I laugh every time a guy uses this "term" tbh.

Unironically of course.
You do realize that if you don't like the comics you don't have to read them, right?
Actually there's someone standing over his shoulder forcing him at gunpoint to read each and every comic and post in the entire thread whether he's interested or not.
People that think they should be "rewarded" with sex should just go play a Bioware game.
Playing Bioware games is probably what gives people these ideas anyway.
I originally thought friend zone meant an area where people are gay together and become friends because socially awkward kids would complain about it

I kind of hate "tbh" also, but I do it too, so I'm terrible as well.
I think whenever a reviewer has a guest star in one of their episodes, they completely derail it and make it unfunny.

Typing "tbh" is just ingrained into my muscle memory.
Aside from superintendents and principals tending to be more ban-happy than Facepunch moderators, the US actually has a pretty good foundation behind its education system.

Wasn't the term originally supposed to mean you were in a relationship, or starting one, and the girl says she just wants to be friends instead? That I can understand, being shot down sucks. Most of the idiots saying it are pansy ass 'nice guys' who don't even attempt to approach a girl before bitching about her.

It kinda varies.
Some schools can be absolute garbage, others can be relatively good. It might depend on the type of kid, too.
But anyone who says that school hasn't taught them jack shit is a moron for one reason or another.

Oh yeah it definitely varies quite a lot, but what I'm trying to get at is that the system we have is built on some pretty good ideas and does quite a few things fairly well.
It just sort of gets overshadowed by things like draconian codes of conduct (as I said about school officials being ban-happy) and the fact that far too few people actually pay any attention to the material.

Yeah, it is, but sometimes those ideas are just that. Ideas.

I can honestly say high school taught me very little. I learned some in math my junior and senior years but past that my first three years of high school covered next to nothing I hadn't already learned on my own elsewhere.
High school has taught me tons, but not often because of curriculum, more often because of social contact, teachers' wisdom (just getting to spend an hour with an educator every day imparts a lot), work ethic, and personal research.
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
I also owe it to public education for my ability to speak French and English. Language classes were always useful, curriculum and extras together.
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
Public education is not nearly as bad as most people say it is, but it's often inefficient and certainly irregular across the country, which is the biggest cause of frustration IMO.

While I agree with you, I think it really ties down to what teacher you have. In Social Studies (history/politics) this year we're learning about basically all the major events of the 20th century. This is something I've always been interested in but have been too lazy to study on my own time. We've already gotten through to the 70's and hardly anything has stuck with me because my teacher isn't the greatest despite my interest. I'm still getting a decent mark at least since the tests are easy.
A lot of teachers don't bother really teaching you. A lot of them just tell you how to pass the upcoming test and your final exam, and that involves throwing information at you. I've always exceeded in the classes where the teacher was more involved with the students, but I think this goes more with what you said about it depending on the type of kid. Everyone learns differently.
My Highschool was pretty awful
One teacher decided he didn't want to teach anything for the entire month of december, so we just watched the movie "Elf" every day instead. When we finished it, we just watched it again.
I hate that movie.
Another time, a teacher didn't feel like grading the finals, so he bet the class that if we could collectively eat 150 hot dogs, we'd all get 100% on the final. The class ate them all (without my help), and we all got 100% on the final.
And neither of them got fired.
So yeah, public school is pretty bad.
the fucking conscription in finland sucks major ass
good thing it's really easy to be freed from
finland isn't really even that great as many say, filled with old racist homophobic drunks as well

i disagree with milkandcooki there but that argument doesnt really work
most polandball comics are freakin huge and always stretch the page, i can see why it'd be annoying to have to scroll past dozens of them if you didnt like them

what the hell lmao
the school i went to in the us is apparently one of the 20 worst in the entire country but we never did anything like that
I go to a pretty good Semi-Private High School (If you're in one of the towns that sends their kids to the school, it's free. If you're not it's tuition. All funds the school gets are through private endowments).
All my teachers, with the exception of a couple Freshman year were p. ace who care a lot about teaching and about their students. For example, my AP US teacher last year (He is also my Modern History teacher this year) cares a lot about what he does, and is a really great, relaxed teacher. Monday last channel we did nothing but talk about shit other than Modern History. There's always a laugh to be had, and we actually learn. it's really nice.

Eh, I think it's the kids faults. We can't get anything done in my german class for example because people don't pay attention so we have to go back and relearn shit.

Let's trade, I'd rather have ball-shriveling cold than Texas weather.
Oh wait... I'd have to learn Finnish.... I'll stay Texan alright?

A lot of Finns speak english so it probably wouldn't be too bad.

The weather here sucks and it's dark and the language sucks even more.

Yeah, with an accent so incomprehensible it may as well be finnish.
and people don't like foreigners, racist morons
i don't think i'll stay here forever, i'll go to canada as an exchange student and if i like it i'll propably move there later.
A lot of Finns speak english so it probably wouldn't be too bad.
Eh, I wouldn't want to live in a country unless I know its language, even if many speak english.
If I was for some reason told to go live in finland you have this amount of time I would try to learn the language. While it's probably the most difficult european language but no language is really impossible.
The biggest problem with it afaik is the few resources that are available because, come on, who learns finnish? I'm in Texas and if I wanted to learn Spanish there would be no shortage of teachers/books/videos/etc.
I think Vines are actually pretty funny and sometimes they're really well done too.

moving to finland would be pointless in the first place and the language is virtually impossible to learn.
i'm finnish (oh god why) and even i have a hard time speaking it sometimes, english is so much easier.
Twitch Plays Pokemon was stupid.
The Sims 3 is the best in the series. Sure I miss the style of Sims 1 and 2, and its humor, and the rabbit hole lots are bullshit, but everything else in the game is just a plain upgrade to the Sims formula to the point where looking over those problems is easy.
The Sims is a depressing game series.

Vines are terrible now, they're mainly just adverts, terrible remakes or just plain annoying.

I always find my Sim stuck in a dead-end job because he only has time to work. It's kind of scary how realistic that is. :v:
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but It's still fun to play.
