i thought he went a bit overboard with the making fun of people junk, but in mosts threads i've seen him post in he's got pretty cool opinions. sometimes the way somebody articulates their opinion ruins it tho
I often agreed with his opinions but he was a fucking dick and went into every thread and tried to start an argument. I remember one thread where he came in swinging but everyone agreed with him so he just floundered for half a page before disappearing.
I don't believe the righteous indignation that people have for thisispains ridiculously milquetoast personal jabs that he interspersed between genuinely good posts. Not on a board that so eagerly embraces similar shitposting when it comes to making fun of feminists and the like. People are happy he was permabanned because he held opinions they don't like and argued them strongly and well, similarly to yawmwen.

Well, thisispain at least, Yawmwen was kind of an idiot.
People disliked them because they were assholes, not because of their opinions. Well, thisispain at least, Yawmwen was kind of an idiot.
A few maybe. Most just don't want to see opposing viewpoints. Look at the number of posts in the Least Favorite Users thread that contain "starts arguments". Maybe you yourself genuinely think he went too far with his "vitriol" but the guys he argued with in SH, the ones who made "check your privelage" and "lol sjw/srs/tumblr/white knight/feminazi" shitposts? Completely disingenuous. yawmwen is actually a smart dude who articulates himself well, he just says crazy shit from time to time. Again, not bad posting, just unpopular posting. I'm not here to argue against rules or moderators but it's a shame to see so many people on FP happy to see opposing viewpoints getting banned for simply being opposing viewpoints, or in thisispains case, having the excuse that once every 20 posts he called someone a nerd shockhorror.
The problem with thisispain is that insulting someone "once every 20 posts" meant he was insulting people on basically every page he posted on. I wouldn't mind him coming back if he was less of an aggressive arsehole. You can disagree with people without insulting them constantly. Yawmwen on the other hand went pretty fucking crazy at the end. For like a week before he was permabanned he was just spouting completely insane conspiracy theory shit. Yawmwen also seemed to think when people disagreed with him that they were attacking him personally.
If you genuinely think thisispain went too far with his insults then I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that point. I just don't see this board as a collective that awards blatantly offensive posts as much as it does having a problem with his insults more than the points he made in between. As for yawmwen, I don't really remember that but nor do I feel like looking at his post history but he did take anarchism seriously and was a bit sensitive to criticism on it. Still wouldn't mind having him back though, even with his "molotovs aren't even that dangerous guys" posts :v:
Oh man, I forgot about that. "I throw molotovs at my friends and they're fine."
Oh man, I forgot about that. "I throw molotovs at my friends and they're fine."
his post about how police were "full-time class traitors" was the most bewildering post I think I've ever seen in my entire life.
Oh man, I forgot about that. "I throw molotovs at my friends and they're fine."
"It's ok to throw molotovs at cops because it doesn't hurt them"

Though I do respect him for being honest about his opinions and defending them pretty well at times. At least when thisispain was being a douche it was entertaining too.
I like racist jokes, rape jokes and offensive jokes in general
I piss sitting down
that's me!
I like racist jokes, rape jokes and offensive jokes in general
If it's done well it's good, eminem does a lot of that in his music to where it's "That was fucking horrible.... but I have to admit that it was pretty funny"
the biggest problem with thisispain wasn't that he took his insults too far. it was his obnoxious passive aggressiveness, and how he was always the one that stirred shit up. so many threads that turned into feminism shitstorms just because he somehow found a way to twist someone's words into sounding sexist. also, as much as he loved to say that he didn't get mad or care about internet arguments, to me he always came off as caring way too much about that stuff. he sounded like he absolutely hated anyone that disagreed with him and even dragged people into huge arguments for making unrelated, offhand comments.
I think coming to the United States, and only living in the part of town where a majority of the inhabitants only speak your language is a bad idea. I know several immigrants who only speak one language from their native land. They assume I speak their native language rather than just talking to me in English. No, I don't speak your language. I only speak English, which is apparently what I use to converse with the vast majority around the country. Heck, you had all the time in the world to wait for your green card, so just bother try to learn the language widely used in the land of opportunity. Don't limit yourself to that particular location. Learn and study a country's widely used language before you go move there. It's like I go emigrate to South America and expect for a majority of the inhabitants to speak English. Same kinda goes for foreigners playing in servers located in regions where the mass pop. only speak their native language. If you come into a US West server expecting people to understand your Russian language, then you're going to have a bad time. On the plus side, I now know what "cyka" means.
I'm sorry but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. They don't come to the US to learn English or to learn about American culture, they come to the US to provide a future for their families. First of all, they don't have all the time in the world to learn English. Not only is moving to another country incredibly expensive , but finding a stable job as an immigrant can be pretty hard. I lived with a family of Mexican immigrants in the US, and I only ever saw them at night because they worked for so damn long, and even then didn't make a lot of money. Secondly, I agree, speaking the language of the country you're in is obviously important, but it's not necessary. Most of the time they move close to family and friends that also came to the US, or bring others with them, not to mention the fact that most towns and cites have plenty of stores run by foreigners for foreigners, too. Also, "all the time in the world to get their green cards", seriously? These things (green card, citizenship) already take a pretty long time, and you think you can learn a language and go through all those processes just like that? When your children are growing up and you want them to have a decent future with good opportunities, you have no time to waste, and that's something you should really try to understand.
I miss thisispain He used to be funny, but leading to his ban he was just annoying
Now I feel it's an unpopular opinion that I like that this is pain is banned. He joined yamwen and another user I now forgot that made SH such a toxic place. This'll even fix users like katbug that he completely trolled into shitposting over and over.
Won't thisispain/yawmwen/iJeax just be unbanned on Garry's birthday though?
Won't thisispain/yawmwen/iJeax just be unbanned on Garry's birthday though?
AFAIK it's not an annual thing any more.
Early access games need to learn from DayZ's all-caps warning to not buy the game.
Early access games need to learn from DayZ's all-caps warning to not buy the game.
I actually think it's peoples fault for this. It's on early access, meaning it's implied this game is not finished in few-many ways. Then people bitch about how it's not worth it. Early Access is more to support development then to have a playable experience.

There's a metric fuckton of users who make it a laughable place. He was just a piss droplet in a sea of piss.
The "oh but she's a thousand years old" excuse for getting off to little girls in anime and games is absolutely retarded. At least own up to it and not try to bullshit your way out of it.
if she's pictured as underage then it counts as pedophilia
Not everywhere, even in sweden the rules are kinda wonky
if she's pictured as underage then it counts as pedophilia
In some countries it's considered child porn, in others it isn't. In those where it isn't it's a very muddy subject.
Early access games need to learn from DayZ's all-caps warning to not buy the game.
Valve should do a better job to keep consumers from making a bad decision on steam. The developer-set messages are usually useless.

And direct exposure to the language can be quite a learning opportunity.

Before anyone says anything, I don't mean this in a "immigrants are too stupid to have successful careers" way, I'm saying that most of them are simple people, and if you're talking about places like Mexico, with shitty education systems and all that, it's even worse, and they're most likely not gonna be able to get into more competitive markets and such. Just getting a stable job is good enough, especially considering how much higher the wages in the US are compared to places like Mexico.
