocre villain.
Valve isn't spending enough money on SteamOS. :x
Valve isn't spending enough money on SteamOS. :x
We get that you think Valve is the best thing to happen in the history of everything. You can stop posting daily about them.
Valve isn't spending enough money on SteamOS. :x
Valve shouldn't be spending any money on SteamOS, Valve shouldn't be making SteamOS.
Valve shouldn't be spending any money on SteamOS, Valve shouldn't be making SteamOS.
It could make a shitload of money in the future though, If it has some decent features, I might go to it.
Valve shouldn't be spending any money on SteamOS, Valve shouldn't be making SteamOS.
I want a Gaming OS. Valve is making a Gaming OS that will be free. I am content.
I'm questioning the unpopularity of what i'll say now, but i'll say it anyways: Grocery stores need to sell 60-pak containers of Apple Cider envelopes.
I want a Gaming OS.
Wouldn't a gaming OS need to have a solid launch lineup?
A lot of developers have stated they are porting their games to SteamOS. Total War: Rome II being one of them. And I like Rome II.
Wouldn't a gaming OS need to have a solid launch lineup?
You can browse the internet with it. Plus all the already existing games for Linux are also nice.
I think that not only is the Chicago Drill scene in hip-hop great, it's probably the most important contemporary subgenre in Hip Hop, and I'm prepared to argue that
This is probably gonna cause some confusion and need additional explaining, but "the white race" does not exist.
eh yeah, technically, neither does black, latino, etc. but it's a handy blanket term apparently.
Chrismahanukwanzakah should be recognized as a holiday. (Or if that don't work, we could settle for Decemberween as a politically correct alternative)
